the hotel propert reminds me a bit of Tahoe forest. It's cozy and inviting but a little to dark for me. The lobby & restaurant is very dark. Our room was ok. It had been somewhat updated but not quite as luxurious as other Napa Valley places we've stayed. Location is good for walking to town, but there's a ton of road construction so very loud & busy. The pool by our room was very uninviting. The plaster was broken & stained and the jacuzzi was green due to the old plaster & stains. I woul... Read more

The property was beautiful and the location was perfect. The hotel restaurant and morning breakfast offering were flat out awesome. The rooms have been recently renovated but we still had access problems with the electronic door lock that they were never able to fully correct. We usually stay in Yountville, so I was looking forward to our stay in St. Helena. The hotel is close enough to walk to town but it is not really a nice walk because there are really no sidewalks or a good shoulder to walk in to town. The hotel grounds are nice with a good view of vineyards and mountains in the distance. The breakfast is nice and the staff try to be accommodating. My biggest complaint would be housekeeping. Housekeeping was non responsive and definitely not up to the previous visits. the grounds are still amazing, the hotel & restaurant staff very accommodating but I will not go back. Gross bug in the bathroom and the area rugs were dirty & the floors were not swept the entire stay. We left with the Do Not Disturb sign on the door, upon our return housekeeping had come in & turned down the sofa bed (with our dog in the room!!!).

We spent unfortunately only one night at this lovely place in Napa Valley. It's definitely a good choice for those who want to stay for some days in this beautiful region. Great breakfast! The restaurant is not marketed well as the information available in the rooms did not communicate the full scope of dishes. Even more it was misleading. So we had dinner in a restaurant nearby.

Probably thought more about this review than any I've done before. Very frustrated that it isn't 5/5. This is a beautiful setting and a quiet sanctuary from a busy Napa day. But like all of Napa it isn't cheap and one would expect a decent level of service. The place was built thirty years ago and perhaps some day Charlie will renovate. He does have an interesting marketing scheme -- offering 10 percent off for direct booking, then clipping you for a forty dollar resort fee. If I had stayed thru Trip Advisor I would have saved money. The 10 percent deal is a scam. Employees were less crisp than one expects at the level of irregular pricing. If you go though, ask for a room in the 300's to enjoy a vineyard view.
