We celebrated our 3rd Girls Weekend at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay. The second girls weekend was at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel which was also great but we have to say the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay toped this one. The experience was amazing and the staff, exceptional. The restaurants and spa were over the top great! We can't say enough about the staff and the care they provided. This hotel is spectacularly located on a gorgeous curve of the Northern California coast. It is a shame that neither their rooms nor their food do justice to the beauty of their surroundings. We live nearby and have visited frequently for smores, hot chocolate, lunch, drinks but only recently spent a night to extend beach time. We were disappointed in their rooms. Uninspiring. Terrible shower. The buffet breakfast was average. We will never stay at this property again. We left poorly rested. T... Read more

We had wanted to visit the Ritz at Half Moon Bay, to decide if we wanted to stay there for our next visit. We stopped by to check out the property, as we have enjoyed our stays at other Ritz locations in the carribean.. There was no place to park nearby, despite a sign at the entrance that says "Pubic Access Free Parking" when you drive into the property. Not sure what that was about. It almost felt like they went out of their way to discourage anybody who wanted to visit the property for di... Read more

THe hotel is located on a gorgeous piece of property on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. We had a one bedroom suite reserved for two adults and one adult child. The first night we heard noise from the elevator which made it difficult to sleep. The next morning we complained to the front desk and they put us in another room which was away from the elevator. The first room should not have been assigned since it had to be a known problem with the room. We had a $300 per night resort credit which we... Read more

Memorial day weekend getaway. Unfornatuately the weather did not corporate which takes away from the experience. Not much to do on site, found it odd that most people found it satisfactory to sit on the back lawn all day steering at the Pacific. More of a property for advanced age.

We stayed here over the memorial weekend. We were very please from A to Z. From the moment of checking in to our departure, the staff were attentive and they met our every needs. We had an ocean view room and it was magnificent! My only negative comment was the lobby was a bit noisy and very busy when we arrived. It must be because of the long holiday weekend. Look forward to come back a gain.

Had pleasure to spend three nights at the Ritz Carlton. Great location with scenic property. A destination resort with two very good golf courses. Rooms are large and well laid out. Three separate buildings- the main facility with meeting rooms and services. Two separate locations within an easy five minute walk including Ocean House with units facing 18th hole of old golf course, the ocean and the main hotel porch.

I love this hotel.....Off the beaten path from the bigger city of San Fransisco. The sunsets are the best from the open cocktail lounge. Great for a quick business meeting or date night. We loved walking all day by the ocean and enjoying the fresh air and the beach. Wonderful scenery and lots of outdoor space to enjoy. The rooms have beautiful views and are clean and cozy. Everything you'd expect from the Ritz...but more outdoor spaces to do it!

I love this hotel. Tasteful, muted, elegant. Great views, great food, lovely wines. I've been the to restaurant several times but this was the first time I stayed at the hotel. It was a going away celebration of sorts. LOVELY. Highly recommended for a special weekend (or otherwise if you can get away with it :) I will say I think I liked the bar/restaurant a little better than the full service restaurant. While we are generally budget minded when we travel, and aim for mid-level, predictable chains, my husband jumped way out of the box for a special 2 night getaway for our 20th wedding anniversary. What a disappointment. Nice enough room with NO minibar. 2 bath towels for 4 guests. 1 bar of soap needing to be shared between bath tub, shower and as hand soap. Room service did not get out order right and the food was marginal at best. The vibe in the hotel was a bit uptight and did not offer us the relaxation we had hoped for. After checking out of the St. Regis SF (which was amazing in every way!!) this hotel cannot compare to most 5 star hotels. We will not return.

This is by far the most stunning Ritz property in which we have ever stayed. The piece of real estate upon which the resort sits is breathtaking. The back patio is a great place to watch the sunset and have a drink in the evening. The decor of the hotel and the rooms is the finest we have seen anywhere. The rooms are very large and comfortable. The gym is large and well equipped. The spa is fantastic. My wife and I got massages and they were outstanding. Service from top to bottom is out... My husband and I spent a couple of very relaxing days at this lovely property earlier in July. As is common in this area, the weather tends to be greyer and windier than further down the coast (we'd driven in high 90s heat and sunshine all the way from LA 'til reaching a few miles of the hotel when a blanket of grey enveloped us that didn't disappear for almost 24 hours!) and this large hotel is perched broodingly at the top of a cliff overlooking the Pacific. Its design does remind me of the ... Read more

The hotel is a small property. The terrace is refreshing and the views are beautiful. Keep your eyes out for the whales at sunset! Since itâ??s a RC, service is first class. They will go above and beyond to assist you. We got an upgrade to a corner room with a golf course/coastal view. It was a very large, quiet room with a comfortable bed. They donâ??t hesitate to refill the amenities, always plenty of shampoo, lotion, towels, etc. If you want black coffee instead of the Nespresso, the ... Read more

This is great hotel to escape the heat and the bustle of city life. It is close to the Bay Area, but far enough removed to be isolating. Half Moon Bay is generally a lot cooler to just cold. The setting on the beach is breath-taking. This is why most people come here for the setting to have a wedding or a major event. We came for Easter Brunch, which was fabulous in the Navio on Saturday. We cam Saturday, because the Navio has the views of the ocean. (Easter Sunday Brunch serves the same selecti... Read more

The location is iconic and the views amazing. The staff are generally very helpful and knowledgable. Rooms are a nice size (but no mini bars). But some things are not quite right: eg the pool needs renovating, and there are queues for meals at weekends because the restaurant is too small.... High priced but a notch down on the sister property at Laguna Niguel.

My husband and I are in love with this resort! It is the perfect romantic getaway. The location, views, and ambiance are unreal. The food and wine selections are amazing! The evening bagpiper is not to be missed, while relaxing by the fire pits with wine or gourmet hot chocolate. For those that don't golf, strolling their walking paths or riding their complimentary cruiser bikes to into town make for a great day activity.

We stayed at The Ritz-Carlton for three nights in a Spa Terrace Suite, which was beautiful. The outside area with fire pit was the most perfect spot for toasting marshmallows, whilst listening to the piper and watching the sun go down. There is a small beach within easy walking distance and there is a pool, but only an indoor one, which is such a shame. An outdoor pool, would make this hotel an outstanding place to stay, as when its beautiful outside the last place you want to be is in a very... Read more

Well, what a shame. Being a Ritz Carlton, one would expect a certain type of service. How this was NOT the case. Having stayed in 15/20+ Ritz Carltons in all corners of the earth, this was by far the worst - and almost an embarrassment to the brand. The rooms were wonderful, yes. > but the praise stops there. The restaurant service was diabolical, the concierge NEVER pick up their phone and then SHUTS at 7pm!! And the bell captain is unreachable. A truly disappointing stay, in a potentially... Read more

We went for a conference and we took an Uber to get there from San Francisco. We met our family here for a mini reunion. It is a beautiful property throughout. The golf course is well cared for and the patio areas have nice fire pits - you'll need them because it can be very cold here. The property is off by itself so you'll need to drive a bit to get to wineries or to dinner off site. We don't really have much to complain about, it's just that for the money we'd rather stay in San Francisco. If you want to get away from it all, this may be a nice choice.
