For a number of years we have escaped the Canadian cold by settling into Del Mar's Hotel Indigo each February, never to be disappointed. It is a quiet retreat, close to all amenities like Torrey Pines golf course, upscale La Jolla, and wonderful walks along the coast and on hiking trails near by. Given its location and recent extensive upgrades, the hotel is really good dollar value for this area, and the staff is like no other when it comes to genuine and warmly welcoming courte... Read more

There were several things to like about the hotel and some things that I didn't like. Likes: Excellent location - 1 block from the ocean. You can walk the block to get to the cliffs. Adjacent to the cliffs are the train tracks. There is an unofficial trail along the cliff tops along the tracks. Pretty dramatic when the train goes by. Clean & well maintained exterior - good landscaping and clean property. Good service - friendly front desk & waiters in the bar/grille were attentive and helpfu... Read more

Lovely hotel, very clean rooms, some big rooms if you pay more money! We had a king suite and it was great, nice sea view and big bed. Air con was okay but room seemed warm all the time even when outside was only 69 degrees. Breakfast is extra but was very good. Dinner menu was limited, we had tacos fish and chicken with truffle fries. The tacos were a bit wet, but the fish and chicken was nice. The waiting staff were.... Interesting, perhaps tone it down? My parents and husband and I stayed here and loved it very much! The hotel staff was very pleasant to work with and very accommodating. Hung out at the bar one night. The patio was nice with fire pits and heaters. Even had a gentlemen playing guitar inside. Many guests had their dogs. The whole atmosphere was very relaxing. The room was very nice. Large and spacious with a keurig. Parking wasn't a issue, but we're not too sure how packed the hotel was.

I travel on business to the Torrey Pines area about once a month. Whenever I do, I stay at the Indigo Del Mar. It's a quirky, different kind of place. Colleagues either love it or hate it. I find it delightful. You have a view of the Pacific Ocean from multiple locations on the premises. There is a little lobby bar where you can order food, which magically appears, although there is no restaurant per se. It has the overall feeling that you are in a 1950s or 1960s Hollywood movie and the R... Read more

Have stayed at this hotel on 4 occasions now. The rooms are clean, although it's pot luck whether you score a writing desk, and internet connectivity can be a little unreliable. Putting that aside, it's clean, comfortable, and well located being a short walk to good restaurants and the nearby beach.

My husband and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The place was very nice and pretty peaceful. Near the ocean and you could see the ocean from some places but not from our room. We never went to the ocean. We were trying to decide what to do, ie Sea World, Zoo etc and decided the place was nice and calling us to just stay and hang out at the pool. That was just what the doctor ordered. When we got there the shower door wouldn't close so I called the front desk and the maintenance guy... Read more

Stayed here on a Friday for one night. Arrived shortly after noon and room wasn't ready, no big deal so we went to the pool. We were informed the restaurant/bar closed at 1:00pm so we ordered lunch and brought it to the pool since they don't service the pool area, both of which we found odd for a beach hotel in June. We had to go back to the front desk to ask for towels. Our room was ready at about 1:45 and luckily we were upgraded. The supervisor at the front desk was friendly. After reading se... Read more

I was really excited prior to my stay here, as this was the third Hotel Indigo for me, after two awesome ones I recently stayed at. Unfortunately, this hotel, while a solid choice, was a letdown. This used to be some independent hotel, I think, and for the most part, staying here feels like you're staying at a local, independent hotel. It wasn't bad, but it also didn't have any of the excitement that you get from an exciting brand. While Hotel Indigo properties are all supposed to be unique, th... Read more

Hotel located just a 15 min walk from Del Mar Plaza shopping area. It's a run of the mill 3 star establishment, and feels like it is being run to a set of laid out rules and regulations with no personal touches or deviations from the norm. For IHG members, it is way below expectations for customer care and acknowledgement, and do not expect anything different from other guests, apart from your welcome points. Food was good, breakfast available from 6:30 am, but bar only opens at 4 pm and shuts a... Read more

Have stayed here before with mixed experiences but the price is more reasonable so we tried it again. The bathroom was covered in mildew. We called the front desk and they said they would take care of it. Several calls later we were told that housekeeping took care of the problem. They must have sight troubles. The mildew was barely touched. I took pictures of the mildew to the front desk. The woman was clearly shocked and very apologetic. We checked out a few days early. The reviews are c... Read more

We stayed here for just 1 night last year. Possibly a little overpriced for the size or amenities , but that comes with the location. That being said, the room was well appointed, clean, nicely decorated, pet friendly bar patio and all in all a nice stay.

I only stayed here one night with some friends, we had early flights out the next morning and didn't want to bother our Del Mar host. It's a quiet, chic place in a neighborhood, we enjoyed wine by the outdoor firepit and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, much larger than your average hotel room. We hardly used any of the facilities or amenities but I can say it's a 15 minute walk into town.

This place has a world class ocean view especially if you get some of the higher rooms. The lower rooms, not so much, but if you hang at the bar or on the deck it is beautiful especially at sunset time. Walls however are paper thin so not a lot of privacy and noise carries easily all over hotel (example our Neighbpur had a dog you could hear barking for an hour). Our room also had a strange smell not sure what it was but If not for these two things I would have given the place a five.

Stayed here by myself for 3 days and with my 15 y.o. son for 2 more during and after the Surf Cup soccer tournament in Del Mar. I struggled on how to approach this review, since the entire experience just felt a little bit different. I booked this property very late and was approaching desperation. I used amoma.com and did NOT receive IHG points for the stay, but got a rather solid proce for what was a very busy high season Del Mar. The hotel is set down off of Camino del Mar about 3/4 mile ... It's still pretty pricey by our standards, but it's a 20 minute walk to beautiful Del Mar beach and the nearby businesses. There's a nice view from the pool area. We have stayed here several times now and it doesn't disappoint. The prices is very reasonable for the location. Most of the rooms are very comfortable, but a few are in need of attention. I prefer the building where the lobby is located. There is a great outdoor lounge area where you can enjoy cocktails while watching the sunset. Not right on the ocean, but only a short walk away. The decor is California casual. An easy walk into the main part of town for great dining opportunities.

I was therefore really thrilled to see what our hotel was and noted generally very positive reviews, tho some dissenters. My 5 star rating is based upon the rate we got: At that price this place is unbelievable. The building is really interesting and cleverly laid out, dating back to the 1940s.
