I really want to start with the positives, but I"m sitting here thinking about all the germs that may be crawling on me as I type this.Ok, the staff are amazing. Lisa in the restaurant. Luis in the rooftop bar. Anthony and Alea at the front desk. I mean attentive, genuine and helpful. Obviously the location is stellar. Perhaps they bank on that and just let the property go to hell. I mean I was cleaning my room every time I turned around.....because I kept finding nastiness....

I stayed here for business. Check-in was fast and easy. Staff was nice and polite. Hotel was clean. Parking was plentiful underground, but very expensive at about $25 a day. They have an on-site restaurant, and a bar that is open at night. Room was nice and clean, with a mini-fridge (no microwave). The front door opens out for some reason, instead of opening in, like normal. The beach is across the street, but you must cross PCH to get there. There is plenty of chances to cross, but you... Double tree was a bit pricey, but worth it!! Hotel was clean, room service was great, rooftop bar was awesome!! Ocean view could have been a bit nicer, but all in all.. I would definitely go back again! Doheny beach was super easy to access & beautiful!! This hotel was right in the center of San Clemente & Dana Point, which was a huge plus!!

I researched numerous hotels looking for an ideal place to stay near the ocean, and am very happy we chose this DoubleTree property. From the moment we arrived, each staff person was super-friendly and accommodating. The suite worked perfectly for me and my two older kids, and since the room has a sleeper sofa (which was surprisingly comfortable) we each had our own bed. The room has blackout curtains, and we all slept great every night. There is a road that runs in front of the hotel, but we ne... Read more

May as well be a roadside motel with decent rooms. Service was mediocre, pool was tiny, cold, filled with children. Breakfast was good. Don't expect anything romantic. The hotel is crammed into a tiny area between several roads. Surrounded by RV parks and highways, 15 minute walk to shops.

Stayed at the hotel for a weekend to attend a charity run/walk in Laguna Nigel Park. Rented two rooms on the third floor one with a king size bed and ocean view the other with two double beds and ocean view. The room with two double beds actually had no ocean view since the palm trees blocked all of it. This is a pet friendly hotel and our king bed room smelled like pet urine the entire time very overwhelming. The bathrooms are small and the shower door opens out so you end up flooding the bat... Our extended family of eight just came back from a weekend getaway to Dana Point to escape the weekend heatwave. Let me start off by saying that Dana Point has some of the best beaches in the OC and beats anything in LA. They are clean and not crowded and have some great learning experiences for children. Our kids love the Ocean Institute. That being said, this area does not have a large number of hotels to choose from as compared to Huntington Beach or Newport Beach. There are very high end pla... This was a very nice property with picturesque views of Doheny Beach and it's surrounding areas. Doheny Beach is actually right across the street. The hotel's rooftop bar area provided even more spectacular sights of Dana Point. Our room with a king, sitting area, and patio was pleasant. Bathroom was a bit tiny, however. But after talking to the manager who was very nice and understanding we were moved to a room with a real view of the ocean. (Thanks for the quick and helpful response!) I'm not a huge fan of DoubleTree as you really don't know what you're going to get. I don't mean that in a Forrest Gump kind of way. For example, this DoubleTree is so different than the one in Austin, and so different than others I've stayed at. The hotel is close to the beach though you have to walk through a camp ground to get there. Clean, nice decor but some short ups eye made during remodel. Our room had a pull out bed in the sitting area but no screen of privacy door that is shown in the website pictures. Hotel restaurant had pretty good food but priced for upper scale. Lastly, parking at $22.00 a day when we stayed over 5 days is ridiculous. For some of those small reasons we will think twice about returning. Staff was great!

This is an older property that has not been well maintained. It is fine, but no better than that. I was staying for business and was only there from late at night until early each morning. I would have been very disappointed to spend any more time than that in the hotel. The AC didn't work at all and only 1 of the 2 TVs in the room worked. We've stayed at the Doubletree twice. It's a fantastic location, nice surf theme, across the street from the beach and an easy drive down to San Clemente or to other Dana Point beaches - which we love - and up to Laguna Beach. The room space was nice, and the room was recently renovated and very clean. It's great for the 4th of July as you can see the fireworks directly from the property, and even from some of the rooms. The staff was very friendly, especially to my 8 year old daughter which she... Read more

We chose this hotel because it is close to the beach, and we were looking for a beach get-a-way. Our room was noisy as it faced the freeway, but it appeared that all rooms either face the freeway or the PCH. Our room was not ready at 4 PM when we arrived and we were told it would be just a few minutes and we would be texted when the room was ready. After about 45 minutes and no text, I checked back at the front desk. The room was ready but they just forgot to text me. The website states that che... Read more

Unfortunately everything from the room location to the wait staff service was poor at this location. They put us in a room with a window that did not have any window covering - so we had the nice, bright Doubletree sign shinning in the room along with car lights all night long. Only one employee at front desk, resulting in long wait to check in. Paid the large parking fee only to see massive empty lot as my view from my room. I could also see and hear the freeway. Overall I was pleased with my stay. Nice, clean room. Staff was courteous but not overly friendly, the exception being the valet staff who were excellent. Speaking of valet, it's $22 to park yourself or valet and parking is sparse so I'd recommend just going with valet. Only major issue was mosquitos which were everywhere. At one point a small swarm appeared in our room. The staff was prompt about moving us to another room (had us out and moved in 20 mins). I'd stay there again.

Service was average, not including the super stars I have previously mentioned in this survey. I would not recommend this hotel to a friend or enemy. Location is awful, homeless people living in the campground across the street. Not cool. Parking fee is almost rude.

The hotel itself is great but parking is expensive and inconvenient... same price for self park and valet !!! The staff is really nice and ready to help... overall it has been a good experience for me and my family!!
