this is our first stay at the vagabond..we live in mexico and travel stateside regularly. previously we always stayed at the goodnite inn...but have become disillusioned due noise, location, and demand for credit info (the code on back of card...which we never give out), even after years of staying there... we were happy with the vagabond. free internet, mostly quiet. the "breakfast" was only donuts, sweet rolls and coffee...a bit disappointing...location is fairly close to most of chula v... It's a so-so area, as far as the neighborhood goes. It is close to everything to do in San Diego, though. We went to the Ballast Point Brewery in Little Italy, the beach at Coronado and Henry's pub at Gas Lamp. There is also a park close by in Chula vista to watch the sunset. They put us in the handicapped room. The fridge and closet were in the bathroom which is a little weird, but if you were in a wheelchair it makes sense - Everything was low. They also had a lowering device for the dis... Read more

My mother and I stayed at the Vagabond as part of our cross-country bucket list trip. The young woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. She printed out directions for us to get to the beach, and provided another print-out of local attractions. Wifi worked very well. The room was comfortable, and we were hugely surprised at the balmy, cooler temps after travelling through Arizona. We enjoyed visiting the Coronado Ferry Landing and Mission Beach while we were in the area. We had roo... Read more

*Hotel is over run with shady people; obvious drug deals, prostitution and drama all hours of the day & night. *Got property stolen out of my car. The managers/owners do not care what riff raff hangs on the property as long as they're getting money. Over priced. *No "continental breakfast" (only pastry, juice & coffee) *Only plus - Room is decent;clean bedding & towels. *First room we were placed in there was a smashed cockroach on the wall. Second room had no bugs beside ants. Dirty wal... Read more

I am coming to San Diego for our Hilltop High Reunion This Saturday 8/22. I rated this hotel a 5 star, because back in the 60's a friend of the family owned this hotel.( he would be over 100 now) I cant climb steps very well, so I called the front desk, and she is putting me on the bottom floor. I really appreciate that. Not sure about the negative remarks about the undesirables hanging around. We even have that at one of our nice places here in Corona. I feel if they are bothing you, call the l... Read more

This is a very good hotel and I have stayed here many times in the past. The staff are very welcoming and if you have a problem it will be resolved. Fallon, the front desk employee is EXCELLENT! She always makes my stays here exceptional.
