This is a decent, though average, Holiday Inn Express. Location is very convenient to the interstate. As IHG Platinum who booked far in advance, I was a little surprised to be assigned a room next to the very loud ice machine. Strange. Room was very average with the typical HIE furnishings- could use some updating. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was clean. Severe shortage of outlets and none reachable from the bed, oddly enough. Wi-Fi was unreliable and had very slow speeds. Breakfast... Read more

This hotel is a lovely hotel to stay at. The rooms are clean and modern. All the staff are friendly, attentive and approachable. The hotel is in a good location with easy access to the train station within walking distance. The Wi-Fi connection was slow. Each time I had to keep login on to the Wi-Fi. The breakfast had alot of variety, but the same types of foods were given each day, and it became repetitive after a while.

Clean rooms, friendly and helpfull staff. They even had some packages waiting at check in that they were holding for me. :-) The breakfast was really quite good and had a fair amoungt of variety. More than I have seen in other Hilton Express places. The only thing I can think of that would make this place better would be a little more parking (but in reality there is suffecient) and a small in room safe. They have safety deposit boxes at the front desk but that is not always convenient. Othe... Read more

I checked into the room which was very clean and nice. No complaints at all except for the price.......I had no options in that I had just flew in and was extremely tired but I can tell you I could have stayed at a 5 star hotel for the same price! There were no conventions when I was there so I felt I got rearended so to speak when I learned of the price! The free breakfast was extremely good and the staff were very nice. I don't think I will stay here again only because of the extreme price fo... Read more

We arrived around 4 o'clock. We noticed the hotel was clean and well kept. Our room was nice and clean. The bed was neatly dressed. The bed was really comfortable. There was a nice TV and a chilled 4.5 cu foot refrigerator. The window treatments blocked the light really nicely. The bathroom was very nice it was clean and fancy. The staff was friendly and attentive. I was greeted everywhere I went. The next morning we enjoyed the free breakfast. They had several fruit juices, pancakes, che... Read more

I had to book a suite in this hotel for my family (5 of us) during a busy holiday in San Diego. All other hotels were booked, and we had few options. I am glad I ended up in Holiday Inn Express! 1- the location is 12-18 min away from Downtown, Old town, Coronado, Balboa park, The Zoo, Sea World, and Gas lamp district 2- The room clean, spacious, reasonably priced, and I think recently modeled. 3- Swimming pool small, but great for kids and adults (3 to 8.5 feet), and clean shakozy 4- plenty of ... Six family members were visiting for my son's high school graduation. Needed to find a comfortable & convenient hotel in Chula Vista, so naturally I booked with the TripAdvisor #1 ranked Chula Vista hotel. This location did not disappoint. Family members enjoyed the elaborate breakfast and commented on the excellent housekeeping services. Also, the front desk, especially Carlos, was both helpful and professional. Everyone will be returning next year and request to stay in the same location.

We were traveling with a party of six, had my nephew with us as well as my three teenaged daughters. We were impressed with the friendliness of all the staff members at the hotel. No one passed by without saying "hello", "good morning", or "have a good night". The room was very clean and updated, not to mention very spacious. We had a room with two double beds and a couch. The living room area was very nice, and the couch was pretty comfortable for a pull out couch. We were not disappointe... Read more

We wanted a hotel close to the border to go into Mexico for a couple days. We met our brother there so had an extra car to leave in USA. This hotel was so pleasant and let us leave our car in parking lot while we were gone. Every staff that we spoke with was exceptionally helpful. Breakfast area very clean with fresh food.

From the first time that I stepped into the hotel, the hotel front desk person was very friendly from the beginning. He offered us a great room with a great view towards the bay. This hotel is a great bargain for those that look for quality accommodations in the San Diego area. It is about 3 to 4 blocks to the San Diego Trolley for easy transportation into Downtown, or even to the border and go to Tijuana. They have great staff and a great breakfast offering. I would definitely stay here again!

This was a great experience. We had searched for a hotel with a suite for a reasonable price. So happy with this place. Nice people, attractive decro, clean, quiet, great price! It's very near the freeway but it wasn't loud in the room.

For the vacationer that uses their hotel room as home base, this hotel was the best. It was clean, efficient, located close to the trolly line, and the staff went beyond the call of duty. The breakfast was simple but good. I liked that there were also laundry facilities, and coffee, fridge, and microwave in the room. It took 15 minutes to get to the San Diego convention center. While not in the center of San Diego night life, it was nice to get back to a room that was quiet and just relax. Defin... Read more

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days while visiting San Diego. Overall I was pretty satisfied with the accommodations. There is parking in front of the hotel but more parking at the back also. We were on the 4th floor and the hotel was quiet and restful. Room had a flat screen with decent selection of channels. The wifi was free and I must say that the speed was actually great! Room had AC, minifridge and microwave. Bathroom was clean. Breakfast is free and there are some hot items as well. Its be... Read more

I grew up in San Diego, so know the entire area really well. San Diego is insane expensive in the summer for hotel rooms, so when coming here for work last weekend, my corporate web site steered me to this spot as it was more reasonable than hotels in the center of San Diego. I have been Platinum Elite with HGI properties for years, so know their hotels well. This particular hotel was very clean and despite being on a busy street, was quiet. Staff was very warm and it's a 2-min drive to the int... Read more

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel felt very clean. The pool was immaculate and it was outdoors. They have a grocery store right next door which i found to be convenient, traveling with children. The manager Carlos went out of his way to accommodate our every need. Our whole family was very pleased.

Conveniently located just off of Highway 5, it??s a typical HI-E hotel, but because of the location in Chula Vista, just south of San Diego, it??s a bit more expensive than other HI-E hotels. We paid on average 180$/night, including a breakfast. The rooms were the standard HI-E rooms, but surely clean. The airco in the room is relatively new, works well, but is not as quiet as it should be (I??m a light sleeper). As usual, there is the coffee maker and coffee in the room, as well as a la... The purpose of my trip was business, and I will admit that I was a little leery of a Chula Vista address. I am glad that I tried it. The front desk staff was friendly. The room was clean. The property is well maintained and most importantly, it was quiet. Breakfast was the typical HI free buffet, but it was good, the right temperature and plentiful. The staff kept the area clean and orderly. Parking in front is tight, and limited, but there is additional parking behind the property. The ... Read more

The property looks updated. The double queen bedded rooms is very convenient for a family. However, I would not call it a suite because the beds are not separated by a door. Also, the value for the price paid was too much ($240+tax). Lessons learned, don't booked a room on last minute basis. The breakfast buffet and the hotel staff were great. Lastly, the hotel carpet in the lobby and elevator area needs deep cleaning.

I was so relieved when I discovered this hotel. There are very few acceptable choices for hotels in the Chula Vista area, and I was so fortunate when I got connected with Carlos at the front desk of this hotel. He was so courteous, professional and accommodating. As a matter of fact, he is the best front desk worker I have ever encountered, anywhere! He made our stay so enjoyable. The check in staff was good, check out was fine as well. Hotel is an older building but has been renovated and modernized with nice modern rooms and amenities. The only downside we found was the hotel only had 1 elevator so the wait could be a little long when busy. The location of the hotel is near the I-5 as well as the trolley station making it easy to get to without or without a car. Room was clean and fresh. Overall the property was clean and I would stay here again.

CONS: If you rely on internet, forget it. Internet pops you off .. you have to sign in every time. In the a.m., Good Luck getting on at all. They have several HI to choose from, so it's trial and error. I am using my personal hot spot just to write this review after 45 minutes of trying to get on. PROS: Excellent staff, access off freeway, parking. It is very refreshing from congested San Diego and not too far. Chula Vista gets a bad rap because of crime, proximity to border, etc, but it is impr... Read more
