We wanted to stay close to downtown Chico, and by accident I had booked Americas Best Value Inn. It was an almost surreal experience. We were received by a very unfriendly clerk for check-in. It seemed that we had interrupted his internet experiences ... Our credit card requires a pin, which our friendly clerk demanded, as the machine would not extend beyond his desk. He was not joking. I then went behind the desk to input our pin. The room itself was awful, worn out carpets, worn out bed, bathr... Read more

This is the worst place I have ever stayed. We were moved from the room we got at first because the air conditioner didn't work. This room had someone's pocket comb lying on the floor. The next room did have a working air conditioner which was good because the room was 90 degrees because they don't turn on the air conditioner in anticipation of guests. The garbage hadn't been emptied and the towels appeared to have been picked up off the floor and rehung. There was black mold in the toilet a... Read more

Thank goodness it was only for one night. The room was in very much need of repair and update. The carpet in front of refrigerator was soaking wet, wouldn't be surprised if there was mildew under the carpet. Wall air conditioner unit worked poorly. When we entered the room it smelled mildewy. Everything tin room was dated. Afraid to turn on TV, looked like it may blow up. Bathroom cleanliness was questionable. Wall in entry was damaged, Not sure if bedding was cleaned, stripped off blan... Read more

I'd stayed at one other America's Best Value Inn in McAlester, Oklahoma which was quite nice, so we booked this one in Chico. My goodness. Not the same at all. The office was cluttered, the clerk was surly beyond belief and the room was small enough to make me think we were in England. They don't turn the a/c on until someone comes into the room and it was over 100 degrees when we arrived. Luckily it cooled down fairly quickly. Even when I called the clerk to ask for the location of a minimar... Read more

Pros: this motel is located conveniently to downtown Chico and Chico State. The front desk personnel are very helpful and friendly. Cons: it's quite noisy, and the amenities are below what I would expect for a room of this price. Needs some more updating, or a lower price.

We simply needed a place to stay in Chico while visiting friends. But here we not only had clean and functional rooms but particularly we had the warm welcome and care of the owner and staff. We felt very at home and comfortable. Throughout my winter travels on the West Coast, this is the only inn/motel that I have felt the wish to share specifically as a good recommendation to others.

I highly recommend this hotel as a great place to stay in Chico. It is well located in Downtown Chico and very reasonable. The staff are very friendly and courteous and the facility is very well maintained and clean. It is right across from a wonderful craft brew pub, The Winchester Goose, Chico Natural Foods, Amigos de Acapulco, Leon Bistro and many other great places all within walking distance. Transportation is great. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

The hotel was clean and accessible. A no frills hotel but provides great comfort. My experience with Josephine was of the greatest customer service experiences i've ever had. I would stay again in a heartbeat if only to experience such great customer service again.

I stay here often on business. Even though it is in the lowest range pricewise, I've never had a problem. Minor issues (need more towels, internet's out, etc.) are addressed quickly. The rooms and furniture are older, but always clean. No bad smells! (If you stay in low price motels, you know what I'm talking about.) Parking right outside your room is usual. My only complaint is easy access to wall outlets, and that's often an issue in older motels. No hot tub, but some rooms have Jacuzzi tubs t... Read more
