I wrote a review last month that stated that the front desk staff needed training and other improvements were needed to bring this hotel back to where it was in the past. Well I have received correspondence from the Management that assures me that the needed training is underway and a total review of the operation is underway. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU STAY AT THIS OUTSTANDING HOTEL WHEN YOU VISIT CARMEL, CA

Based on Tripadvisor reviews, I booked at the Carmel Mission Inn. This hotel not only met my needs, but well exceeded my expectations!! It is a renovated Inn, but done so very tastefully. We had a classic two queen bed room, but noticed the open patio rooms next to the pool and wished I had booked one of those rooms instead. This Inn will remind you of a spa retreat. Had dinner at the hotel restaurant and was very pleased with the service and quality of food.

The Carmel Mission Inn has a nice modern feel to it with rooms facing the pool with private patios and great roof top decks off of higher floors. They have a very pleasant staff and nice on site restaurant. The hotel sits between two large nice shopping centers that both have a multitude of restaurants and shops to satisfy any visitor.

We were traveling the PCH and needed a hotel for the night. We took a turn into Carmel-by-the-Sea and were price "shocked" by the hotel costs. We remembered that we saw a hotel on Rt. 1 and immediately headed back towards it. Luckily they had some rooms. Our King room was huge, comfortable, and with a large balcony that wrapped around the corner. I wish we were able to stay more than one night! The restaurant and bar area was incredible and modern. When we checked out of the hotel this morning we noticed a $4.95 charge on the bill for FSF. The polite and patient supervisor explained this was a fee for maintaining the facilities. My wife had been quoted a room rate of $249 per night plus tax, she did not recall being told there would be this additional fee. We asked the supervisor to credit our bill the $4.95. She said she did not have the authority to make this decision. We asked for the manager. She said that there was no manager on... Read more

The rooms were large, comfortable and had little extras such as bath robes. We made use of the evening happy hour (5-7pm) that offered reasonably priced drinks and a free buffet when you bought a drink which had pulled pork, casserole, fresh fruit, cheese and crackers etc. Great hotel and if we went back to Carmel we would definitely stay here. Unfortunately the woman supervisor on reception when we arrived was unhelpful and frosty it spoilt our first impression of the hotel. She was training a young girl who was delightful and I hope she does not pick up bad habits from her Perhaps the supervisor needs to go on a training course

We used this as a one night stop over whilst travelling up the coast. It is a bit of a walk from actual Carmel.....we took the car. Rooms very bright and spacious, also very clean. Beds comfortable . Located near a small shopping complex and restaurants which were handy. We had breakfast there which was a Buffett , plenty of choice and loads of fresh fruit. Service in the restaurant was good and reception staff were friendly. All in all a nice stay.

The overall condition of the hotel was good condition esp. the front lobby and pool area. The back parking lot and hotel corridors were dated and in a state of disrepair. Some construction was in process around the first floor exit door. The front desk employees where neither rude nor nice. The room was better that expected overlooking the pool deck - I rated the hotel overall very good b/c of the condition of the room, nice pool deck central location and extra amenities.

Unfortunately I don't have a very detailed review of the Mission Inn as we arrived later than expected. We checked in at 8.30pm but were welcomed by really lovely staff and were well accommodate by the on site restaurant despite the fact they closed at 9. The rooms were beautiful, although I am a bit of a frog and could have done with an extra blanket! Overall a really nice stay and an easy recommendation.

Cheapest place in Carmel that we could find at last minute. Room was clean with big bathroom. Buffet Breakfast was included and had decent selection so you can stuff your face. Pool was clean & nice way to burn off breakfast

We have been coming here for over 30 years. Liked the old hotel better but it's still a great place to stay. My review is for the four two room suites which are ground floor at each corner of hotel. Over the years we've stayed in all four. Lots of room and real two-room living. Two TVS. Den has comfortable couch and chairs and a third room--a dinning room. That's where the coffee maker and microwave are. BUT--no sink or running water. You have to go back through the bedroom to the bathroom. Ther... Read more

Hotel amenities and rooms are very well kept and clean. It is conveniently located across the street from Crossroad shopping which offers options for eateries and retail shopping. It is a short drive from Carmel mission and downtown. Conceige staff could appear a bit friendlier.

The hotel was on the outskirts of carmel, which was fine for us as we were driving. It was only a 10 minute drive to the centre and the beach. The hotel restaurant had great food and the room was delightful, a super comfy bed, a spacious and modern bathroom and a fab shower. There were also restaurants and shops across the road and a petrol station next door which was handy to grab drinks and snacks, and petrol if you're on a driving holiday.

Thought this was a nice hotel, perhaps a little too far from the main shops and restaurants of Carmel. It looks a little retro -not sure if this is intentional. Staff very friendly and helpful, and apparently a lot of people like it because it is so pet friendly. However, for those of us that were not aware of this, I found the place a little too dog friendly. When walking to breakfast one morning within the hotel, I was confronted by a very large dog not on a lead, not something I was expecting.... Read more

Hotel room styled lovely with bright aqua feature wall and clean. Hotel situated near shopping centre so restaurants and bars nearby but a decent walk into Carmel. Only ate breakfast at the hotel and it was ok although not hot enough. Didn't use many hotel amenities so unable to comment about pool area.

Stopped overnight whilst travelling from san fransisco to los angeles. Really quiet place might be time of year we went. Staff really friendly & helpful recommended places to see and eat at. Room had all amenities ,didn't use the pool. If you buy a drink between certain times you could get something to eat from their buffet. Really wonderful relaxing place. Would recommend.

I booked a room using Trip Advisor for the weekend of October 7th-10th at the Carmel Mission Inn. I put three adults in my search, my husband, myself and our adult son. The option they gave me was for their King room. One week before our stay, I called to check on the room and was rudely told that all three adults would be sleeping in one bed, and I should have known that when I made the reservation. I explained that many king rooms have hide away or roll away options and the fact that I stated... Read more

Loved Carmel Misson Inn, wished we could of stayed longer. My boys loved the pool & spa. Although our first impression at check-in wasn't the warmest the other staff we dealt with made up for it. Would recommend this hotel

Maybe it was the building, as there are several, but we found the rooms to be small and dated. While it was clean, we will pay a few more dollars in the future to get something closer to what we are used to.

We stayed here on the way to LA to break the driving up and it was a nice surprise. Just on the outskirts of Carmel by the Sea and just off the main highway its in a good location. We found our room to be ok and the hotel staff where friendly enough. The pool area was great and there were not many people around it. It was comfortable and big enough for us and it did the job. A short drive and you are in the lov lay town of Carmel.

We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. The location was just far enough away from the bustle to be relaxing, but close enough to everything that we were not put out. The property was clean and very comfortable. I traveled with my girl Abbey (dog) so I did not have the opportunity to enjoy the pool or dining area, but both appeared very nice. We would definitely stay again.

Carmel Mission Inn is a lovely hotel. Situated a few minutes drive from the main area of Carmel. Hotel is in a nice setting with a great setting. Restaurant and bar are lovely and the pool was an added bonus. Reception Staff and Bar/Restaurant couldn't do enough for you.

We were scheduled to do a seminar and there was a problem with my office's followup. I arrived at the Inn at 8:00AM and was told that there was no meeting room scheduled. The problem: There were 39 students (who each paid $139) coming at 8:30AM. Divina and I got into the Carmelo Room that we have used often in the past. It was not scheduled for that day, but was not set-up. Antonio and Jose of the restaurant staff were there, and I explained the situation. With no further ado the two of them se... Read more

We traveled the California coast for our honeymoon. We stopped into Carmel for two nights. The hotel was filled with older senior citizens and we were youngest people there. The rooms were kind of corny looking and one evening their water heater burst and we had to wait to shower before our dinner reservation until they got hot water back up. Decent stay for the price!!

Stayed here for a golf tournament and found the newly remodeled rooms very inviting. A bargain considering the area. Happy hour drink was $10 but includes a great little buffet/appetizer spread. Bartender needed more help and more mixology education, but did the best he could. Room 401 overlooks roof of building. The parking lot was always full and a bit tight to park. Room safe is a plus for me. No bellman service. Would stay again.

Nice place to stay while visiting Carmel by the sea. About a mile out of town. Nice older property. Yet updated with funky colors and decor. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool and spa area outside. Would definitely stay there again. While visiting Carmel.

We had a pleasant stay here! Jackie, our check in lady, was friendly and accommodating. She provided us with a map of the town and suggested several fun activities. Our room was spacious and the bed was so comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub and a delicious breakfast in the morning. I plan on staying again on my next trip to Carmel.

We had a fabulous day/night at the Carmel Mission Inn. It was so great that I wish we hadn't moved night two to the Intercontinental in Monterey which I thought was closer to our destination north of San Francisco but it actually was not that much closer than the Carmel mission Inn. We were placed in room 416. We had a marvelous view of the mountains in the background! I am a mattress snob and the mattress was very comfortable! There is a refrigerator in the room and there is an elevator to get ... Read more
