My daughter and I drove route 66 from Chicago to LA and I wanted to end our journey with a stay in a retro motel. I knew of the Safari Inn, having stayed at The Coast Annabelle 3 years ago, thoroughly enjoying the newly renovated room we had there. The Safari Inn is clean and definitely brings me back to a few childhood road trips with my family. I enjoyed the retro feel of the place and appreciated that it was clean and simple. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable, everything wo... Read more

The Safari is a small, comfortable motel with comfortable rooms and good services. The location is great in terms of sightseeing. The staff is very accommodating and we would certainly come back if we have another visit in LA

This is a great retro motel. It has been lovingly remodeled and updated, and yet it retains the charm of its 1958 sign. The folks at the front desk at check in were genuinely friendly and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable. There is a sister hotel nearby, with a restaurant called Olive's Bistro that filled the bill nicely for dinner. Check out was efficient and courteous. I'd recommend staying here if you are in the area!

We really liked this little motel ... Rooms were clean, quiet, and good-sized (bigger than the $250 room at the Marriott we'd just left), heated pool, though small, was wonderful after a day on our feet at Universal, and parking and shuttle were both free! (You have to reserve the shuttle; sounds like they don't always have a driver.) Great value for the money, but note that they require a hefty deposit. (It did come off our card within 2 business days.) The restaurant is mediocre but convenient... Read more

The Safari Inn is a 1960s one up, one down hotel that has been recently remodeled. Our room was clean and comfortable. The pool was very well maintained and a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. You can't beat the vintage neon sign out front. We chose it because we didn't want to stay in LA or Hollywood and because a friend recommended several restaurants nearby. Plus the prices for rooms was much more affordable. If you are tired of cookie cutter hotel rooms, this is a great a... Read more

I use that opening because too many people are choosing this out of the way wonderful hotel. I used to easily be able to get a reservation here and enjoyed my stays. Well maybe I wrote one to many nice reviews because they are always busy. Even if you are not staying here you can not miss stopping in and spending a few hours with everyones favorite Dennis at the bar.

The staff was great! The room was fine and big enough for the two of us. The mattress was terrible. I could feel the coil springs jabbing me. I did ask the front desk if they could change it out, but was told probably not due to it being a Saturday. We went for breakfast and came back to what looked like maintenance in the process of changing it out. We left for the day and came back to what we thought was a different mattress. It wasn't...It definitely was the same mattress. Didn't say anything... Read more

This historic hotel is easy to get to and is close to Universal Studios. We had a king mini studio with a small pull out couch and full kitchen. They have a heated pool and restaurants near by. The staff is friendly and helpful. They offer a free shuttle to the airport and Universal.

Haven't stayed here but my daughter will be in August this year. She is 19 and will be travelling on her own. I read the reviews and noticed it's over two floors and that you needed to book the shuttle bus to get to Universal Studio. So I emailed asking if possible could she have a room on the second floor and enquired about the shuttle. Within 15 min I received an email back from Melanie informing me that she had allocated her a room up stairs over their office. Also booked her on the shuttle ... Read more

We stayed at the Safari Inn for 7 days during a visit for my mother's funeral. The hotel is very central to many Burbank commerce, Universal Studios and close to several highways. We found the theme fun and family friendly. We took advantage of the pool and top deck, brought our pooch with us and traveled to Universal Studios on the complimentary shuttle. All services were provided by friendly staff and the room was comfortable and accommodating. I would stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel 1 night. Im sure 50 yrs ago this place would be considered fine. The décor is so old it appears unsanitary, this is a motel so your room door opens to the parking lot. The carpet is so old and matted that I didn't want to take of my socks. The road noise from outside is so loud its like having episodes of cops on the TV all night while you try to sleep Just saw this advertised for $300/night, are you kidding me.

Stayed at this hotel 2 nights. yes this place was cool 50 yrs ago the décor is old but the room was clean enough. Its one of those motels where you might see crime scene investigator turn up to remove a body the room door even opens to the parking lot. The carpet is so old and matted that I didn't want to take of my socks. The manager told us not to go to the Hollywood sign or the walk of fame due to concerns about safety (lots of pickpockets muggers etc) good advice we went to the Griffith obs... Read more

Our stay was unpleasant. We booked a non-smoking room and we were forced to stay in a smoking room. All of our clothes ended up smelling like cigarette smoke!!! It was horrible and the front desk wasn't much help. They claimed that they called us several times and left messages when a non-smoking became available. We only received one call in the afternoon and they did not leave a message. At that time of the day we were riding rides at Universal Studios. They also stated that because we didn't ... Read more
