We have been visiting San Francisco for the first time and staying at the Berkley Doubletree. The hotel and grounds and restaurant offerings are lovely. We are most impressed, however, by the unfailingly cheerful and helpful service we have received from the entire staff. They are very welcoming. We would like to mention Mr. Jamal Bedford of the valet staff. On our very confusing first day here he took a lot of time to patiently explain to us where we needed to go to find what we were looki... Read more

The location is nice and its very clean. But you can see it's age. The staff were very helpful and aggressively addressed any problems. I like the quilted mattress, but I kept rolling down into the middle. The meals in the conference were usually cold. And the silly card-key system for self-parking created too many backups.

Clean with very helpful staff. Many nooks and crannies to sit both indoors and outside along with walking paths. We did notice dogs on the walking paths so it appears that at least some rooms may be pet friendly. Be aware that there is now a charge for self parking which is an added fee from our previous visit. Fresh cookies upon arrival...always a nice surprise, but they do have nuts in them.

The good: It's a lovely property, and I really enjoyed walking around the marina in the mornings...esp watching the fog over the water. The staff is very helpful and professional. Snacks and drinks are provided throughout the day. The gym was adequate and there were multiple pools. The bad: Wifi slow. Even surfing the internet was painful. Am unsure if this is the fault of the hotel b/c our phone data and reception was horrible here. Room was nice, but given the price, we expected som... Read more

Good hotel overall - I would stay here again if coming to the Berkeley area. Room was clean, housekeepers & staff were excellent - they always greeted me in the hallways when I walked by them. I'm a Diamond with Hilton if that makes any difference in your opinion of my review. Stayed at this location for one night. Was placed in a room with a broken doorknob. Make sure you check your doors before you leave your room. Reported the incident and we were placed into a different room but that kind of sucked cause we were confined in our room for a few hours cause we could not leave our belongings. This prevented us from getting to see the facility and all the views before it got dark.

Doubletree Berkeley Marina is a nice, calm, escape from the rush of everyday routine. The rooms are comfy. You can take a walk along the bay and see all sorts of wildlife, including reptiles. It's a very serene spot. Go to Trader Joe's on Powell & Shellmound, stock up on healthy microwave dishes, snacks, and drinks (BRING YOUR MINI MICROWAVE), and just relax and enjoy the scenery. the doubletree at Berkeley Marina is an awesome place. Its not super modern or ultra high-end, but I bet its the place to be in the summer. I stayed in October 2015 for business and it was a great place to eat, drink, and meet with clients. Very nice staff and Hilton top notch service. The marina is awesome and I wished it was summer, but I was there on business anyway. Next time I'm anywhere near San Fran or Oakland I'll try to stay there again.

Checked into the hotel last Tuesday. I chose my room prior to check in on the Hilton Honors site. The map showed my room overlooked a court yard.... wrong - it was a parking lot. I called the front desk and requested a room change and was moved to a room overlooking a roof. I guess that was better - they could have given me a marina view. My wife and I were heading to a wedding in Sausalito. With a projected return trip home of 2-3 hours we decided to stay in a hotel. So my first choice is always a Hilton property if possible. So I decided to try this Doubletree at the Berkeley Marina. Great location, off of University Ave. We had a King Bed room looking out into the parking lot, but wasn't noisy at all. We like to stay here when we are in the Bay Area. The staff are very helpful and pleasant, and we were upgraded to a view room overlooking the marina since we are Hilton Honors members. Access to the hospitality room is a nice perk, and it is well stocked with snacks. This is an older place, and the bathroom is very small, but well kept. There is self parking, with gated access, but you pay for it. Good place for kids.

Our stay though a short one, was great! The housekeeping, front desk, valet and F&B staff were very hospitable and helpful. They always seemed very happy and positive which makes any hotel stay so much better. There were many rooms booked by our party since we were there for a family reunion heading on the Hornblower dinner cruise. It's so convenient to embark and have the after party outside of the lobby! Expect better quality when a hotel has the Hilton brand name attached. Have severe allergies to feathers and they still had down products in the room. When asked to change it out, staff took way too long to find non down products. On top of it, thru the blanket and pillows on the bed and didn't finish taking the rest of it out. Nice location for those visiting Berkeley or looking for a less expensive option close to San Francisco. The hotel is located next to a state park and quite isolated from the rest of town - a car is necessary. Rooms are smallish, but adequate. Those on the third floor have vaulted ceilings and are very quiet. Hotel staff is efficient, friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed one night at this hotel while passing through Berkeley. The hotel itself is older, but the common areas are well kept. The room itself was in need of a little refreshing, but it was clean and more than comfortable for a one-night stay. The service was particularly noteworthy, and upon learning we were on our honeymoon, the hotel staff went out of their way to make sure we were well tended for. This extra effort was very much appreciated.

Easy on off the highway but secluded with great views of the marina and Caesar Chavez Park. Check in was easy and friendly and I got a cookie. They even gave me room options so I got to choose a high floor. The hotel is 4 stories with 5 buildings. The hallways and elevators are a bit tired but the room was modern, clean and spacious. the guy that answers for room service was awesome. Hotel has a restaurant on site, but nothing else in walking distance.

I have been in many Hampton inns that have much better rooms than this one. If it had it been for the nice pool area I would have given just 1 start. Our room had a door to the outside that was not really opening, we had a dirty blanked and the hotel overall had the feeling of a place that has not been remodeled in a while. Even the Hilton honors lounge, a nice idea, had barely anything inside. Large pool with a nice sauna. The gym was so so, limited space, average equipment.

Room was nice, property beautiful, food was expensive. My daughter is disabled with pulmonary hypertension. We paid for valet parking. There was no valet 2 times in one over night stay. We were late to our event when it took them 30 minutes to find someone to go get our car. TWICE! Customer service at this facility is the worst I have ever had.

The hotel had a nice view of the Golden gate bridge. There was a restaurant near by that was called Skates on the Bay. There is also a park nearby the Cesar Chavez Park which has a nice walking path. A restaurant dinning area is located at the hotel. We had our breakfast there every morning. I want to recognize a server in the dining area. Her name was Dawa and she provided great customer service. I wish I would have asked her what her last name was. Overall, our room was facing the marina... Read more

If you need to go to Berkeley, I would definitely recommend the Double Tree Marina Hotel. Yes, it is old and dated but the staff, food, location and service made up for the dated hotel. Convenient location off the freeway and On the Marina. It felt safe and everyone was AMA ing and friendly. Good place to stay near Berkeley but out of the madness. Free shuttle available To avoid driving or parking in town.

The location is nice although a tough set of roads to get there. Staff was not as accomodating or Friendly as I would have wished. But they took care of any issues I had. The restaurants were very nice and limited but delicious menu.

We will definitely stay here again. Beautiful property. Buildings are very secure. Enjoyed the food. Only problem was that we never had access to the Hilton Honors rooms. Very disappointing. Overall very good. Grew location.

We live fairly close to this hotel, so it's our getaway close to home when we have a sitter for the kids. LOCATION: PHENOMENAL! This hotel is literally ON the waterfront, with incredible views of and across the SF Bay. Next to the hotel is an amazing park with a trail that goes about a mile around. On weekends, lots of kite flying is done here. It is also very close to the 4th street shopping area and many wonderful restaurants. ROOMS: Rooms are fairly standard. The beds are comfortable... ** The furniture, especially the bed was old. The mattress gave me a terrible backache. Everyone would slam the doors and it would wake me up. I could hear the toilet flushing from the next room. The staff at the general store made me feel like I was bothering her with my coffee request.

Valet was on 'dinner break' when we got there, only discovered after my husband walked in to see what was up--especially poor service as they charge $19/night for valet. We gave up and went to self park, for $16/night. Then we checked in and found our room was as far away from where we parked and so we moved car. Not impressed.

Great location, comfortable beds, attentive service - can't ask for more when visiting the Bay area. Great views of San Francisco skyline across the bay. Restaurant seemed a little pricey but the breakfast buffet was excellent - lots of variety and very attentive staff. Easy to get to Berkely University, either by bus or car (walking if you want to go more than a mile). Right next to a lovely park with a nice trail along the water.

We've stayed at a couple of different places near UC Berkeley and this is always a great option. Choose a room with a marina view for sure! Customer service is usually great and we've enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the mornings and dinner/drinks in the bar at night. Just walking around the grounds/marina area is fantastic and I love waking up to views of SF and the Golden Gate Bridge on a clear day!

This is an older hotel but has remodeled rooms with great beds. An excellent value for $154/night. We stayed here because it was close to our daughter who we were visiting. No issues and we will stay here again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay at this hotel overlooking the marina. Mattress, pillows, comforter all comfortable. I took a one hour walk with my dog around the marina and beyond which has stunning views of San Francisco, lots of kites and people walking. It takes approx. 10-15 minute drive to get to UC Berkeley. There is no BART access in the area. With a car, it is a great location even if you want to go into SF. I didn't eat in the restaurant but ordered room service for Eggs Benedict w... Read more
