I stayed at this hotel recently for a large convention. We had a wonderful time, but the hotel is still in need of a remodel. There are areas that are dark, dirty with broken locks or where your key card won't work. Most of the balconies and patios are still missing chairs or tables. Our room was clean and well maintained. Staff was excellent. Food was good.

Also posted this on yelp, but cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We had two excellent overnighters recently. First is location: it's great to be easy off/easy on to Hwy 5 or 99; Bakersfield is not a small town anymore, and easy access to the freeway is a big plus. Second is the incredible service from the staff at the front desk, in the restaurant, housekeeping, everywhere. Erica especially at the front desk was fantastic. Very, very happy with the easy check-in and check-out... Read more

Outstanding Hotel with a great location right of the 99 Freeway. Friendly and attentive staff. Clean rooms with a great price! My entire trip was a success due to the ease and comfort of the Bakersfield Double Tree Hilton. I would highly recommend anyone traveling to take advantage of this great hotel. Lots of great eating spots close by as well.

The staff at this hotel exceeds the hospitality requirements by far. Ericka at the front desk is a wonderful employee always greets me with a smile and my name, Renee always stops to say hi, and Bambi in the mornings when I go to breakfast is amazing with a smile a greeting and makes my early morning experience a joy to start my day off. I have yet to walk through the facility and not have every employee look me in the eyes and stop and greet me with a hello or how are you this morning. This hot... Read more

Two night. stay in this large property near a bad part of Bakersfield. The noise of the freeway was constant. Rooms had balconies but no chairs to enjoy sitting on them. Large outdoor pool with jacuzzi in the interior courtyard. Wi Fi was sporadic. The staff was friendly enough but not overly interested in outstanding customer service. It is unfortunate that I may have to stay there again next year. Difficult to get room cleaned in a timely manner.

The lobby area is nice and modern along with a Starbucks. The rooms nned to be remodeled. I would guess that it was built in the 70s due to the center courtyard, balconys and room layout. We were there for a convention, otherwise we wouldn't have styaed. Not up to Doubletree standards. We even had to ask for their famous cookie! It is located right off the 99 highway and boy we sure felt it in our room. If you stay here be sure to ask for a pool side or courtyard side room so the highway ... Read more

Though we are frequent travelers, and are members of rewards plan with this hotel chain we do not recommend this particular hotel in Bakersfield. There are better ones. The price is fine. The facility is old, and not fresh. The welcome was not there (usually is with Doubletree) apart from the cookies. You can get a whole box of good cookies at Costco which is nearby. First, let me say the staff here are very nice and friendly. When you walk by, they greet you and are quick to offer advice about where to eat and what to see while in Bakersfield. The hotel is convenient to everything, and sits across from the (at this time) number two rated Trip Advisor restaurant in Bakersfield. It's in a great area. The room is clean and pretty. The rooms were a bit dated and we had several "water bugs" which we had to kill upon our entrance into the room. However, the staff was courtesy and prompt with our request for additional towels. We definitely didn't get what we paid for considering the towels were stained, the pillows fell flat, and the neighbors were loud and smoking weed on their balcony. With that in mind I would say this is not a family friendly hotel and would not recommend this to family or friends in the future.

I have stayed at this hotel every September for the last five years. The rooms are starting to show their age. Front desk staff Should be a little more customer service friendly. Hotel restaurant staff very friendly, but food is so, so. Grounds are well kept.

Beautiful hotel, fantastic staff. For a Hilton type hotel, I would expect more attention to the cleaning details. The bathroom light fixture looked as though it had not been cleaned for years! Otherwise, fairly nice.

Amazing upgrade and the hotel is fantastic! Very comfortable, quiet, and the staff goes above and beyond to make sure everything with the stay is right. Whenever I return to Bakersfield CA area, this hotel is where I will be staying.

I'd say that overall, the reviews of this hotel have been a tad harsh. I found it to be clean, well maintained, and to have engaging staff. The basic design of the hotel is a large "U" of guest rooms around a courtyard pool area. The pool area with gazebo may be a bit kitschy, but it will be a great place for the family on a typically hot Bakersfield day. It is also a better view than the highway or adjacent businesses. The fitness room has several pulley machines, dumb bells, two treadmills... Read more

Great staff and service. Good location and connection to local establishments. The whole experience was good both form an objective and subjective point of view. The rooms were roomy and they had all the services I needed.

I-99 runs right next to this hotel on the East side. Request a room as far away as possible. Breakfast is a ripoff; $14 for the same items you get for free at a continental breakfast at any other hotel. Don't touch the weird chest-level knobs in the shower.

The hotel is nice, modern, clean and comfortable. It is located close to the freeway so it is easy to access. The rooms are OK, nothing special. We did not try the breakfast as it was not included in the room price. For a place like Bakersfield we feel that the price was too high.

Not happy with the breakfast at Double tree in Bakersfield. Other than the food everything else was good. Breakfast was cold and price was very high to eat there. We were disappointed because we like Double Tree for a hotel.

We stopped at the DoubleTree because it was ideally located for our needs, near the business we were to visit the following day and directly across the street from one of our favorite Bakersfield restaurants. We used the digital check-in and got the room we wanted with nothing more than a pass-by of the desk to collect our key and our COOKIES! While hard along side Hwy 99 we heard virtually no "freeway noise." The staff is excellent and fully lives up to the Hilton promise to provide friendly... Read more

Clean, spacious, comfortable room. In house restaurant was a nice touch. Friendly staff. Not sure what else I can say. Our stay was a positive experience and under certain price conditions I would stay here again.

We were pleasantly surprised about the quality of property and rooms. The staff was very professional, congenial, and informative. Extra efforts was made to obtain further details about questions we had of the local area and directions on locations of interest. The rooms are very roomy and comfortable, including the bed.

The hotel has something comforting and old fashioned about it. It does feel very individual. The mid century style is palpable throughout the hotel. We loved the lamps. Everything is very pleasant and the hotel makes a very roomy impression.

Restaurant service very poor, front desk service very poor, room not refilled with products used, bar not completely open liquor cabinets still locked, had to ask about Happy Hour, served beer and wine in plastic glasses at $6.50 apiece!!

Not worth the money. It should be $20 cheaper. The rate was too high for what was offered. There are light fixtures missing in all three of the conference rooms. They did make big improvements to the doors and room locks.

My overall stay was horrible! Bed sheets were ripped when we arrived. Not only that but my family left the A/C on and when we came back we came back to a leaking roof that had damaged our belongings. I called the front desk and someone came in, their solution? Told me to keep the A/C off. Yes, they offered me complimentary breakfast, but for only half of my family! How was I supposed to tell my family that only half of them would get breakfast??! They told me I would receive a call from the gene... Read more

A rather old but well maintained property. Conference room rates are reasonable, making it a good choice for small-to-medium local conferences. Friendly staff make an extra effort. Sleep rooms are larger than average. My room looked out on a freeway, yet the room was quiet-- maybe it had double-paned windows? The complementary WiFi was sub-par, such that I just used my 4G connection. I liked the firm mattress.

Overall this hotel has great scenic areas, however the rooms definitely need some upgrading. Service is normally great, beds are soooo comfy!!! TV works, wifi works, servers at the cafe are very attentitive. They have a small starbucks area, cute bar, clean communal areas. Staff is very polite when delivering a noise complaint(thank you). There are few service issues that you might expect at any hotel. The website may have not outlined specifics in rooms for reservation as I had to remind the gu... Read more

A Super nice person greeted us at the counter, checked us in quickly and we enjoyed our stay. The fresh cookie was a nice touch and the room was super clean with the air conditioning on and a nice patio to walk out on. Victory at last! Thank you Double Tree.

We had water leakage in our room, clear evidence of mold (black spots) on the ceiling, and saw sagging ceilings in dinning areas. Many people don't why sometimes we just don't feel good... we think it's the travel in general. But 25% of us are sensitive to mold with hidden symptoms, and we don't know how it affects us! Watch out for the mold!

This is an old sprawling two story hotel. In desperate need of a make over, but the staff are really nice, the rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Should request rooms towards the front half of the hotel. The back side is dark and creepy. A/C is old and struggles to work. Located near the freeway and restaurants.

This property is quite old and in disrepair. Unclean floors in guest rooms. Worn and buckled carpet in hallways. Elevator access is minimal and a lot of walking required from the elevator to many rooms. No handicap ramps at any of the secondary entrances, requiring lugging heavy luggage up several steps.

Our stay at Doubletree was an emergency visit from 4 states away when our son had a motorcycle accident. The staff there was so very personally caring and kind and went above and beyond what was expected, bringing us extra ice and bags for ice packs and even praying for us. Awesome hotel, wonderful people.
