While you simply can't beat the views from the WL Resort and strolling around the property and the kitchen garden is lovely and relaxing, I have to say that this stay was somewhat disappointing. We wrestled to get our key cards to work in the door every time we went back to the room. Even after getting both replaced, it took 7-8 tries to get them to work. Our mattress was "broken" on one side of the bed, to where the person sleeping on that side felt like they were falling out of bed all nigh... Read more

Comfortable large rooms with exceptionally comfy beds and a lot more space than expected.. GOLD restaurant is outstanding. Best steaks we have had in years. Exceptional value. Spa services were wonderful. Only shortcoming is the dire need for either a steam room or dry sauna for relaxing after a great massage.

Our daughter got married at Westward Look on May 29th. Chris, the event manager did a fabulous job helping us to have the perfect day. We have 30 rooms blocked for our guests. Everyone enjoyed their suite rooms. Housekeeping did a great job and everyone was pleased with their rooms. The food at the resort is delicious. We have many meals over our week stay. The service, food and presentation was so good. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful to everyone. Overall, I could not say anyt... Read more

I enjoyed my stay with this resort, however, it would of been nice if they had mentioned when we checked in that we have to ask for a microwave. Our visit was almost over by the time we found out, that we could of had one. Also the shower needs to be reconfigured. I had to get wet before I could figure out how to get to the hot water. It also spilled out of the shower onto the floor and formed a puddle behind the toilet. Slippery!

the lush desert environment made up for the fact that the mirror was not hung on the wall but leaned against the wall. The (made of leather I believe) chair in the room was severely scratched up on the arms of the chair, killing the aesthetic vibe one usually feels at a well kept hotel. We then feasted our eyes upon the bottled water that tacked on more money if opened. This gave the feel of " we really don't care about your experience, we are simply want money." Over all I was happy with my stay. The room was very nice. My only complaint was the distance to the Catalina ballroom from our room. We had a complimentary breakfast but my husband was unable to attend due to a disability. The staff was very reluctant to allow me to take his meal to him. They finally gave me a take box to bring him something. Your resort was pretty far from the convention center, which was a major set back for me. Among the exclusive Tucson retreats, the Westward Outlook is one of the older, but well maintained properties. This is not necessarily a liability. It is conveniently located on great, extensive property with equestrian stables, tennis courts, two pools (lap and open), spa, gym, bar, restaurants, and a variety of rooms and convention facilities. As a retreat, the room layout is inward-looking, introspective. We had a spa suite, with its own private, fenced, secluded courtyard with lounge chairs,... Read more

The site is wonderful, resort atmosphere a welcome change of pace from standard "business hotels", and price (on government rate) couldn't be beat. Negatives: There is a "fancy" restaurant, apparently quite good (superlative breakfasts!), but we never can eat dinner there because it's closed Sun, Mon and Tues . . .Food in the "bar-restaurant" is only so-so, The physical facilities are dated, and puzzlingly some furniture old, scarred, like water damage that stripped varnish from the main dress... I stayed at Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort for five days while attending a conference. While the room was clean enough, my family and I noticed that just about everything needed to be updated and/or remodeled. I don't understand why this hotel gets such good reviews. There are a few good things about it. 1. The location, in the Catalina Foothills, is excellent and the landscaping of the property is lovely 2. The room had a comfortable bed. 3. The pools looked nice, but I didn't use them. 4. In general, the staff were friendly. The negatives. 1. The furniture in the guestrooms and public areas is old and dated, something you'd find around 1950 2. My husband and I have stayed here off and on for the past ten years. Great memories. Our last stay was about 5-6 years ago. During most recent visit (2016), the room seemed runned down. The couch was frayed, the paint was mismatched in the entry , there were bugs in the light fixture. There were no fitted and top sheets for pull out couch/bed. The soaps are gone. My family and I don't stay at resorts like this too often, so I can't compare it with the Ritz. We had a fine stay in one of the more distant rooms, making for a bit of a hike to the nice pool. The room was large, the bathroom was quite spacious and nice, and parking was easy. We were in Tucson when it was 109 degrees, so I reckon that was the reason for the hotel's emptiness. Not sure why we had to be so far away when there were so many empty rooms. The lobby and grounds were lovely and hi... Read more

Its difficult to rate because it wasn't that we had a bad experience, its just that the rooms are showing their age. the couch when you first walk in, you notice right away the wearing on the arms. This is a great place to stay. The staff is awesome, very accommodating with your requests. Pool is fun for the kids and the rooms are large. The look out bar has live music on the weekends. The staff were very friendly and our room was spacious and clean. Great resort with good facilities - pools, gym, trail and well maintained gardens. Whilst the bed is comfortable the rooms could do with a refurbishment. Lookout bar food ok, although service average and music too loud. Upon entering the room it was well appointed with one very disappointing factor. The upholstered furniture was completely worn out. I had asked for a west facing room but didn't get that. The room we got was located on the east side of the resort. Walking to it in the dark was difficult and it was strange to see that the ... Westward Look has a unique setting with a lot of potential. But the decades have not been kind to this Tucson tradition. I have stayed at or attended events many times at Westward Look since the early 1980's, it is a nastalgic place for me. Over the years it has lapsed into a strong need of a serious facelift and TLC. Westward Look has fallen from it's perch as a place to remember to a rather ho hum" resort" hotel. Service, food, ambiance, all seem to reflect some corporate image of how a multi star hotel should perform. Deduct 25% from the cost of your stay and you would at least have value for your money spent. Desultory staff and tacky rooms are not what I would expect from an expensive stay at a marginally resort hotel. Although it would be acceptable at a Hotel 6.
