We loved the amenities at the resort. The pool was beautiful. But the service was horrible. It took more than 30 minutes just to get a drink and longer to get food outside. The waitresses did not notify us in advance and just kept blaming the kitchen. The room was ok, a bit lower than the typical Marriott standards, but it was clean and comfortable.

Second times staying at this hotel. Very nice staff. Rooms clean hotel is excellent location close to restaurants and airport. Except I left my charger in the room. My fault called the next day it was not found. I was 100% sure where I left it in the room. My bad.

I love this resort. I am never in the room much but I use the grounds and pool area to the max. I have always had a good experience at the buffet breakfast and room service for breakfast orders. Just be cognizant of where the front deskplaces your room. I have had a room with a patio, a room facing a mountain, a room near the pool, a room facing the city, and a room facing the parking lot. Just ask and maybe they can accommodate your room preference. Love that the room has a separate vanity fro... Read more

I have stayed here several times, but have not been there in 10 years. I live right down the street from the place and I forgot that it is an oasis in the middle of Phoenix. We went there for a wedding and stayed the night. When you see this place from the freeway it looks like an office building my boyfriend had never been to the place and when you drive up the back side of the hill and step inside the lobby it is secluded even though you are surround by a freeway. the hotel is built right i... I've been coming to Phoenix for a working vacation on Memorial Day weekend for over a decade (nearly two!), and my company regularly puts me up at this resort. My group always has an amazing time, and on my most recent stay Vanessa's service at the pool on Friday and Saturday was top-notch. We're a rowdy group and she not only gave excellent service but she was entertaining and very patient with our numerous orders. There does appear to be a recent yellow jacket colony issue near the pool that ... Read more

Came here to sleep, unfortunately the wooden blinds and lack of curtains made this room very bright, am a "light" sleeper, it would be a great idea if they installed heavy curtains that could be slided over the windows. I called the front desk and they suggested to stay " resort side" in the future, they were nice about it but sleep is gone.

Sure, this property is unique and has great views if you have NE facing rooms (looking towards Tempe). The way it's built into the mountainside is uncommon and creates an interesting layout...but this hotel is a bit tired. If it were in a different location, you'd view it as a standard, outdated Marriott. The rooms need updating. Don't face the pool if you want peace and quiet.

The unique layout of the rooms (long wings built into the rocks) puts you close up to the butte. Top of the Rock restaurant was fabulous with their "Happy Hour" specials, as was the breakfast buffet. Very recently stayed two nights here on business. A bit inconvenient to walk to your room from the main lobby, but the courtesy of the entire staff, the beautiful pool area inset into the mountain, and the quality of food served at both "The Top Of The Rock" restaurant and the Lobby Lounge, make up for that distance. Of course, you can opt to be shuttled to your room by the bellmen. Special recognition goes to Chef Brandon Mensian of the Lobby Lounge restaurant. We had a very memorable meal ... Read more

Stayed here because it was a host site for a conference I attended, and I was very pleased for multiple reasons. Here are some: 1. Wonderful view. Built on a butte, the hotel looks down on Tempe and downtown Phoenix. My room faced east, so I enjoyed morning sun and even a rising moon. 2. Scenic grounds. There are walking paths with trees, shrubs, flowers, cacti, and even a few lizards scurrying about. Two swimming pools provide plenty of space to soak up sun or get a break from the "dry h... Love the breathtaking view and the unique styled hotel. The pool area is gorgeous!!! The landscape is wonderful! Would definitely recommend staying here. Loved the location as well. Not your typical Marriott but it was worth it just for the pool and hot tubs it provided. Staff was also very friendly!

Wonderful property close to the airport (far enough not to hear the air traffic) and Mills Street. Plenty of dinning options in the area however recommend dinner at The Top which is on property for one night. Stayed here for 1 night after spending 6 days in Sedona. My only regret is not staying an extra night.

Beautiful and peace place to stay, wake up in the morning and have a nice walk in the surroundings. Each square meter is brilliantly architecturally exploited. Some employees were very polite and helpfull but a minority of them were very cold. Rooms had many amenities, the newest (3rd floor) many more than the others (2nd and 1srt floor). Those in front of the pool are more free (you can open the door and go to the pool without fearing-2nd floor). The others (3rd floor and in all those who are... Read more

This is my usual "go to" place when staying in the greater Phoenix area. Good access to highways and the airport. Lovely pool area. I do wish there wasn't a premium added for parking; that's kind of a nuisance tax. I've had great recommendations from the concierge there regarding restaurants in the area.

Had a quick but relaxing 1 night stay here. Staff was helpful with any questions I asked. It's a place worth exploring with all the steps and walking paths that are outdoors. I think you would need to stay at least 2 or 3 nights to get full use of the facilities there. As for the rooms they are getting kinda dated but I still liked it. The hotel staff was what I appreciated most about this hotel. This is a wonderful group of people. In particular, I would like to mention Josie who was working in the meeting room area. This is a very kind and caring person. This hotel may be a little older, but that gives it character. The views are beautiful and the rooms are comfortable. It was an easy commute from the airport so it was convenient for a company meeting.

I can't say enough positive feedback about my recent one week visit to the Phoenix Marriott Tempe at the Buttes! This hotel has good and not-so-good elements. The site is unique and spectacular; a mountain butte high above surrounding Tempe and Phoenix. You are very much in a small private world; there is nothing else on the butte. The grounds, which are carved into the butte, are beautifully maintained. Solid Marriott with nice view and good restaurant ( I did only breakfast which was great). Rooms are roomy and clean but the AC noisy like you are in power manufacturing site. Every time I come same issue. I assume all the room have the same problem. So if you are not sensative for heavy noise up and down all night its a great hotel

It is build, as the name suggest, on the side and top of a butte, which is a big hill that rises abruptly from the surrounding land.
