"I was a little surprised at the $20 resort fee. Is that pretty common these days? Because it didn't make this as much as a deal as I thought. However, there was free parking. I bought a Corona in the downstairs bar and it cost $6! However, the view was beautiful. I watched a goose poop in the pool (gross)! However, the front desk staff was very friendly. Room was very clean. Location is very convenient to the airport."

"Echo previous travelers comments on AC issues. Had to request another room with working AC unit. After 2 other choices, finally settled on a room. 3 day stay with no room or maid service during the entire stay. Hallways hot and carpets unraveling. Room fridge frozen and leaking, rotting the exterior of the unit. Overall disappointing property. Maintinance man asked if we'd like a floor fan instead of working AC. Not my idea of a high end hotel chain."

"NO lake view upgrade as promised which is why I chose this property, and why I chose my travel agency to make my reservation. The AC was not working very well, and was loud which made the stay very uncomfortable for a July stay, and it is very hot on the parking lot side. This property is old, falling apart and should not be part of the Millennium properties. I couldn't have been more disappointed."

"We stayed one night at the Millenium while traveling through Phoenix to San Diego. The weather was hot so we didn't enjoy the paddle boats or bikes, but the stay was very nice. Beautiful grounds and pool. Enjoyed the exercise facility and pool before leaving in the morning. Nice to have access to a sand volleyball court but the net wasn't great and although we brought our volleyball we didn't have time to use it anyway. Friendly, helpful staff. Our room was average and didn't face the beautiful view of the lake but the beds were comfortable and we slept well. Very conveniently located and we'd recommend it."

"We purchased a package that included a free upgrade to a lake front room, however when we arrived at the hotel, the front desk staff said we had no upgrade. After showing them our paperwork, they apologized but told us they had no lake front rooms available for any of the nights we stayed there. The carpets were old, dirty and disgraceful. The air conditioners did not adequately cool the room and were very noisy. The only bright spot was that the restaurant was excellent."

"The hotel was nice, nice 'lake' that provides free paddle boats, and catch and release fishing. Pool was okay, I was surprised pets were allowed in the pool area. The onsite 'gym' is sad, both running machines were not working properly, and, the work out room is kept at 85, which is not very comfortable. Parking is free, hotel has air conditioned room; however it is very loud. They don't list resort fees as part of the pricing, but you will be paying $17 plus taxes in addtion to cost of your room. The one thing that bothered me about the room was the sink had a horrendous sewage smell that came from the sink drain whenever you turned the water on. Disgusting!"

"I completely agree with the review that was submitted on April 2, 2012. While this hotel has a great location and a beautiful setting (pretty lake, nice flowers)...there are a lot of things that detract from the experience. It seems as though they are trying to cut every possible cost and it shows. The rooms are very outdated and while they are technically cleaned each day, the carpet and bathroom are SO old and stained, they never look clean. The water from the tap smelled 'fishy' and I was thankful for the flavoured water dispenser that they have in the lobby. We enjoyed the outside patio restaurant but the service was limited and inexperienced. We were enjoying a beautiful dinner the other night at 9:00 pm when one of the servers extinquished the lovely lanterns outside (even though there were still 4 tables of guests) before she left for the evening. It made us feel that we were unwelcome and it really was not necessary. They were lovely (3 of them) and could have been put out when everyone left for the evening. The check out process was 'poor' - no one asked us about our stay (probably afraid to ask) and certainly didn't smile or thank us for staying a week in their hotel. We couldn't get a drink by the pool one afternoon (cut backs on staff) and had to track someone down in the hotel (no one at the bar). My hair dryer did not work in the room and so I bought a new one at the store. I knew that nothing would happen if I complained! The bed was comfortable and the internet worked well...but I was charged $15 per day plus tax for the 'resort' fee - which was really only internet access. There were no special amenities whatsoever with the resort fee - which is fairly standard in other places (i.e. bottled water, robes etc.) We spent over $2,000 at the hotel for the week (2 rooms plus meals)...and I know that we could have had a very different experience at many other places. This hotel is completely resting on their 'location laurels'. I wanted to like this place a lot, and I stay in the area about 4 weeks a year...but I will have to find another place in the future. PS - the pool was freezing! Obviously no heat - just another cutback!"

"We spent the Easter weekend at the Resort and we extremely recommend this place. We arrived late on Thursday night to find out that the Pinon Grille (Restaurant by the Lake) was closing in 15 minutes. The front-desk guy went quickly and arranged for us to be served at the restaurant. Excellent food and an outstanding view of the lake at night. The service staff went the extra mile to serve us. We then were placed in one of the best rooms available, with unobstructed views of the pool, restaurant and lake front. There are complementary pedal boats for the lake, hammocks in the yard and nice walking trails by the lake shore. The room was great (other than carpet was a little ran down in some places). The Golf Course is 5 minutes away (played both the Pine and Palm courses, with the Palm being the nicer). In summary, I will definitely stay here again."

"Here is my feedback of my family's recent stay which you have my permission to post online. I would give this hotel 2 stars. The rooms are in no way a resort type room. The first room they gave us was filthy - hair on the beds, dirty q-tips on the floor, dirty under the beds, light switches and doors were grimmey. The room was smelled like body odor. It was obvious housekeeping does not take pride in their jobs. Also, front desk person had no personality and was no friendly at all. Did not apologize for the room but did manage to give us a slighly better room. We addressed these issues with the manager who never offered to deduct a percentage off the bill. Will never stay at this resort again. It is very dated. Just to give an idea of what kind of rooms you are going to get when you select a 'Superior Room', they are comparable to a Motel room. The room rate for this resort was $69.00 plus $15.00 resort fee per day and I felt that I paid way to much for this room. Want my money back!!!!!!"

"Resort is fine. Clean and comfortable enough for the price. Pool is nice and the pool side bar would be great if there was ever anyone there staffing it. Had some confusion upon check-in with the reservation and the front desk staff was not all that interested in helping me because I used a 3rd party to make the reservation. The hotel offers a courtesy shuttle to near-by restaurants, bars, and the Salt River Fields for Spring Training which was great. They recommended some fabulous restaurants and bars and the front desk supervisor, was very friendly and accomodating. The rest of the staff, not so much. Overall, not a bad stay, but not a great one either."

"Not what I expected from looking at the pictures. Arrived a few hours early but were told room wouldn't be ready till 4. Was assigned a room looking at the road but after repeated requests was begrudgingly give a room facing the villas. Was told third party bookings are assigned least desireable rooms. Originally requested king bed but got room with two small double beds. Room was small, carpet dirty and stained, bathroom very outdated, only a one cup packet of coffee for two people. Could not find hot tub. WiFi did not work. Some staff friendly others seemed put out that they had to do something. Would recommend others to find another place."

"Being asked to fill in a guest entrance card on arrival should have been my first clue. I travel quite a bit and have not had to do that since the 80s. The staff was friendly and polite. They were the bright spot in the whole weekend. I did not care for the un-renovated room; nor the to cold shower or the mold in the bath not to mention the dated decor. I took three showers while I was there at different times of the day--all cold. I am 5'5' and had to stoop to get under the shower head. The hike to the room was endless. So the rooms were not a great experience. The food was expensive for the quality. I expected a little better quality. The bread was served with 'olive oil'. I mean cutting the olive oil with canola? Huh? It wasn't even green or seasoned. I had to ask for butter for the bread. The chicken in the salad was pre-cooked frozen.. Get the drift? The chilie salsas are fresh and good, but that is about the extent of it. The outside area was landscaped nicely, the golf course view over the lake was lovely with the ducks and geese flying by. I liked being able to enjoy the pretty flowers on the patio area while sipping my overpriced drinks. The spa services are off site, as are all other things advertised except golf and tennis and of course the pool. I call it a 'low class' spa. I think you are getting what you pay for if you get the place cheap. If you have to pay full price you are being well and truly robbed."

"I was very disappointed with this hotel. I don't think the rooms have been updated since the 80's. When getting out of the shower it is very diifficult not to step into the toilet! Can we say cramped space? The carpet was old and dirty. The air conditioning was so loud it would wake me up when it began. To add to this the walls are paper thin. "

"This hotel advertises itself as a 'resort' . . . there is no way this property could even qualify as a decent Motel, much less a Resort! Non-existent customer service. Property is worn-out and run-down. The rooms are shabby. We specifically requested adjoining rooms OR rooms that were in close proximity to each other. When we checked in, long lines and disinterested people waited on us. I realized our rooms were nowhere in the vicinity of each other, I asked about it and was told, 'We are completely booked. There are no other rooms.' I explained we had specifically requested rooms close together and she just stared at me as though I was speaking swahili. When we got to our rooms, the maids were still cleaning all of the rooms in our area -- on both sides of us and the six rooms on the other side of the hallway. I called the front desk and explained that if another party had not yet checked in, that we would wait for one of the rooms closer to ours and gladly give our second room up to another party. Again, she could not have been less helpful, explaining all of the rooms were booked and we could not have one of the other rooms is that they were a different category. We were in an upgraded room and volunteered to take a lesser room category OR pay more. These options did not make any difference to the staff."

"Grounds, restaurant and pool were beautiful. The view of the mountains from our veranda was nice as well. We found the pool a little too cold for a relaxing swim and really would have liked if there was a hot tub. The rooms and halls are in need of updating, especially the carpets and bathrooms. Although they were clean. I was glad I got the room at a really great price because I would have been pretty dissapointed had I paid full price for those rooms. The hotel is in a great location with beautiful surrounding area. I would stay again but only if I got a really great deal."

"An older property in a great location with very nice outdoor public areas including pool, bar/restaurant, and mountain views. Fire bowls and fire pit are lit at night which create a lovely ambiance by the lake. Boating and bicycles available. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Great to have a small refrigerator and coffee service in the room as well. Nice beds towels and bedding. Stay on the lake side of the resort in an upgraded room as there are noise issues on the street side as well as loud ice machines at the end of the halls. "The first night we stayed was good, front desk staff very friendly. The one thing that wasn't good was the tub did not drain well when showering so you were standing in a pool of water. We left the next day and returned for another night. We were not impressed at all. The front desk clerk was rude. We were sitting on our deck and someone who said he was the 'General Manager' was yelling up at us and accusing us of smoking (neither of us smoke) and his poor dog was in the vehicle and it was too hot for him to be left in there. Our meal at the restaurant was good but we had a coupon for 30% off, when our bill arrived we found they had added on 30% for a tip. I don't know if this is normal for all places in Scottsdale, but we found it strange. We will not be returning to the hotel."

"It was my understanding that we had a room with a view of the lake and the mountain. When we checked in we were told in order to get a room with mountain and lake view, we had to upgrade the reservation. We had to pay $20.00 per night, plus tax and resort charges. Needless to say, we were disappointed. The room we finally got was beautiful.' I rate staff efficiency 3 because: I forgot my curling iron in the room. For 4 days I had to call back to find out if they had found it. When they finally located it I gave them my addresss where to send it. A day later they called back, they had lost my address and wanted to have my visa card number for the postage."

"We had a great time -the resort was beatiful and we got a GREAT price so was totally worth it even with the resort fee. I wish we would have had more time to actually use the resort services that were offered but we were pretty busy. I also wish they would have had a hot tub. But the pool area is fabulous. Now this didn't bother me because we got such a great price, but if you are very picky, you'll notice upon arrival that the place is gorgeous -the lobby, bar/lounge, pool and beach area - just beautiful and looks very high-end - but then the rooms look like they started to update them but then didn't finish. Bathroom needed some updating pretty badly. Like I said, not a deal-breaker, but kind of weird! We would definitely stay again for the price! A couple of staff members were awesome - some were not so friendly - a toss up!"

"My wife and I had a 2-night Valentine's getaway at the Millennium Scottsdale Resort. We've never stayed there before. We found things that we liked and didn't like.
What we liked most is the location. There are many good restaurants, malls, movie theaters, etc nearby. The lakeside setting was peaceful. We also found the staff to be helpful and friendly.
The lobby and restaurant looked nice, but the overall feel of the place is a bit dated. Or room was nice, but the bathroom was lacking. The tub is very narrow. It was hard to get away from the shower curtain. The toilet didn't flush very well. We had to 'baby sit' it most of the time. There was a small refrigerator, but no microwave. I also wish there were a safe in the room.
I was most disappointed with their 'fitness center', which consisted of 2 treadmills, 2 exercise bikes and a weight machine. Neither treadmill worked well, if at all, and only 1 of the bikes worked. Also, it was very cold and the temperature couldn't be adjusted. The tv on the wall had only local channels. No cable. No ESPN. I don't know if we'd stay here again unless the fitness center gets improved.
Overall, we liked our stay. The price was fair for the season. We may be back."
