Retro is cool, but if that's all there is, the novelty soon wears off. Thankfully, the Hotel Valley Ho provides more than a trip down memory lane. The staff is friendly, the service is excellent and the location, right near old Scottsdale, is perfect. Our stay started with the desk person telling is our room wasn't ready, but that, rather than have us wait, they'd upgrade us at no charge to one of the executive suite end units with a huge wraparound deck. No sure about the square footage of th... Read more

This is a 60s themed hotel which is really good. Everything is new but done in a 60s style so you feel like you have landed in the past. To add to the feeling they play 60s music in the public areas. The staff are friendly and helpful with nothing being too much trouble. The rooms are large and clean and the shower has to be the cleanest hotel shower I have ever seen. If you are visiting Phoenix this hotel is good value and a really good experience. If the 60s music and theme is not your th... Read more

I don't actually like the desert and don't normally seek out hotels with a Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, but there's something about combining the two, especially in the way that Hotel Valley Ho has, that struck me as both whimsical and luxurious. The entire time I was there I felt like I was living in a very upscale version of a beloved cartoon--Jetson's crossed with Fred Flintstone. Things I especially loved: the fantastically large and clean bathroom, the patio, the landscaping, the Creamsi... Read more

First time at this hotel. I really enjoyed it. Kind of retro-chic. I expect the rat pack to be playing in the lounge. I definitely will go back. Right at the end of main street so you can walk to great restaurants in Old Town.

If you enjoy a well done retro 50s style with a 'happening' pool scene (on weekends), this is your Scottsdale hotel destination. Excellent staff. Rooms are 'neat-o' ( and also love the shampoo, soap, etc.), cool lobby, spiffy spa and gym, and if you want a bit more peace and quiet there's a secondary pool. (Or main pool on weekdays.)

I've stayed here several times on business trips and have hosted a few company events here. Definitely a nice departure from standard business traveler hotels. This hotel has just the right level of energy with a blend of business and vacation guests. It is clearly popular with locals but not overrun. Pros: large sliding glass doors to patios really open up the room and create a resort atmosphere. The staff is professional, the workout room is large and well-equipped, and the grounds ar... its a party hotel. music is so loud on weekends the walls were shaking. they do keep it up nice and staff is very nice. However be prepared to pay for EVERYTHING!!!! the refrigerator is full the stuff for purchase so do not expect to keep anything of yours in there. Not really kids friendly. it is more an adult hotel.

The hotel was easy to find and welcoming. The rooms were like stepping back in time although everything is new. To me it was like Hollywood retro. Loved the brick walls and the orange curtains. The palm trees around the pool were lighted with blue lights...had the look of peacock feathers, very cool. The hotel is currently celebrating their 10th anniversary. We were given 2 drink tickets to enjoy some time in the lounge. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the balcony watching the birds fly around.

Built in the 50's the hotel has been smartly redecorated in 50's retro style. To a guest who remembers first hand what it was like to stay in a newly built hotel like this in the mid 20th century, this place has really kept it together. Retro hotel. We didn't stay there but our friends did. One section of the hotel does not have an elevator. Pool is very nice and there are 2 hot tubs. The room my friends had was nice retro style. I was a bit hesitant on booking a room as a hotel claiming it was mid-century hip. In my experience that means it is a run-down hotel that is still trying to hold on to the glory days of its past. This is so opposite for Valley Ho. It is like a mid-century museum. They have impeccably kept this place in pristine condition. The rooms are clean, well appointed and the property is awesome. Everything about this hotel is inviting and relaxing. The location is perfect. The staff are genuinely friendly (as we have found the people of Phoenix in general), yet very professional. We slept very well. The beds are extremely comfortable. The a/c doesn't click on and off all night. You set the fan speed and that's where it stays. As a light sleeper, this makes all the difference. At the edge of Old Scottsdale is a bit of perfectly renovated mid-century modern. A multi-building complex that has a bit of Rat Pack, a bit of Miami's Fontainebleau, and a whole lot of brightly colored charm, I loved this place from the moment I arrived. While check in was a bit perfunctory, everything after that was a delight. This is our third time staying there and we will return again. Love the mid-century style and atmosphere. The food and service is amazing at all the restaurant facilities. Only knock on it is the main pool during the weekends. It is a party place for young adults with VERY loud music so it isn't the place to take your family. They provide another pool that is nice for relief but no service at that pool for drinks, etc. All and all a great place!!

Valley Ho is a great combination of retro feel with modern updates. The separate lap pool is so great if you actually love to swim as I do, but then you can also enjoy the fun cabana/bar/pool scene at the other pool. The rooftop space is so incredibly beautiful and the accommodations are roomy and gorgeous. Food is excellent. Literally every meal I had there I would order again. Internet was spotty and frustrating, but that was my only complaint.

There's something so nice about arriving at your hotel and feeling like you've stepped into a private paradise...and that's exactly how I felt during my stay. The guest rooms are housed in several different buildings throughout the property so you'll most likely have the opportunity to walk through the beautifully manicured grounds, and past one of the pools, on the way back to your room. It seemed like each of the rooms have private patios/balconies, another way that the property made you feel ... Read more

It's a very nice hotel. Good location. Near the Fashion Square mall and all these nice restaurants and old Scottsdale. We had a walk out king cabana room. It was really nice sitting out there by a lemon tree. In the night we'd go in the hot tub that was steps away.

I am a devotee of the Hotel Valley Ho. It has glamour, class, is close to good shopping/dining and has GREAT breakfast. What is not to like. The design is retro 50s/60s which makes me really happy, and happier still is the happy hour time they have there - good prices and nice environment. This is a details location and I appreciate it. I also always have to visit their store. I don't generally buy anything but love to look. It also is just a piece of Phoenix history, really. Check it out :)

Easy, Comfortable Hotel Stay for an Excellent Value. Located in Old Town Scottsdale, giving access to restaurant, shops, the Zoo, Botanical Gardens, ASU, airport and more. Large comfy rooms w/large privacy bathrooms. Many locals dine and drink/hangout at the lounge. Very comfortable and nice vibe. The staff are very nice, responsive and friendly.

I had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and the decorations and furniture were really cool bright colors. Staying in the suite was nice, the balcony was pretty big, it was so relaxing. I wish it was during the summer, so we could enjoy the pool. There was so much to do in the area and if you didn't want to leave, the hotel is fantastic. I can't wait to stay at Valley Ho again in 2017.

Stayed here recently for a corporate event. Between the accommodation and event services, I would say that the entire hotel staff have EXCELLENT customer service. The rooms and the amenities were exceptional. Will definitely recommend this place to anybody visiting Scottsdale or the Phoenix area. Will review the Zuzu bar in a separate posting.
