Excellent boutique hotel with so many nice features! I recently stayed here for 2 nights for business. The staff is amazing - friendly, helpful and fun! The rooms are very comfortable - bed is most comfortable I've ever slept in including my own. Rooms are well-equipped with mini fridge and Keurig. You can get unlimited free snacks (soda, chips and candy) from the front desk. We had a cocktail event on the rooftop which is a gorgeous space - especially at sunset. We were lucky enough to be there... Read more

We booked this room for one night before our flight out the next day. The staff was awesome! They let us check in early and hang out at the pool inside the courtyard. A charming and inclusive boutique hotel, one is as likely to bump into transgender fashionistas as young families and courting white-haired couples. Like the city that surrounds (but not the county) one finds people from across the globe. The dining room has been through a few chefs but still turns out the best huevos rancheros. The sky deck offers panoramas of Phoenix's night lights ‚?? often with live performances ‚?? and a mosaic-speckled pool opens at 6 am and stays open late. Much of Phoeni... Read more

We arrived on a Saturday and the pool area was totally packed, Lots of day pass swimmers, lots of kids. No pool towels. No one picking up any garbage or dishes. Overall the hotel seemed understaffed and a bit shabby. The staff that we interacted with were all friendly but there weren't enough. Rooms were dark and weird with bad lighting and ikea lamps. Small yucky bathrooms.

Love the lobby, the staff, the pool, the restaurant. Hated the bathrooms, darkness, dirty carpet, loud a/c, old décor, towels and amenities. For the price we paid, expected more from the room. Also the lobby had some questionable people sitting around for a long time - waiting for the spa I guess? The cabanas to rent at the pool are crazy expensive, but be sure to stop by the restaurant, and the voucher gets you almost a free breakfast.

This hotel is a gem amidst the world of Marriots and Hiltons whose generic atmospheres can come across as mundane. This boutique hotel stands alone as a modern, hip fixture in an otherwise suburban area surrounded by apartment buildings and corporate offices. Check in was easy and cordial, I found out later that I got lucky as out of all of the staff she was the most receptive and charming. Most of the other staff seem to busy too care and are often curt, dismissive and snooty. However once you... Read more

We stay here frequently and love the rooftop lounge, the views and the restaurant. I am so happy that they have eliminated the rose scented EVERYTHING as it was a bit much and I was concerned that it would mean that we could no longer stay. But, the trade-off seems to be the loss of the wonderful basket of goodies that guests used to be able to help themselves too. However, the 24 hr stay is still available and we take full advantage of that.

I knew nothing about this hotel until I arrived. My buddy's wife made the reservation for when we took our daughters to Phoenix for soccer. I was shocked as it is great! It is modern like a W but more charming and small. They have jazz on the roof each night so we brought our drinks up there. The food at their restaurant, for which they gave us coupons with the room, was outstanding. The place is just special.

Booked trough bid on priceline as a 4 star hotel. Very modern design but kinda "tacky" my young son called it "guetto". Definitely not what we expected for a 4 star hotel. We would say we would consider it a 5 star 2 star hotel... Our room had living room and bedroom with 2 beds. Beds were really small, clean and comfy but pillows stink!!! Hair on the sink, a lot of dust on tile baseboards... Pool area very dirty, cabanas very dirty and full of dog hair! it was really really gross. Did not see ... Read more

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Clarendon! In the heart of the city, it's the only boutique privately own hotel in downtown and it was worth every penny! Excellent customer service, perfect food, and comfy beds! Poolside is well crafted and the snack bar is fully stocked with complimentary snacks. Can't wait to come back. -Barbara and Lina

Had the best time!!!! Checked in, staff was super friendly. Room was clean, colorful and cold. Thats a great thing in Phoenix this time of year. The atmosphere was great, everyone seemed to be having a great time. Loved the rooftop, pool was amazing. Had dinner in the restaurant, guacamole and shrimp tacos were perfect. There was a jazz band playing. It was cool to go to a place were all you could hear was people enjoying themselves. LOTS OF LAUGHTER AND SMILES

Showed up well before check in. Went in to ask the receptionist if it was ok to leave car parked there while I caught the light rail downtown. She said it was fine, but to my surprise checked to see if my room was available. This was the first of many very pleasant exchanges with the staff. I can't say enough about how nice all of the staff was. The pool area is very nice, the suite we had was very clean. My only complaint would be there was no door separating living room of suite from bedroom. ... Read more

The Clarendon hotel is definitely an original. From the modern mirrored exteriot to the artsy courtyard pool you definitely feel like you are finding a diamond in the rough when you arrive. The hotel has some great extras including breakfast off the menu vouchers at the on sight restaurant and a list of anytime complementary sodas and snacks. The rooms, while spacious, are in need of updated carpeting and paint. The room feels a bit shabby and the pull out couch was not inviting. If they can ele... Read more

I've been staying at the Clarendon regularly for four years now. It is a one of a kind, small hotel with a dazzling pool (and gargantuan hot tub), a friendly diverse group of customers, an excellent staff, and a terrific relaxed atmosphere. I stay here for work and always feel like I grab a little bit of vacation whenever I walk in the door. I stayed for two nights. The room was dusty, including the coffee maker, both night tables, and the clock radio. Room service came in a standard take-out plastic bag with plastic utensils. The air conditioning in the bedroom took two days to finally get cool enough to sleep comfortably. Wasn't able to get wifi in the bedroom, in the "living room" it was touch and go. I complained twice and no changes. Did get a refund of $20.00. For the price and the additional fees it was not a four-star ... Read more

We decided to stay at the Clarendon due to the reasonable price, good reviews, and proximity to downtown. Our evening event was cancelled so we were disappointed. After an uplifting pub crawl we returned to hotel. The bed was so comfortable. The room was charming with plenty of amenities. I went to use the pool which, although gorgeous, was very crowded and smaller than I imagined. It was also only open until 10 pm, so no midnight swimming. I am currently spending time in this hotel as a local while home repairs are being done to my house. The hotel is great....kind of quirky, eclectic, very pleasing environment from the delighfully scented lobby to the pool to the attached bar and restaurant. The staff has been friendly and welcoming. Funky, kitschy, hip, urban, fun. This is the Clarendon. My wife used to come here to swim. PHX residents could obtain a day pass to use the pool if they didn't have one. This is smart. Gets people to the hotel and spreads the word. Eventually, folks from out of town will suggest a hotel and lo and behold...more business. Like I said, smart. Anyway a few years later she moves to San Diego and we meet. Getting to know and fall in love with her. We share stories of our pasts. She frequently men... Read more

Spent one night for a quick getaway. I have always loved the Clarendon for their pool, bar/restaurant and friendly staff. $20 'resort fee' is a darn good deal when you consider it comes with breakfast vouchers and parking. Parking in downtown can be challenging and very expensive. The breakfast vouchers alone are worth more than the resort fee when traveling with two or more. Clean, modern, quirky rooms. Comfy beds. Kuerig coffee, toiletries, bath robes, good wi-fi, and even a fridge. Solid wall... Read more

I've been going to the Clarendon for years (for the pool and restaurant). I've always loved the look of it- when you enter the sidewalk glitters and there is a huge Phoenix sign behind a water fountain. I've eaten here when it was a different restaurant, and now Cafe Tranquilo. Staying here was a whole new experience that ended up being a great staycation. The rooms are very clean and cold (a must for AZ). Their furniture is comfortable and modern and they pay a lot of attention to detail. ... Read more

From the moment I walked in, it appeared to be a busy time and the hotel understaffed .... yes, the hotel is funky and unique and in a good location with a good pool. This hotel was a disappointment. It was not a spa, rather, it offered massages on request. The pool was dirty--cloudy with suntan lotion--and crowded. The room was just about windowless and did not overlook the pool (maybe a blessing in disguise) even though that was the room requested and the rate paid for. The place is basically a 60's motel in need of at least another coat of paint and an update to the bathrooms. Nothing looked or felt particularly clean, especially the towels: they were just...
