The staff were very welcoming, both at reception and in the dining area. Rooms are large with very comfortable beds. Bathrooms have large walkin showers and great lighting. The pool area is lots of fun for all family members.

We arrived in the afternoon in late May and found a gem of a place. The staff are friendly cannot do too much. The lobby was spacious clean and welcoming. Our bags were taken to our room and the room was a nice slice clean and had a cowboy feel about it. The have a nice pool for a very welcome swim a hot tub also. restaurant and bar. Food was good and plenty of it. We loved the grounds with a marvellous walk through a well tended cactus trial with its own stream and pond cowboy wagon yard and BB... Read more

Stayed here one night but was disappointed. Situated in the middle of nowhere about 40 minutes outside of Phoenix means you have to eat at the hotel or face a long drive! The swimming pool area looked so inviting and the local views stunning but the rooms and restaurant lets it down. Breakfast - as part of a group we were directed to a separate part of the restaurant, told your breakfast is over there as a buffet, no table covers or cutlery on the table, had to ask for orange juice and tea/coff... My family has stayed at the Carefree Resort a few times now and LOVED every stay. Beautiful scenery, amazing sunsets, in a nice remote location but not too remote, and we all enjoyed the heck out of the pool. The rooms are quite large, beds are very comfortable and the staff at the resort and restaurant are friendly and very quick to help. Would highly recommend.

The hotel rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel has many saguaro cacti around the property that all had beautiful flowers blooming when we were there. But what stands out to me about this hotel is the food. We had breakfast there (ordered off the menu, not the buffet) and the food was delicious ?? some of the best food of our whole trip traveling through Arizona. Definitely have breakfast at the hotel and order off the menu.

The property was in various stages of disrepair. One wing had parts of the building falling off (facing rear parking lot) and the rest was clean but old and in need of updates. The casitas spread around the outside of the resort were literally falling apart with no signs of an attempt to repair. Some were used for storage but I do not think any were used for guests. This jewel of a property needs some investment badly. I will say the rooms are nice size and all have a great view of the mo... Read more

This was a spectacular find. We were on a road trip and planned to spend one night here. Enjoyed the staff, the food, the town, and the incredibly surroundings so much that we extended the stay for several days and plan to return again soon. Next time we will bring the whole family!

We decided to branch out a bit from our normal locations in Scottsdale and North Phoenix, to try something different, and the Carefree Resort and Conference Center was put on the list. Knowing that it's location was just minutes away from the fun, food, and Cowboy action of Cave Creek, we thought this would be a good location to relax, have fun, and enjoy time in the pool. The property appears to be in good shape overall, the two room suite that we had was spacious, with two porches to sit and w... Read more

Nice conference and stay at Carefree Resort -- a special place in Carefree. Quiet, sort of old school, with very friendly staff and personal service. If you don't have to have all the upscale amenities, you will enjoy this resort. It is such an ideal size place to stay -- small in comparison, pretty Carefree location and a great summer special. But you get really nice staff who want to make your stay special -- enjoy the getaway without driving very far.

Large rooms with two double beds and usual facilities including a microwave and toiletries. Staff friendly and helpful. Situated a way out so need to use transfers to get into town unless you have a car. Beautiful pool area but you need to rent the cabanas areas! Good restaurant and room service but beware of hidden costs like survive added on. Very peaceful place with great views.

Stayed overnight at the Carefree resort. The staff here were friendly and welcoming when we arrived. Our room was comfortable, clean, and we had our own balcony. The restaurant and bar were very reasonably priced, and the food was great! We enjoyed walking around the resort as it's beautifully landscaped. The lobby, restaurant, and pool areas looked very well kept. Lovely remote and peaceful location. Would have liked to stay for longer.

This updated 70's resort is tidy, clean, safe, kid friendly and just relaxing. Nice pool, hot tub, (both with chairs for disabled), firepit, lounge chairs, cabanas. Professional and friendly staff. Gardens are well tended, lobby and restaurant are sparkling clean. I have stayed here three times and look forward to my next visit to Carefree.

We wanted to find a local staycation for a relaxing end of the summer. A great off season price for a local resort. The room was comfortable and the restaurant was also very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Second time staying there this year. Overall room was very comfortable, nice to have a private patio, grounds well kept and pool inviting. Outdoor dining and food was excellent. My only complaint was I didn't have a coffee maker.

I attended a conference there for about 150 people. There are 2 separate parts to the hotel. The normal hotel-like part as well as some "villas." I stayed in a villa the first night, which is across a little road (more like a golf-card road) from the main part of the hotel. It was a nice room--one big bed, a sliding glass door, big TV & a nice walk-in shower (no tub). The room over-looked the golf course and was near the hotel gym and tennis court. They also have their own pool on that side.... Read more

Welcoming lobby with roaring fire even though the temperature was over 100 degrees outside! Happy hour at the bar was on as we arrived so had a couple of excellent Margaritas. The room we were given was huge but really badly lit and rather sparsely furnished. We were very disappointed that our balcony over looked the car park as this hotel has stunning grounds and a fabulous pool area. Had a swim in the pool and used the Jacuzzi, also walked around the grounds admiring the cacti. Ate at the bar ... Read more

Very comfortable, quiet, clean and safe hotel, located in very picturesque setting. Room size is large and nicely furnished. Had a room by the pool with a king size bed on the ground level. Food at the hotel is excellent and the hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. Especially remember waiter named Lucas and manager Jennifer, both are very friendly, informative and helpful.

Rooms were very nice. Not an easy close distance. If u have walking restrictions be sure to get a room close to entrance and parking. Pool nice hot tub nice dining room excellent. Bar service in afternoon was excruciatingly slow and ignored us when they had three workers and we were pretty much the only people in there! Front desk fast and helpful!! Nice fire pit to sit around at night but u have to be the one to ask for them to light it

This hotel was selected as the original hotel for a wedding we were attending in desert mountain. We were pleased by how friendly the front desk staff was but utterly dismayed by the decrepit condition of the first room we were assigned. The second room was only slightly better, we appreciate the "upgraded" room so we did not have to look at the parking lot. Truthfully, it was a major disappointment to stay there. Manage your expectations for a stay here. Our stay was 2 nights and we were out of... Read more

We had a room on the first floor facing away from the pool. We had views of trees and landscaped condos from our balcony. We were at the hotel to attend a wedding. Our room was discounted as the wedding family reserved a block of rooms for us here. It was an ideal location to get to all of the wedding venues and to get in to Scottsdale and Phoenix to see the sights. The public areas were clean, beautifully landscaped and inviting. the rooms were a little tired bit comfortable and just what we ne... Read more

I can't quite give it a 4 but a 3 seems a little harsh, too. My sister-in-law and I shared a room and attended a conference. We were on the conference room side of the resort, which was very convenient and our room was huge with two king sized beds. Nice bathroom with one sink inside the bathroom and another in a vanity outside the vanity. Nice refrigerator. I would recommend a little bit better lighting - maybe two lamps on the bedside table instead of one and bigger light bulbs. You can ... Read more

Spent one night for a private resort function. Booked a Carefree King room that is described as just across the street from the main resort. Location was fine. Had it's own parking, (dirt lot) and close to tennis courts if that is something that's important to you. Walk to main resort was short as described. Room is a unique layout with a floating wall that on one side has the king bed and the other side tons of built in shelves and drawers for storage. The bed side of the room had a desk and ch... This is a lovely place to enjoy peace and quiet. On check in staff were very accommodating by changing our room to poolside. We did not have a fridge in the new room, but within minutes of asking a fridge was brought to our room. The grounds are extremely well maintained and the landscaping is a nice mix. Breakfast over looking the pool and garden was not only scenic, but the portions were large and the food was good. I would highly recommend this hotel for many reasons.

This was the first of ten hotels at which I stayed during my recent coach tour of Arizona, Nevada and California. Our group were allocated rooms in various locations of this resort complex, mine being within a separate annex beyond the hotel reception entrance. Surrounded by cactus, the setting is what I imagined the Arizona region would be like. We as a group only stayed here for one night after having arrived at Phoenix airport from the UK, via Washington DC.. However I was impressed wit... Read more

Attended conference. The room was large, updated and clean. The heater did not work, I was tired and didn't want to contact front desk and wait. I grabbed the blankets and tried to cuddle into them. It got so cold I felt like I was in a sleeping bag camping. The night was miserable. The next morning our conference room was freezing. Speaking to other attendees I discovered their heaters had not worked and when they called for help, the maintenance man had come and set the heaters on (I gu... Read more
