We have stayed here three times, since we often stay overnight and then want to he'd East without fighting the traffic. A little hard to find -- it's behind a Regions Bank in an office park just north of SR 119 -- but we've found good value here for those who want to be on 280 East. Good beds, updated rooms, free hot breakfast, and a safe parking lot. No complaints!

I usually enjoy staying at Wingates but this property was a major let down. Staff was nice and courteous but once I boarded the elevator the signs of either a neglected or run-down property were pretty much everywhere. To successfully ruin the experience the a/c couldn't cool the room off even in early spring when it was 77 degrees outside.

Our stay has been very pleasant. The hotel is nice with a very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel's location is very convenient to restaurants, gas stations and interstate 459. It is worth joining the hotel's reward program but I did this on my own after seeing information about the program in the lobby. No one at the front desk ever told me about the program but were helpful once I asked about it.

This hotel has really gone down over the last couple of years. The floors in my room were stained and dirty. For some reason I had a handicap room this year. I didn't request one. I don't see how a handicapped person could have showered with the broken shower wand. It was even hard for me to use. The shower wand would not stay stationary and keep falling in the tub. There were signs that some form of non-slip had been use in the tub previously, but it is no longer there. The tub was very... Read more

The first room we were put in smelled like urine, then I seem that it was because someone had relieved themselves on the wall near the door. So we were given anther room, the room was disappointing also. The bathroom fixtures were broken and the air conditioner sounded like it was going to take off at any minute. The staff was very friendly and helped us the best they could, but the stay was not as nice as I would have hoped. Renovations need to happen!!

We stayed here on vacation. It is an older property but is also in the process of renovation. The room was large with two king size beds. The beds were comfortable and the AC worked like a dream. It was reasonably clean but needed a deep cleaning with stains in the carpet and mildew in the bathroom. The staff was very nice. They do need better signage out front as it is not easy to find the right driveway to the hotel from the main road. It is convenient from the highway and there are a ton of g... Read more

The hotel was the low price offering in Birmingham, AL through TripAdvisor. We were going to stay in Atlanta while heading west from Myrtle Beach, SC to Austin, TX, but the room and city taxes were about $35 a night! So we drove a little further and saved ourselves about $30.00 in Birmingham!

I booked this room off of experience from a different location. My wife was having surgery at UAB Hospital and I chose Wyndham because of a past experience and of course their name carries weight. This location in my opinion wasn't even close to what I expected. I was hoping for upscale and elegance but received outdated and dingy. I love Wyndham/Wingate don't get me wrong but I hope they update this location soon because it will ruin their name sooner or later.

I chose this site for a conference because of the price range, however I quickly learned you get what you pay for. The carpet in the room is outdated and in need of cleaning from an apparent refrigerator malfunction. The entire room needed to be dusted and cleaned thoroughly. There were crumbs and who knows what found in the drawers and crevices. The hotel personnel were really nice, but the room itself could use some upgrading and better cleaning staff.

Carpet...afraid to walk barefoot. Bathroom...mold around entire tub. Shower....no water pressure and loud noises coming from shower. When I checked in to the room late there was a loud soccer game on the tv, which made me wonder if someone was in the room initially. Made a reservation for a room with 2 king size beds, which I thought was unusual, but was looking forward to the trip. When we arrived we were told there were no rooms with 2 kings beds available, but could be given a room with 2 double beds. The check-in person was most helpful & put in a helpless situation. Finally after much discussion We were given a room with a king bed & roll away; the air conditioning didn't work. We were moved to another room. The room needed updating & had much wear.

I've stayed at this hotel several times before. All were good. This time it was ok for the money. The hotel's 3rd floor was undergoing a renovation. So the hallway was slightly dusty and smelly. Lights were out in the elevator waiting area. The breakfast tasted like it had been reheated again and again. Room was neat. A/c was acceptable. There was an outlet not functioning in the room. I got caught in gridlock traffic the next morning and called to say I'd be late getting back to check out and the desk clerk was understanding an... Read more

Hotel was under construction it they did everything humanly possible to make it clean and eat . Hotel employees were constantly making us feel welcome and apologizing for the work. We will go back again because I felt at HOME!

Front desk staff was very friendly and nice. They're in the middle of renovating so there was some mess, smell, and noise that couldn't be helped. We just stopped for the night on our way to the beach and were truly only here for a few hours. The breakfast was fine. Nothing to write home about but enough to satisfy you if you were hungry. The waffle machine was not working. The room itself was average. The bed was comfortable but there was some "old dirt" in the corners in the bathroom.

Large comfortable room. They were in the middle of a remodel, which was expected, so it will be nice to see what it looks like when they are done.

There was a lot of construction dust. The bathtub faucet didn't stop running when we switched it to shower so the tub kept filling up with water. The carpet was dirty. The breakfast was just okay. The fruit was very old. Not a great stay

Don't come ! Wait until they have fully done the renovations , I've no doubt it will be nice then. But at the moment it's a building site. You have to plug in your own lights, Fridge and maybe just maybe you will have a closet that you can keep your clothes in.I tried 2 different rooms and nope still no where to put your clothes. The breakfast room - forget it. You may get 12 people in it. So wait till it's done and you should probably then stay at the Hampton about 3 miles away which is much be... Read more

As usual, I chose Wingate for my trip to Birmingham. It is currently under renovation and because the floor was "wet" I was asked to walk completely around the facility (dark) to enter the back door. My room was quite nice - updated and most comfortable. The next evening my travels demanded that I remain in Birmingham. I returned to the same Wingate which turned out to be a mistake. When I requested an updated room, the clerk was borderline rude in her response of " I'm not sure there are a... Read more

Was not informed hotel was under renovation. Workout center closed entire trip. Was on tight schedule so missed breakfast 3 of 4 days because they were late. Kept rerouting us to get to elevators but there were no signs, no one ever at the desk, and construction workers who didn't speak English. Construction crew and storage used half the parking spaces. Housekeeping was mediocre.

The location was awesome! Close to food & shopping. Front Desk attendant was quite pleasant. Breakfast was ok. Would've preferred more protein options. I'd requested a renovated room and a note was made on my reservation but when we arrived and entered the room, it was a dated room. Because my little princesses were ready for naps and a snack, we didn't press the issue. Glad we brought the nebulizer. Overall great stay and will stay again...once renovated.

The room was great, with plenty of space and a nice change from the usual hotel furniture. Breakfast left something to be desired, but the hotel is being renovated, so they're operating with a slight handicap.

The hotel was undergoing a renovation. As a result, there were some inconveniences. The gym was not available. Our room was only partially redone---there was no shelf or hanging bar in the closet. There was no coffee maker in the room. There was dust everywhere. The breakfast room was in a temporary space and was very crowded. Three of the four mornings, we did not receive the wake up calls we had requested. The last day, when we arrived in our room at about 6:00 pm, our room had not bee... Read more

I travel quite a bit and like most places I stay in, although I use AirBNB-like services more so than hotels. but this is the worst experience I have had that I can ever remember. The first issue is that the property was under renovation and should be closed . The parking lot was full of construction trailers, the lobby was blocked by yellow tape, tile was being replaced and so floors were uneven, and construction dust was in the air (I noticed workers in the same area as guests wearing dust mas... When I got to the hotel we found it was under repair. When I booked the room there was no mention of the remodel. When we got there the manager discounted our room rate which was very nice and since there was a race in Tallegeda that weekend and Alabama had a home game we did not want to move to another hotel if we could even find one. So all in all it as a nice room as they did give us a newly remolded room, but it reeked with the new paint smell.

The hotel room was filthy spots of puke on the floor in the bedroom, the bath room and roaches running around the bathroom. Contruction dust from the rehab project all over, plus lighting fixuters not completly fix to the walls. Breakfast was okay, they ran out of bacon and sausage. Not a good place for anyone to stay at.

The service was fine. The hotel is obviously going through a renovation and they had adequate signage indicating the renovation was ongoing; however, the room we stayed was very dirty. I understand thing being outdated but the cleanliness was such that the room should not have been available for guests to stay.

Very disappointed in management. Stayed there weekend after labor day weekend. Booked a room for the 1st floor, they could only give us a room on the 3rd floor. Got to our room and there was a leak above the toilet, water all over the floor in the bathroom. Requested another room, this one was much better. My son and I were on a road trip, and I had gone through hotel.com and reserved this hotel. We arrived in the middle of the night, to find the whole hotel is being renovated. Not a huge deal, and I know for the long run, hopefully this hotel will be running at a much higher standard than now. I wish that would be mentioned when booking the hotel so I knew what I was walking into. We drove from Michigan, down to Texas, over to Louisiana, and back up to Michigan, so comfort was a must for us with ... Read more
