We have stayed here three times, since we often stay overnight and then want to he'd East without fighting the traffic. A little hard to find -- it's behind a Regions Bank in an office park just north of SR 119 -- but we've found good value here for those who want to be on 280 East. Good beds, updated rooms, free hot breakfast, and a safe parking lot. No complaints!

I usually enjoy staying at Wingates but this property was a major let down. Staff was nice and courteous but once I boarded the elevator the signs of either a neglected or run-down property were pretty much everywhere. To successfully ruin the experience the a/c couldn't cool the room off even in early spring when it was 77 degrees outside.

Our stay has been very pleasant. The hotel is nice with a very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel's location is very convenient to restaurants, gas stations and interstate 459. It is worth joining the hotel's reward program but I did this on my own after seeing information about the program in the lobby. No one at the front desk ever told me about the program but were helpful once I asked about it.

This hotel has really gone down over the last couple of years. The floors in my room were stained and dirty. For some reason I had a handicap room this year. I didn't request one. I don't see how a handicapped person could have showered with the broken shower wand. It was even hard for me to use. The shower wand would not stay stationary and keep falling in the tub. There were signs that some form of non-slip had been use in the tub previously, but it is no longer there. The tub was very... Read more

The first room we were put in smelled like urine, then I seem that it was because someone had relieved themselves on the wall near the door. So we were given anther room, the room was disappointing also. The bathroom fixtures were broken and the air conditioner sounded like it was going to take off at any minute. The staff was very friendly and helped us the best they could, but the stay was not as nice as I would have hoped. Renovations need to happen!!

Nice look outside but room inside was outdated. Beds were OK, bathroom needed attention. Peeling paint, shower curtain falling down. Had to plug in cable box and room lights.

We stayed here on vacation. It is an older property but is also in the process of renovation. The room was large with two king size beds. The beds were comfortable and the AC worked like a dream. It was reasonably clean but needed a deep cleaning with stains in the carpet and mildew in the bathroom. The staff was very nice. They do need better signage out front as it is not easy to find the right driveway to the hotel from the main road. It is convenient from the highway and there are a ton of g... Read more

The hotel was the low price offering in Birmingham, AL through TripAdvisor. We were going to stay in Atlanta while heading west from Myrtle Beach, SC to Austin, TX, but the room and city taxes were about $35 a night! So we drove a little further and saved ourselves about $30.00 in Birmingham!

I booked this room off of experience from a different location. My wife was having surgery at UAB Hospital and I chose Wyndham because of a past experience and of course their name carries weight. This location in my opinion wasn't even close to what I expected. I was hoping for upscale and elegance but received outdated and dingy. I love Wyndham/Wingate don't get me wrong but I hope they update this location soon because it will ruin their name sooner or later.

Stopped here while traveling to Florida. Check-in was a breeze, room and bed were comfortable, although the hall way smelled like cigarette smoke but our room was fine. Typical breakfast for this category of motel, but served hot and tasty. Easy access from the highway. We would stay at Wingate hotels again.

I chose this site for a conference because of the price range, however I quickly learned you get what you pay for. The carpet in the room is outdated and in need of cleaning from an apparent refrigerator malfunction. The entire room needed to be dusted and cleaned thoroughly. There were crumbs and who knows what found in the drawers and crevices. The hotel personnel were really nice, but the room itself could use some upgrading and better cleaning staff.

We chose this hotel based on price, as we were driving through Birmingham on the way to Florida. It was a decent hotel- nothing spectacular. Hotel needs updating. The carpet and chair in our room were stained. When we first arrived, the room we were given smelled strongly of cleaning chemicals. The manager quickly provided us with another room. The beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. Wifi was free. The rooms need updating - this definitely looks like an older hotel. Pool is a decent si... Read more

This is an excellent hotel with great lighting in the room and bathroom, a very large room, friendly staff who gladly stored my blue ice in their freezer, microwave, fridge, coffee maker. The bathroom has a long wall to wall cabinet with room for all of my things and hubby's too. The water pressure in the bathroom is better than mine at home! There is a desk and chair with ottoman. The breakfast is very good. We will definitely stay there again, especially at the senior rate of $76.96 which ... Read more

We arrived late as we were traveling from Louisville, KY to Birmingham. The front-desk lady was simply amazing! That's good because the mess we met upon entering the room was unbelievable. Someone had pooped and peed in the toilet either flushing. The smell permeated the space. I had not used the restroom since Nashville, so it was a must upon opening the room. Checked in late Wednesday night. Took forever at the front desk. Finally got our keys and went up to our room. Terrible odor as we exited the elevator. Room was so disgusting. Carpet...afraid to walk barefoot. Bathroom...mold around entire tub. Shower....no water pressure and loud noises coming from shower. We had to stay as we were there for a family emergency and it was too late to find another hotel. Never ever should this hotel rent rooms in the condition they are in.!!!

When I checked in to the room late there was a loud soccer game on the tv, which made me wonder if someone was in the room initially. A few of the lamp shades were broken and tilted and the shower had black mold in it. I checked out if the hotel a day early. Bed was ok and staff was nice but it is just a much older hotel with not a lot of updates, especially to the bathrooms.

Made a reservation for a room with 2 king size beds, which I thought was unusual, but was looking forward to the trip. When we arrived we were told there were no rooms with 2 kings beds available, but could be given a room with 2 double beds. The check-in person was most helpful & put in a helpless situation. Finally after much discussion We were given a room with a king bed & roll away; the air conditioning didn't work. We were moved to another room. The room needed updating & had much wear.

This hotel is listed as 2.5 stars. I would compare it to a Hampton Inn. This property, was newly renovated. Everything from the lobby to the room was fresh, clean and crisp. The complementary water in the lobby had oranges one day and lemons another day which was an excellent touch. The pool and exercise facilities were very nice for a hotel in this category. The price was outstanding. The hotel is down 280 from Birmingham so if you are working downtown, I would not recommend the commute.... Read more

We stay at this Wingate each time we come to visit family in Birmingham. We have never had a problem, but I was a little disappointed this time with our room. Having ran my own cleaning service for 17 years, I am very particular with cleanliness especially in a bathroom. Also, when I got out of the shower I noticed the side of the toilet had ... Read more

The lobby and hallways looked nice, but the carpet in the rooms needed stain treatment. The AC unit was left turned off, so we came in to an 80+ degree room in July! The water pressure to the toilet was awful. It took at least 20 minutes to fill, which is a major deal when you have 2 adults and 2 kids in a room.

I made reservations here based on previous experience with the Wyndham name. We stayed in two different rooms over three nights this visit. The first room was horrible. I think the most enjoyable part of our stay was the breakfast it was a full breakfast eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, muffins, danishes, waffles, and more. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful stay.
