It was ok, but the upon check-in I was given a room on the first floor next to the pool. Walked in and the room smelled like mildew. I asked for a different room and was given one on the third floor and the same thing. The room stank like mildew. Figuring that all the rooms smelled this way, I just kept it. Other than the smell, it was pretty clean. I was also concerned for my health as it couldn't be good for my lungs to be breathing in this mildew and mold spores. Ordering food was an i... Read more

I have stayed at Hyatt place hotels all over the country. This hotel has that familiar smell that is at all Hyatt Place locations and that breeds a feeling of familiarity. The lobby is typical of this brand and is of course luxurious, well appointed and has a great layout. The breakfast was really nice and included scrambled eggs and sausage which was really nice. The room seemed a bit smaller than I am used to and there were only two drawers for the wife and I to share. The room felt smaller ... Read more

Otherwise beds were horrible and lumpy, building needs renovation. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Breakfast buffet had a good variety and was good but tables were quite dirty. Coffee was good. Unfortunately, one has expectations from their hotel...sleep being first and foremost. Both bed and pullout couch bed were awful.

So I went for a business meeting, and my wife and daughter joined me for some fun poking around Birmingham--many things to do there. Hotel staff is awesome. We called down for extra pillows and blankets and received them with no problems, which is unfortunately kinda rare with hotels these days. If you're a celiac, don't count on getting much to eat the next morning. Food is splayed out with easy contamination range for pretty much everything. Coffee is available, and it's pretty good. I am Diamond - and i was interested to get a note in my room saying it's the "new" Hyatt Place. Maybe it's renovated but it was old style - carpet, bad paint, rusted gym equipment. It wasn't a bad hotel -just not up to Hyatt Place standards. It is well located by the mall. The Internet is fine - and breakfast ok. Parking is limited unless you go to the back.

I see some reviews about a water issue. This is an act of God so how could you fault the hotel for something like that? I was there when the pipe burst and the staff bent over backward to help us and even get us other accommodations if we wanted. Some of the people in my group wanted this hotel to pay for two free days somewhere else! That is the trashiest thing I've seen in a long time. I'm ashamed of my group for having no class. We booked this on hotwire and were pretty impressed. It can be a little hit and miss with booking this way. The best thing about the hotel are the rooms. Huge clean bed with lovely linens and lots of pillows, a fab corner sofa for relaxing and a huge tv which swings around so you can watch it from any angle. I was disappointed that the pool was out of use. They don't open till 1st of June. The only reason we booked it was because it had a pool otherwise we'd have paid less and stayed elsewhere. ... We have stayed in a few Hyatt Places, but this was our worst experience. Lobby, community space, and free breakfast were all decent -- same as other Hyatt Place hotels -- but the room was gross. It was extremely wet/humid in our room, and the air conditioner didn't help (possible made it worse). It was so wet that the floor felt damp so we felt too disgusted to take off our shoes. This hotel location unfortunately outdates, old and in bad condition. Either the fact the staff were very friendly and wanted make anything they can do to make customer happy. The condition of hotel is bad. I love the hotel location though, and swimming pool was decent. But the beds and carpet so bad, that smells (old).. Also food serve was old, like the bagels and canned fruit.

The staff was friendly, made my check in easy and even let me borrow a charger for my phone. The room layout was great and the bed was comfortable and clean. Had free breakfast each morning and offered a good variety of food. Will definitely stay here again, was perfect for business travel.

I stay here whenever I come to Hoover to visit my family. It's right across from the Galleria mall and on the main road to everything. The hotel has maintained its appearance and the service is great. Very friendly staff. I highly recommend it.

This Hotel is not the same caliber of other Hyatt Place. Rooms are in need of renovation and upgrade. The carpet needs cleaning and some repairs are needed. The staff was nice and courteous but the room was not up to par. We were just so tired from the day and our stay was short so we just endured the pain.

I was amazed by the quality and condition of the hotel for the price/location/date of my stay. They accommodated my late arrival and I found everything to my satisfaction. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Super clean!
