Hotel was great. We had issues with non- fuctioning hot tub, and LOUD A/C unit. Breakfast was great, hot and plentiful. We used the business center, and were pleased with the space and speed of Internet connection. Management assured us of repairs for our return trip in June.

I love this location! The employees are always friendly and it is very clean! Convenient to restaurants and shopping. They also have Zoo packages; how awesome is that! I always stay here when I come into town for business!

We stopped here in the middle of the night on the way from TX to NC last week. The manager, Jonathon, worked with us to get us checked in late. The hot tub and pool were perfect for our stiffness from the drive. Now, here we are, on the way back to TX and decided to stop again since we were treated so well the first time.

We had 5 people in our group and didn't want to rent 2 rooms. Luckily this hotel has a 2 queen room with a pullout couch. My son said it wasn't very comfortable but what pullout is. It was nice and clean everyone was very nice and the breakfast was good as well.

We stayed here for three nights while attending a golf tournament. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. Housekeeping did a very nice job of freshening our room each day. Breakfast was standard fair for HIE. It was hot and replenished as needed. We stayed in room 522 and experienced a constant noise. It was louder in the bathroom and sounded almost like "Chewbacca!" Since it did not keep us awake, we did not asked to be moved. We spoke to someone who was staying on the second floor... Read more

This hotel is amazing! The breakfast was always hot and there was plenty to choose from. Every staff person I interacted with was extremely friendly. They answered all my questions and gave me good advice on local restaurants. Anything I asked for was provided. I highly recommend this hotel when you visit Birmingham.

We visited for a family reunion/birthday party. Upon check-in we requested to be on the same floor as some cousins. We were told they didn't have 2 doubles available on that floor but had a king with a pull out. My husband stays in a lot of king with a pull out HIE's while traveling so we said okay to this. We literally dropped our bags in the room and left to go to a family members house. When we came back to go to bed we noticed the pullout was twin size. We were not told this when we said ok... Stayed here for long weekend while visiting family for nephew's grad open house. Room was on top floor, and as soon as we exited elevator on our floor, we we were greeted by warm, stuffy, stale air. When we entered our room, the air conditioning unit was already on at coolest temp, but room was warm and humid. We settled our things and headed out to family gathering, letting front desk know of our room/floor temp situation. I understand it's summer in the south, top floor, etc, it is what it is,... Our Church traveled from Texas through Alabama to Georgia on a summer vacation. The trip was educational as we visited some Civil Rights sites and fun as we visited Six Flags over Georgia. Our stay at this Holiday Inn Express was incredible!! The GM was extremely accommodating to our group of 55 and even helped with breakfast service the next morning! I highly recommend this hotel for ALL of your Birmingham visits!

The staff were mostly polite. The young lady in the breakfast room was outstanding- very hospitable. We had requested two (2) queen beds when booking as there were 3 of us but was assigned a king bed instead. Requested a pull out sofa and when we checked, it had not been made up. We called down and advised them of this - were told we have to make it up ourselves.I have never experienced such - and I have traveled all over the world !

My husband had a business trip scheduled so I took the baby with me for a little family trip. We stayed here in July 2016. The location was wonderful. Oh my. It is located by a huge mall (2 miles away), many restaurants, target, and Walgreens. We were 12 minutes from the zoo. The hotel has an indoor pool! The staff was very nice. The only reason I give the hotel a 4 is because of the decor. Very outdated. We stayed on floor 5 and oh boy the carpet is dated. Makes me cringe a little... Haha. Oth... Read more

I had high expectations for the motel, based on its description on various sites, but it turned out only to be average. For one thing, a motel that accepts dogs--though at a hefty $35 fee--should provide a dog-walking area with bags and a trash recepticle. It did not. Also, on Sunday morning there was trash that hadn't been cleaned in the corridors and entrance, and there were crushed cigarette butts in the elevator. On the other hand, the rooms were fine, though a lilttle crammed and musty... Read more

While driving cross country, we decided to get a room here last minute. It was around 12am and it was one of the only hotels that could accommodate the 5 of us (2 adults/3 kids). The room had two queen beds and a pullout bed. Let's just say the pullout bed mattress was a mess. You can literally see the springs inside the mattress all around. Looked like a prison mattress. Anyway, it was too late to try and swap rooms at this time so we dealt with it. We put multiple blankets and sheets and made... Read more

Needed a place to stay prior to visiting the zoo. Called reservations and was directed to this hotel. Room was ready and chilled when we arrived. Pool was clean. Staff very nice. Breakfast cook was very nice and made sure we had what we needed. All items were full even when the buffet was closing down. I'd stay here again.

For the price, this was worth the stay. It was clean and in a safe and convenient area. Check in was a breeze. Plenty of parking that is well lit. Nice breakfast included. Indoor pool. My only complaint is that our room seemed to not cool very well. The humidity inside was also abnormally high.

I got upgraded to a 2 queen suite for a weekend visit. Very nice and close to the summit and good eating places. Staying on the fifth floor was nice. Except the sun rise came in through the window. Oh well only a minor inconvenience. It would be nice to have power outlets on the lamp between the beds like I have seen in other hotels.

I initially stopped here because of the previous reviews however it was disgusting. I have stayed in a SUPER 8 that was nicer than this. The room was dirty my sons socks were black, I got in the shower and seen dirt coming off my feet as well. The floor literally had a hump in it and was completely uneven in our room. It smelled musty. The room had some cracks in it and overall the hotel was just very outdated. I have stayed at many holiday inn express and am always impressed. However this ... Read more

I was on business and had booked my stay at Holiday Inn Express. I would have never found the hotel if it wasn't for my Apple map. It is located on a very busy street and 100's of businesses. It sits a little inside (off the road). The check in process was extremely pleasant, I was a little early, but they accommodated me. Initially, the room that was offered, was nice and large (I believe it was a Suite), but when I entered the room, it was extremely warm in the room. Initially, I thought... Read more

As you'd expect. Staff are superb and make the difference in what is otherwise a chain hotel. Rooms are good size, clean and well serviced. Breakfast is OK, fair choice but for me, far too much sweet stuff, but that personal. Location is convenient but finding it needs some attention, as I missed it the first time as it stands back from the road and cant be seen, the sign was also easily missed. Would use again

We've been to many HI's around the US and throughout the world. This is one of the least impressive we've seen. Dated and worn decor, threadbare sheets, springs coming through the mattress...badly in need of complete renovation. The only reason it got 2 stars is for the friendly staff and convenient location. Would NOT choose to stay here again.

When I got to the hotel I chose to do my booking through the front desk . Tara was the one who helped get me in and in a great 2 bed w/ sitting area room . She was so very helpful and had a great personality that myself and best friend where able to talk to and share some things with during our breakfast , and let me just say, breakfast was LEGIT BOTH days. Eggs , pancakes , country ham , sausage , gravy , biscuits , fruit . and multiple other items . IT WAS SO GOOD . It was also nice 2 go duri... Read more

I've stayed in many HIs and had great experience, so during my recent trip to Birmingham I booked a one night stay at their Inverness location. It was highly disappointing and I won't be back. The room was just gross. It has a bad smell, frozen over freezer in mini fridge, mildew in shower, wallpaper coming off walls, linens were dirty and the bench in room was disgusting with stains. The front desk worker was efficient but lacked the warmth in used to from HI employees. The bed was hard and un... Read more

This property could use some TLC, however the staff did try their best to offer a great stay while away from home on business. That was greatly appreciated! I was also able to make good use of the local areas terrain to go running along the hills, beautiful neighborhoods nearby to go running
