My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this particular hotel. It is close enough to a variety of food and entertainment options. The hotel is about 10 minutes away from the Summit for great shopping and dining. You are also close enough to downtown to make any trip convenient. The location gives privacy and quietness.

Very clean, and comfortable in a very nice area. Would not consider staying at any other hotel in the area; this is a gem. The area is quiet and there is a shopping center just down the road if you want to shop or dine. The hotel is in the Mountain Brook section of the city and is an affluent area. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

The room was dirty. Sheets were stained and there was "stuff" on the ceiling. From the exit off 459 and the road to the hotel was dark because there weren't any street lights. Lighting in parking lot was poor too.

From the time we checked in all we heard was I'm sorry. Check-in was not welcoming by the asst mgr normally we are given bottles of water. I asked about breakfast coupon with military rate and was told I wasn't entitled because I got government rate instead and I was only a silver member. That was first I'm sorry! 1 breakfast comp would have gone a long way because after that we chose to have our meals else where. Room door was hard to open and backwards second I'm sorry. This HGI is one of the better HGI i have stayed in. I have stayed at this hotel many times before moving to a hotel in downtown Birmingham. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. There seems to be a staff turnover at times, but the place is a solid hotel I would recommend if not seeking a hotel downtown Birmingham. There are few restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. The service was excellent -- staff was welcoming and helpful. The value was enhanced by using Priceline deal. An added bonus was the pool and hot tub. Trouble at check-in, completely understaffed at breakfast on all three days of our stay, part of our block of rooms were "moved" to the same hotel (not even sure how this can happen?!?), room was only serviced on one of three days, had to go get everything we asked the front desk for....... Just poorly managed. Most of the team were frantic and were as kind as they could be, but management needs retraining.
