While this hotel is centrally located in downtown Birmingham and near UAB it is a very dark and dingy hotel. This hotel needs serious upgrades. It was hard to get internet service. I did not feel safe as parking garage was easy access to hotel and the doors were not kept locked after hours. Staff was not very welcoming

It was nice there was free parking and you can park in the garage on the same level as your room which makes loading and unloading easy. Although higher price, Doubletree does not offer much in the way of luxury from good pillows to a free breakfast. They are clean, and I do feel safe.

This is a decent , well run hotel quite near the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Te only complaint that we had was that the toilet seat was dangerously loose and although it was quickly repaired once I made the complaint, this is something which should already have been taken care of. Very adequate breakfast buffet.

Here for business on numerous occasions. Overall this hotel is Average. The hotel staff are good, elevator is fast, and the rooms are nicely laid out. Unfortunately over the several times I've been here, I've had small issues that led to this review. Most recently, I was taking a shower and the drain was so clogged up that by the end of the shower, I was ankle deep in water. Additionally, the drain in my sink was also slow to drain. We were in town two days for a jazz festival. The hotel was convenient to the festival venue, clean, and attractive. The room was a bit cramped for a wide wheelchair, although it was billed wheelchair accessible. The room service pizza was not very good and tasted a bit like cardboard -- not exactly as advertised on the menu.

Decent accommodation. I would not plan a route of travel to avail myself of this particular property. Average in most respects at best. High points do exist; certain aspects reflect poorly. Lowering the global impression of the property. Access from the major road traveled was trying.

Recently I spent one night at the Double Tree Hotel in Birmingham on a very high speed business trip. While the rooms are decent and the check in staff are very nice -- the restaurant is the pits. The food and service in the bar and restaurant is one of the worse I have ever experienced. The Doubletree Inn in Birmingham is within a half-mile of the University of Alabama Hospital, plus they offer a "medical rate" which is a substantial savings for this convenience. Even the 'free' cookies they boast about weren't warmed up like the guy told me they would be. The place needs to be completely gutted and renovated. Great location between business at UAB Hospital and great restaurants in Five Points and Uptown. Very friendly staff that was exceedingly helpful throughout the process. Definitely would stay here again.

Bad smell, poor maintenance, cleanliness level of cheap motel. Traces of previous guests were present and very obvious. Don't think the room was cleaned in between guests but tidy up a bit. Found trash, hairs, nails, etc. can't believe this is part of Hilton group

Meh. Just meh. Dated product, just okay housekeeping. Barely over the bar... worn tub, beat-up bathroom, shabby carpet throughout. Nice bed and bedding though. They seem to have put all their efforts in the lobby. Good front job! Would not stay again.

Location couldn't be better!! Easy walking to UAB. But you won't get a complimentary breakfast here! Beds are very comfortable! I was on a higher floor, so street noise didn't interrupt my quiet time.

This was a return stay here, four months later. A fantastic experience this time. Last time our AC unit was a window unit and very loud. This time we were on the 14th floor and had a wonderful room with a balcony view, and more importantly a central AC system that was whisper quiet. The room was fresh and clean, and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The staff were very helpful.

The hotel is old. It may have been another company in another life. Neither the room nor the other parts of the hotel were clean, new or commendable. Breakfast in the restaurant was composed of a very limited selection and the items available were such that you wondered how many days old they were.

I cannot accurately describe how horrible this place was. During my stay I broke out in a rash all over my body from something in the sheets. When I complained they gave me another room which had no bed. I was given a 3rd room which was a downgrade and given no discount. The General Manager did not reach out to me I had to call numerous times for her to hear my about my situation. In the end they offered me a few Hilton points for my troubles. I've been a loyal Hilton Diamond member for 11... Read more

Check in was a breeze using the Hilton app. The digital made it possible to completely bypass the front desk. This was very much appreciated after a long bday of traveling. The accommodations are on par with other Hilton properties. Location is very close to UAB where we were doing business.

This hotel is all about location and the friendly staff. Within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Hotel also offers complimentary shuttle service. Typical DoubleTree amenities and rooms are clean. Would recommend for short stays.

Checking in was good, wasn't sure if membership points we're registered. My room was clean but a little worn and smelled of smoke. I was there for only hours, but overall the stay was good and I experienced no problems.

Nice facility and helpful staff. Airline personnel get preferenctial treatment due to a contract. Creates problems and delays for paying guests. This needs to be corrected. Shuttle service is a second thought. With it's proximity to UAB hospital needs to be valued service offered.

Overall a good experience. Rooms very comfortable, quiet, and clean. Breakfast buffet big disappointment for the price. Fastest elevators this side of the Mississippi! Good location near many downtown attractions and dining venues. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I like the emailed invoice statement. Would like to see a larger lounge / bar area for this size of hotel.
