I was at this resort with my wife last week. Although the weather was not cooperating we had a gret time. We was pleasantly suprised at the room and the service. We will return in the future. As I have family there.

Had the opportunity to spend eleven days here. While it is represented as a resort spa, it does not merit it's stars. The hotel could use a facelift. Although it's rooms, at least the one I stayed in was roomy and clean ,again one of there best rooms, it may have been a little costly for the service. One day the power was out for hours. I was trying to cook breakfast since the buffet breakfast was almost 50 dollars a couple plus gratuity, I woke up early after tossing and turning all night in th... Read more

Came here for lunch, we checked to see how many Marriott points we needed for 3 nights, decided to leave our other place & moved over. Best decision we made this trip. Staff is very attentive, the grounds are beautiful, the room very nice with amenities that make the stay comfortable, citronella candle for the screened patio, umbrella, bug repellant, dishes, et al. I would definitely recommend this place.

I kept hearing from the locals that this is the nicest hotel on the island. Each room is like a mini suite with a small kitchenette. The in-house restaurants are quite expensive, even for breakfast. There is a gift shop with some snacks and stuff without a ridiculous markup, but it can get pricey fast. The pool is a bit small for a hotel of that size but the beach is nice. The shelving here has some coral so be careful. Poolside service is good but no glassware. If wait staff is busy, you... Read more

Without hesitation I can state this is one of the top resorts on the island. However, there are very few resorts on the island that deserve any consideration. This property is secluded, about 20 minutes from the main highway down a winding road through the jungle and down to the coast. Normally, that might be appealing, but this is not a resort that you can spend day after day at without leaving. The lobby is downright terrible and not at all inviting; I have seen better at roadside motels. T... Read more

If you are looking for a quiet getaway on the beach away from the noise and general craziness of a lot of Caribbean resorts, this is the place. When we first checked the listing and location, we weren't quite sure about what we'd experience, but it ended up being a wonderful discovery. Stayed here for four nights in February, and simply enjoyed the quiet beauty and solitude of this place. You can sun on the beach, or in the shade of the trees or a covered setting. My husband and I stayed at Ren Carambola on our honeymoon in February. This was the perfect retreat for us- the rooms were very private, the beach was secluded and just for hotel guests, and there were activities aplenty. We hiked to the tidal pools, went into Christiansted one day, but mostly just laid on the beach and by the pool. To those wanting a relaxing spot to enjoy a special time after your wedding- I couldn't recommend this place more.

The pictures really don't do this place justice. It is located in the most gorgeous and remote setting. I read other reviews about how the resort is "run down" but I didn't see that at all. Everything was clean and my room had a kitchenette with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. That what everyone on House Hunters wants. The staff was all very friendly. I have Sprint and it doesn't have cell service at the resort (which wasn't a bad thing since it's a vacation ) but I would ha... Read more

The hotel grounds were lovely and I was surprised at every turn by something beautiful. I would recommend getting a rental car as there isn't a lot of food options at the hotel. One thing for improvement would be the service at the restaurant- it was very slow. Only ate breakfast at the hotel on the last day because of the cost. It was fantastic! I had the banana rum pancakes. Worth every cent!

We picked this resort for our honeymoon vacation & we are very pleased with the grounds & the beach. The views are stunning and it is very quiet with only the sounds of the ocean on the rocks. The rooms are wonderful, especially the screened porches with sitting area. We spent lots of time looking out and listening to the ocean. The pol and beach areas are great too. Maybe we stayed in a different section of this property but we were not happy. We selected this property because it's a Marriott. Well, hopefully, not much longer. The suite was dark. We could only operate one appliance at a time or the circuit breaker would trip. Daily room attendant was a "crap shoot." Carambola is a very nice resort. Secluded and serene. 24/7 Fitness center and swimming pool, spa, gift shop, restaurant and bar. Free WiFi, courteous and professional staff. The rooms have kitchen w/dishwasher. Offers taxi service to/from airport (at cost) full fair for one, split if more than one. Direct hiking trail to tidal pools, approx 1 mile each way. Restaurant/bar are somewhat pricey. Enjoy!!

Very nice resort. You have to remember that anything located on the beach will have its little issues, but nothing is a resort, so if you want to eat anywhere other than the resort, you will need a vehicle. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Quiet & serene--very relaxing.

This hotel is high end and very nice. We went for my wife's 60th and to dive the wall. The dive shop was phenomenal and the hotel was acceptable for our purposes. We only ate in the restaurant once the rest of the time we either did room service or ate on the island. They got my order from room service wrong but corrected in a relatively timely fashion. Beautiful sandy beach setting and warm (82 degrees ) ocean in tropical setting make this a wonderful place to relax and chill. Large warm outdoor pool and large attractive rooms with bug-protected lanais and mini kitchens are added attractions and the resort is spacious and low rise with pretty, well-kept grounds and it never felt crowded or noisy. We had booked a room with an ocean view and we did not get one, I had made arrangements for a late check in for my family with welcome drinks and we did not get the nice welcome arrival at all in fact the staff acted as if we w... The resort has great service throughout. JoAnn at the restaurant goes over and beyond. She is amazing. I am allergic to gluten and she made sure every time it was right. The rokms are nice, clean and the resort is well maintained. We like how private it is. We rented a jeep to go visit, no far to go anywhere and you have amazing views too. We will definitely be back. The food is great here too!!!

The resort was very nice and the room was clean. It's not a typical hotel as there are like 30 buildings each with 4 rooms. My building was 1/4 a mile from the main building and parking lot and since I was there for work that was quite a distance in dress clothes/shoes. It's a long drive on some narrow, curvy, hilly roads to get here from the airport, so drive carefully (and on the left) if you have a rental car. The beach was pretty, but the waves were really powerful and there is some time... Read more

I am a long time Marriott patron (platinum member for years), in fact I plan vacations around where Marriott has accommodations. I have never really been disappointed in a Marriott hotel until now. The Renaissance St. Croix Carambola was a huge disappointment. The grounds were poorly maintained and the layout is very poorly designed as I stayed in one of their top of the line beachfront beach access ground floor units and had to walk 300 plus yards to do anything (accept go to the beach) because... This is an excellent property with exquisite details and an excellent place to rest. This trip was for business, with a team of 8 all of them agreed that was the perfect place to stay, they got a great rest, great food and on Friday the got an excellent buffet with a cultural show that is a must see. The only thing is that they doesn't offer breakfast before 7am and the convenience store hours are 8-8.

I stayed at a cottage while honeymooning on the island and our adventures took us to almost each hotel on the island (not many big ones). This one had to be my favorite. The food was overpriced and drinks weren't that great. The overall ambiance made up for what the food lacked and if I were to ever go back to St. Croix I'd definitely stay here. The beach looked rough the day we were there but the pool was nice and there were relaxing spots all around to sit and take in the views.

We have stayed at another resort on St. Croix which was beautiful, but the Renaissance Carambola exceeded our expectations. We found the beachfront suite very large and beautiful. The tile and dark wood was gorgeous. The suite was very clean and cozy with adequate AC. The screened in porch offered the most amazing view of the ocean, which we could see from the bed, listening to the surf while we slept. We swam in the pool which was huge! We played the giant-sized chess set and Jenga at p... Read more

I stayed 10 nights at the resort to decompress and get away from the city. It was very relaxing. The rooms were very spacious and amenities were great. My room (no. 16) had an excellent view of the ocean as well as ocean sounds. The beach was quiet, clean and the water was the right temperature for swimming. The staff was excellent and very attentive. I had my WIFI cut off a few times and they were resolved very promptly and freebies given for the inconvenience. Stefania at the front desk was a... We had a wonderful stay! Some of the buildings are located about a five minute walk from the office and parking area, so this needs to be taken into consideration if walking bothers you. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and we enjoyed our walks to the beach, the office/restaurant area, or the parking lot. There are so many different trees and flowers to see and many of them are labeled so you know what you are looking at. Our room was large and had everything we needed except fo... Read more
