I was at this resort with my wife last week. Although the weather was not cooperating we had a gret time. We was pleasantly suprised at the room and the service. We will return in the future. As I have family there.

Had the opportunity to spend eleven days here. While it is represented as a resort spa, it does not merit it's stars. The hotel could use a facelift. Although it's rooms, at least the one I stayed in was roomy and clean ,again one of there best rooms, it may have been a little costly for the service. One day the power was out for hours. I was trying to cook breakfast since the buffet breakfast was almost 50 dollars a couple plus gratuity, I woke up early after tossing and turning all night in th... Read more

Came here for lunch, we checked to see how many Marriott points we needed for 3 nights, decided to leave our other place & moved over. Best decision we made this trip. Staff is very attentive, the grounds are beautiful, the room very nice with amenities that make the stay comfortable, citronella candle for the screened patio, umbrella, bug repellant, dishes, et al. I would definitely recommend this place.

I kept hearing from the locals that this is the nicest hotel on the island. Each room is like a mini suite with a small kitchenette. The in-house restaurants are quite expensive, even for breakfast. There is a gift shop with some snacks and stuff without a ridiculous markup, but it can get pricey fast. The pool is a bit small for a hotel of that size but the beach is nice. The shelving here has some coral so be careful. Poolside service is good but no glassware. If wait staff is busy, you... Read more

Without hesitation I can state this is one of the top resorts on the island. However, there are very few resorts on the island that deserve any consideration. This property is secluded, about 20 minutes from the main highway down a winding road through the jungle and down to the coast. Normally, that might be appealing, but this is not a resort that you can spend day after day at without leaving. The lobby is downright terrible and not at all inviting; I have seen better at roadside motels. T... Read more

If you are looking for a quiet getaway on the beach away from the noise and general craziness of a lot of Caribbean resorts, this is the place. When we first checked the listing and location, we weren't quite sure about what we'd experience, but it ended up being a wonderful discovery. Stayed here for four nights in February, and simply enjoyed the quiet beauty and solitude of this place. You can sun on the beach, or in the shade of the trees or a covered setting. The location is surround... Read more

My husband and I stayed at Ren Carambola on our honeymoon in February. This was the perfect retreat for us- the rooms were very private, the beach was secluded and just for hotel guests, and there were activities aplenty. We hiked to the tidal pools, went into Christiansted one day, but mostly just laid on the beach and by the pool. To those wanting a relaxing spot to enjoy a special time after your wedding- I couldn't recommend this place more.

The pictures really don't do this place justice. It is located in the most gorgeous and remote setting. I read other reviews about how the resort is "run down" but I didn't see that at all. Everything was clean and my room had a kitchenette with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. That what everyone on House Hunters wants. The staff was all very friendly. I have Sprint and it doesn't have cell service at the resort (which wasn't a bad thing since it's a vacation ) but I would ha... Read more

The rooms were gorgeous with dark wood ceilings and personal outdoor lofts to lay in and listen to the waves. Open concept hotel with two restaurants, a pool, fitness center and spa, diving shack, and comfy lounging places along the beach. All the workers are so sweet and pleasant and they made it a very enjoyable stay for us! The beaches were beautiful and never very full which was so nice. It's easy to relax in the peace and quiet or go out into the ocean and boogie board or snorkel! The only ... Read more

The hotel grounds were lovely and I was surprised at every turn by something beautiful. I would recommend getting a rental car as there isn't a lot of food options at the hotel. One thing for improvement would be the service at the restaurant- it was very slow. Only ate breakfast at the hotel on the last day because of the cost. It was fantastic! I had the banana rum pancakes. Worth every cent!

We picked this resort for our honeymoon vacation & we are very pleased with the grounds & the beach. The views are stunning and it is very quiet with only the sounds of the ocean on the rocks. The rooms are wonderful, especially the screened porches with sitting area. We spent lots of time looking out and listening to the ocean. The pol and beach areas are great too. The staff is friendly and courteous, especially the on-site dive shop. Mark and his family run it & have a great staff. We would d... Read more

Maybe we stayed in a different section of this property but we were not happy. We selected this property because it's a Marriott. Well, hopefully, not much longer. The suite was dark. We could only operate one appliance at a time or the circuit breaker would trip. Daily room attendant was a "crap shoot." Sometimes we would get a fresh set of towels while others just the bath towels. The toilet paper was not replaced. Our one encounter with the restaurant was our last. The Sunday breakfast buffet... This is one place I will return to. The entire staff from check-in, the bar, the house cleaners were super friendly and attentive to your every need. The rooms were very spacious with a connecting screened balcony for each room. The restraunts were very good on property. They had taxis available within minutes for wherever you wanted to go.

Carambola is a very nice resort. Secluded and serene. 24/7 Fitness center and swimming pool, spa, gift shop, restaurant and bar. Free WiFi, courteous and professional staff. The rooms have kitchen w/dishwasher. Offers taxi service to/from airport (at cost) full fair for one, split if more than one. Direct hiking trail to tidal pools, approx 1 mile each way. Restaurant/bar are somewhat pricey. Enjoy!!

Very nice resort. You have to remember that anything located on the beach will have its little issues, but nothing major.it is a resort, so if you want to eat anywhere other than the resort, you will need a vehicle. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Quiet & serene--very relaxing.

I would like to thank the staff at the Renaissance Hotel for making our trip so memorable. Kaiser at the front desk for such wonderful service, she made my wife and I feel so pleasant. I was able to have a conversation with Jacklyn who is a very lovely lady. Special thanks and congratulations to Keba on his 4 year anniversary Monday the 6/27/16 he has a great personality and went out of his way to make sure any request I had was taken care of. This hotel is high end and very nice. We went for my wife's 60th and to dive the wall. The dive shop was phenomenal and the hotel was acceptable for our purposes. We only ate in the restaurant once the rest of the time we either did room service or ate on the island. They got my order from room service wrong but corrected in a relatively timely fashion. The room service was slow.

Beautiful sandy beach setting and warm (82 degrees ) ocean in tropical setting make this a wonderful place to relax and chill. Large warm outdoor pool and large attractive rooms with bug-protected lanais and mini kitchens are added attractions and the resort is spacious and low rise with pretty, well-kept grounds and it never felt crowded or noisy. The Carambola is a wonderful place to really get away from it all - probably the most perfect beach I've ever experienced - however it may be too is... Read more

Exceptional guest services provided during our stay. Staff went out of their way to provide what we needed for the children in our family, deal with an exceptionally loud wedding party next to us, and resolve late arrival issues due to weather. The grounds were beautiful, well maintained, and security was walking the grounds and checking that doors were locked. I would leave our door ajar as we had two rooms for the kids and adults to come and go and several times, security would knock to make s... Read more

We were nervous about booking this hotel after the wide range of reviews here on TA. We loved it though. It's far out and bit more secluded. We went in the off season and the beach was almost empty most days. The staff were all very friendly to us. The beds were comfy and the rooms were nicely stocked (with surprising things like mosquito repellent!). We liked having a little kitchenette in our room so we could make our own cocktails and get stuff from the local grocery store for breakfast and l... Read more

We had a fabulous trip to this resort for our Honeymoon in early May. Perhaps due to the time of year, but it was not crowded at all - there were times we had the beach to ourselves, which was quite romantic. However, I can tell that the beach was equipped to host more people, so again, maybe we were just lucky. Our room was clean and building was quiet, and we had a lovely ocean view, though we did not book an ocean view room (thank you, Renaissance, if you upgraded us!) We did not have a compl... Read more

Visited Carambola and enjoyed the resort and beach so much that we returned on our last day again. The beach is truly georgeous. Yes, it is remote but that's what makes it special & it is a scenic drive. We'll stay here next trip. Be sure to meet Myra at beach shack, super nice and has the absolute best recipe for a pina colada with black strap rum that we found anywhere.

I came here for my 30th birthday, and it was the perfect place to relax! The rooms are seriously amazing (bigger than my apartment). I loved the screened in porch, which I used nightly for happy hour. The bathroom is huge and updated. Besides loving the room, the beach was perfect! It felt like you were truly in paradise. I went after spring break, so it was very quiet and there were times that we were the only ones on the beach. The water was so clear and the scenery was picture perfect.... Read more

First I must confess - I love a good Marriott. This one did not disappoint. Let's get the big negative out of the way - it is remote. You are about a 30 minute cab ride (congratulations to those brave enough to rent a car on the island) to the main attractions. The good news is wherever you stay at this hotel you are just steps from a beautiful and fairly quiet beach. The hotel staff is awesome and super helpful. The bar menu is great. I can't recommend the restaurant on site though. Great view ... Read more
