Perfect way to celebrate Our 30th wedding anniversary. I knew the hospitality was going to be fabulous when our flight was delayed and we were not going to arrive until the middle of the night. The manager texted me to see if I wanted to order food for our late arrival while we were waiting for our flight. The car was waiting for us at the airport and the manager met us with a welcome drink and took us to our oceanfront deluxe suite where a bottle of champagne was chilling for us. Beautiful ... We originally were supposed to go to Mexico, but at the last minute found The Buccaneer on St. Croix, and boy are we glad we did! Everything about this hotel was great. The staff is so helpful and happy, the room was upgraded to a beachfront and the view was spectacular. We overlooked the grotto pool and beach and had the pool and beach to ourselves almost the entire week. The food was great and we never tired of the menu and had the opportunity to eat everywhere. The Buccaneer is nice enough, clean and mostly comfortable. I was in a room at the back of the hotel that was quiet but got invaded by 30+ bees so was moved to a room close to the front. This room was larger but the air conditioning only had one speed and couldn't quite keep up with the amount of space so it only kept the room moderately cool. On days that housekeeping serviced the room they would leave the door open, allowing all the a/c to escape. I stopped letting them clean the room daily, ... Read more

We got married in 2011 at The Buccaneer and stayed at one of their rooms titled Doubloons. It was right on Mermaid beach with a stunning view from our balcony. We returned for our 5 year anniversary and got upgraded...TO THE VERY SAME ROOM! We were so pleased. Everything about this resort is top-notch! The staff are so pleasant to be around. Went for a eight night vacation. The first & only night it rained extremely hard. Caused the ceiling to leak at 2am, but it leaked dead center of the floor area so the staff who responded immediately laid out towels to soak it all up and to avoid slipping problems & asked if we could tolerate the room that night and they'd move us first thing after we awoke. That was great because we had just spent 12 hours in airports prior to arrival & were tired and being from Seattle, a little rain didn't... Read more

The Buccaneer is one of the few nicer. resorts on St Croix. The views are stunning almost anywhere on the resort grounds. It has a spa, a golf course, 3 restaurants, a gift shop to name a few things. Occasionally you see iguanas run around. You can spend the whole day there and want for nothing else. The breakfast buffet is amazing, such a great variety! And you're served by the friendliest staff. There is an old man that comes to bus your table, he is always smiling and almost dancing when he ... Read more

The staff at the Buccaneer was stellar. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay a wonderful experience - from the concierge who recommended first-rate outfitters for our day trips to the resort staff who led complimentary hikes and kayak tours. The ocean-front rooms have stunning views and are an easy walk from the beaches. The beaches were uncrowded and the kayaks, snorkel gear, and stand up paddle boards they supplied, provided hours of fun. I highly recommend the Buccaneer.

Because of the problem they have with crime in St Croix it is really not safe to leave your rental car parked and locked at most of the beaches around the island. Hence we went to the Buccaneer (which is not where we were staying) and paid the $10 per person for beach and resort access. They have great beaches and great snorkeling and we were able to take long walks on the beach swim and party with no concern that our car would be broken into.

In these days of massive resort complexes with all the expected amenities and services, it is pleasant to find a facility that has an understated elegance of by gone years. The Buccaneer does just that in spite of some rough edges and furnishings that could stand to be upgraded. The service at the front desk and concierge was top notch. Beautiful well kept hotel. Spacious, so even when many guests feels private. We had a gorgeous view of The Grotto beach and peaceful pool. Staff is top notch. Friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Terry Ann and Terry at the bar. Your kindness, knowledge of the island and perfect service made for a special vacation. Foo at the restaurant was excellent. Free breakfast at the Terrace was delicious, especially the local fruit. The spa could use updating, but price and service was good. Just ... Read more

I went to St. Croix with two other friends and we loved it. The views were gorgeous and the beaches fun. It is a very quiet resort even though there were kids present. We highly recommend staying here if you visit St. Croix. It is about a 5 minute drive to Christiansted, they have a big and delicious breakfast buffet. Our only wishes were to have more live music at the beach such as a steel drum band and having more options on the menu for dinner. Although every single person who worked there... Read more

Beautiful resort. Staff always helpful and friendly. Never really have to leave there's so much to do on the property. Food was a little pricey. A lot of entertainment for everyone. Great trip. We stayed by the grotto and it was perfect for us. Loved it hope to visit again.

We LOVED our stay at The Buccaneer! Mermaid Beach with it's lovely beach bar and restaurant was just a perfect place to enjoy your vacation. The Grotto pool and beach was wonderful too. The property is 340 acres, and with our short trip, we barely scratched the surface of all that the resort has to offer. We were very impressed with our room, the nice air conditioning, the large nicely accommodated bathroom, and other extra touches like filled pitchers of ice water at the end of the day. Th... By far, the best place we've stayed in the Caribbean (out of 4 islands and 6 resorts), and we have been telling everyone to go there since we got back to the mainland. Every one of the staff is totally friendly and accommodating. Everyone says hello to you with a smile. (Yes, I realize they are paid employees, but other places the staff could care less to speak to you.) Our oceanfront deluxe room didn't have the best view of similar rooms, but we could see and hear the ocean, and it was great. T... Read more

I can't even begin to describe how amazing the Buccaneer was for our honeymoon. As soon as we got to the hotel, they told us they had upgraded us to the Dubloons. We were right on the beach, which was amazing!!!! The staff was extremely friendly, our favorite was Richie, our taxi driver for the Fort to Fort Tour. Food service was slow, but being on the beach completely made up for that. We can't wait to return!!!!

As we arrived at the hotel, we realized that we made the right decision. Friendly staff and amazing service all the way around. Breakfast was amazing, but we didn't realize until the last day that you can special order from the kitchen (order the banana pancakes). There are two beaches with activities including snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding and floats. It is also a kids paradise with lots of activities and places for them to explore crabs and lizards. The hotel room was really nic... Read more

This was our first trip to St. Croix and The Buccaneer was a GREAT choice. The oceanfront suites are wonderful and huge. Fresh ice water is refilled all the time in the room, there's a nightly turn down service, bug spray is provided (although we never really had an issue), coffee maker in room, etc. The food at The Terrace is 5 star, fabulous and fresh. It is pricey, but it truly is amazing. The dinner at The Mermaid was a bit of a step down in service quality but the food was once again v... Read more

The last time I stayed at the Buccaneer was in 1999, and when I knew I was going back to St Croix, I made sure I was able to stay here again. Besides me being older and having more gray hair, the Buccaneer hadn't changed at all. The professionalism of the staff, the phenomenal food, the relaxing atmosphere, it all was fantastic, as I expected. The most important thing to remember when choosing to stay here is their availability during their peak season goes fast. Plan as much ahead as you ca... Read more

Stayed at the Buccaneer for five nights while in St. Croix on business. Had a room in the main building that had a spacious balcony overlooking the sea and a part of the golf course...what sunsets! Food and service were excellent in the main building, less so down at the beachfront restaurant. The lounge is a popular hangout and the bartender (Lauren?) was very welcoming. The golf course is not the toughest, but is extremely enjoyable with many interesting holes, some with lovely sea views. Just... Read more

The Buccaneer is top notch on all counts. 5 star dining, beautiful beaches, exceptional customer service, and very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. If you visit make sure to stop by the main bar and say "hi" to TerryAnn. She is possibly the best bartender ever and very warm and friendly. We stayed at the Buc for 8 nights in high season and prices were still quite reasonable. Many choices to eat and drink onsite, all delicious. We returned just a few weeks ago and decided to stay off site a... Read more

My wife and I were long overdue for a getaway. I booked this trip through Costco Travel. Once at The Buccaneer, things started off excellently and only got better. When we arrived we found that they had upgraded us to possibly one of the best rooms on the property. That simply set the tone for the rest of the trip. All of the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make our trip a delightful experience. Food on property was excellent. We ate at The Terrace the first nig... Read more

I've been here 4 times and each one gets better. 2002-2010. Food is icreduibel, beaches are quaint and varied, the snorkeling is spectacular right offthe beach (all three!) . There's 18 holes of golf, lounging, spa, shopping and lots of history. The Armstrong family has owned it for years and arre very involved. The Bachelor TV series came here a couple years ago - its that good. A bit pricey, but not if you really take advantage of some of thier ofdf-season deals.

The views on St. CROIX are spectacular. Especially here at this beautiful resort. Everything was amazing. The activities were great. However, the food and service was pretty bad. Food always took a long time, no matter if we were at the beach or in their "fine dining" restaurant. I was super stoked to try some of their awesome wines, however they changed their wine list some while ago and never updated it. So now all they have are grocery store wines. I heard the chef used to own a restaurant on... Read more

This place is situated directly on the beach with beautiful views of the ocean. The people who work here are always polite with "good mornings" and "good afternoons". The rooms are very well furnished (i stayed in a suite on the ocean) and quite spacious. There is an 18 hole golf course directly on the property, so it was an absolute dream for the person I was with as he is an an avid golfer. The property sits on beautiful hilly lush greens with tons of beautiful vegetation. The only thing i... Read more
