We spent the second half of our honeymoon and have had very mixed emotions about this place. (Spent first 5 nights on St. John). The staff except for the person at the Adventure Desk could not be nicer. Each and every wait staff and bartenders were top notch. Everyone was so friendly and genuinely seemed to care about us and went out of their way to make us feel special. A special shout out to Marion in the dining room and Chris and Phil the bartenders and the breakfast staff at... Read more

The resort is not at all well maintained. We stayed at the Morning Star Beach, the room, as we walked at a terrible musty smell, the shower liner needed to be changed and the shower tile needed a couple of gallons of bleach to get rid of the mold. I sprayed Lysol everywhere, including the bed sheets. We were on our way back to our room from dinner, I could smell garbage. As we walked around you could see tiles missing from the stairs, some doors broken, in the Azzur Terrace the table tops h... Read more

I did the night kayaking with my girlfriend on 5/12/2016, doing the late night 9:30 pm tour with Sam + Paul, and we couldn't have asked for a better time. There were only a few couples there, but we saw two sea turtles, learned a lot of history about Saint Thomas, and heard a handful of classic pirate jokes. I would absolutely recommend doing the night kayak at the Marriot Frenchman's Reef!

I am a Marriott Platinum member and always try to stay at Marriott's. This hotel treated me well with an upgrade to a very nice ocean view room from my reserved island view room and I greatly appreciated it. The service at this hotel is excellent! Everyone from the front desk clerks, bartenders and housekeeping staff are very friendly and aim to please. The room itself was fine for me. I don't know if this was one of the updated rooms. The hallways were noisy because their was a wedding and I assumed the guest we're celebrating a little too much! I hope when I return I get better customers service

My husband and I just returned from six nights at this resort. As platinum marriott rewards members, we got a Harbor View Suite - which was a very musty smelling suite overlooking a carport, with the harbor just beyond. The staff kindly downgraded us to an oceanfront room overlooking the pool on the 8 th floor. Spectacular room and view! The staff was very accommodating in navigating this change. Yes a snake in our room first night. After the second night they switched our room to higher location. A bit scary to say the least. Had to keep suitcases packed and above ground a couple of days. We loved the staff and were treated great. Second room had a large spider that found its way into my wife's bag. Someone also was trying to get in our room while we were in it also. Probably got confused. Loved the people there.

We were fortunate to be able to return to Frenchman's Reef and once again, we had a fantastic time. Our compliments, once again, Mr. Carrillo for all his advance work in setting up our reservation. We received fantastic treatment from the time we arrived and the bellman, Louis greeted us, welcomed us and took our luggage, until Louis assisted us when departing. The front desk crew was fantastic, we were always greeted with smiles and greetings. Good times at the Sunset grill. Emelyne really took... Read more

Stayed for a week in late June. Beautiful property. Very clean pools. The one you can walk to at Morning Star has very few guests and is lovely. Several restaurants to choose from-all expensive as is the norm at any resort of this type. Waitress service at any of the restaurants was painfully slow, but this is "island time" after all. Need to give a shout out to Deirde, the most attentive, efficient and altogether lovely poolside waitress. Hope she gets a raise for all her hard work. Room servic... Read more

We spent two weeks in St. Thomas. The first week, we stayed at Frenchman's Reef and the second at Frenchman's Cove (the Vacation Club part-share). The resort is excellent, with great restaurants to choose from (Coco Joe's is a great beach bar/restaurant) and Morningstar Beach, a quiet, clean beach you can watch the cruise ships from. The rooms were nice, but we had our kids with us so the second week at the Cove with more room was better for us. However, I would recommend both.

This was our families first trip to the St. Thomas. Every person we met there was extremely kind and went over and beyond to make sure we were having an excellent time. From the taxi drivers, to the hotel staff everyone was so nice. The hotel was very nice and the grounds are incredible. If you are staying in the main hotel you can take the sidewalk down to the beach however it is steep and has stairs so you may opt for taking a short shuttle ride down to the other hotel. Hotel staff was very friendly. Requested ocean view which was beautiful. Balcony was great and roomy. 4-5 places to eat on the property. Food was expensive in my opinion. Take a day to go to St. John and visit the BVIs. Money was worth the trips. Boats we travelled in was great! You will need to take boat taxi or regular taxi to get to town or anywhere else. I stayed 4 nights at the Frenchman's Reef and it was nice but not as nice as 5 star. When I think of 5 star the first thing that comes to mind is cleanliness and in some ways that was lacking. The hallways were very dingy looking as well as the carpet throughout and the elevators. The views are beautiful, the staff is helpful and flexible, the drinks were reasonably priced and not watered down which was nice! Hotel is nice, main areas and pool are really good. The room is good, but bathroom not that good. Really small and doesn't go with the rest of the hotel. Service is not good though. Slow, twice I went to the pool and there were no towels available... Restaurants are extremely overpriced and there's nothing special about the food. Overall hotel is over rated to me. We spent five nights at the Frenchman's Reef. We requested, and paid the upgrade, an ocean view room. The room was nice but a little dated. Our view was of a palm tree. The ocean was almost impossible to see. Because we paid for 5 nights we received a $50 a day food credit for the resort. This was nice but there is a $45 a day resort fee so we actually only has $5 a day. Our room has an adjoining door to the next room. Visited at end of September 2016. We had a 7th floor room with Balcony looking across the bay to town of Charlotte Amalie. The Hotel does show were and tear in the public areas and in our room. The location is good. Some of the restaurants were closed for some meals due to the off season. The real problem is the cost for food is too high. Higher than Airport food. The selection was limited. Beautiful! Well maintained and attractive grounds, pools, views, and many amenities are available. The shuttle will not take you off the property, so I do recommend renting a car (remembering to drive on the left --if you're from the US-- and learning how differently they use right-of-way is a challenge so please be very careful!), using the safari taxis, or using cabs. THE PARKING HERE IS HORRENDOUS. You'll need to take your time and drive around in the garage until a spot opens up. Amazing... Read more
