"Overall ex.The hotel tried to over charge me for everything. Price gouging by all of St. Thomas tourism employees. Quality-Eco Tour was the only thing worthy of a rating & it was excellent. Value- See overall experience. Cleanliness- Lobby & hotel room were very nasty. Staff efficiency- Unbelieveable- see trip summary about towels, front desk & taxi service. Staff friendliness- The Eco-tour guide & the hotel bartender each get a rating of ten out of five(excelent) but all other service staff, brings this score down to a two. We arrived in St. Thomas on Tuesday March 20 2012. This is where the disappointment began, we purchased the round trip transportation to the hotel from the airport. This was a joke! We waited an hour for the driver of our taxi bus to fill every seat on the bus, but then we drove across the street to our hotel that we could have walked to in five minutes. At the end of the trip we did walk to the airport with two big bags and three carry ons, this was so much easier. We went in to the lobby of the hotel to check in and the staff was really hateful and threatening, telling us the rules of the resort instead of the perks of our stay. The lobby was dirty, out dated, and the roof was leaking in the floor. The rooms weren't any better, being out dated, fingerprints all over the sliding glass door, hair in the bathroom floor, did I mention the brown water in the water supply. After our first night, housekeeping cleaned our room and never returned our towels, after complaining to the front desk they gave us the explaination that they wash the towels as they clean the rooms and if we didn't get our towels back, it was because we didn't leave them for housekeeping, we only had had towels for the rest of the trip. The high point of the trip was the eco-tour, which was the one and only day that we enjoyed while we were on the island.This was a kayaking, hiking & snorkeling trip in Caneel bay on St. John. This was wonderful and our guide was very nice, friendly and informative. The Eco-tour is the only reason this trip got any kind of rating at all. At the time of check out I was charged an extra $150.00 due to a phantom restaurant check that was charged to my room, but the hotel staff never could produce a reciept with my signature. I will say that the bartender at the hotel was very nice and helpful I had such high hopes for this trip and was calling it the trip of a lifetime and would tease my wife by referring to this as such. My wife and I took this trip as our one year anniversary trip. I worked really hard to keep this a secret from my wife with this so called trip of a lifetime and did achieve this goal, only to have both of our hopes dashed and to both be disappointed beyond belief. Maybe if we would've stayed at another hotel it would've been better, but it was still a tourist trap and major money pit. I hope others don't suffer the same disappointment that we did !"

"The stay was excellent, except my room was not ready when I arrive. I did not want to stay inside of the hotel, wanted to stay much closer to the view of the ocean, and more of a private entrance to my room. That is why I try to book early, hopefully I can get a room with a private entrance next time."

"Overall this experience with St. Thomas was horrible. Everywhere you turned on the island someone was trying to price gouge you becasue you were a tourist. $40 for 2 hamburgers and 2 non alcoholic drinks, ridiculous! The 'Taxis' are unregulated so they pretty much charge you what they feel is appropriate, from $6 - $20 A PERSON! It's only 7 miles from one end of the island to the next! The people on the island, including the hotel staff were very rude and non accomodating.

The hotel rooms were a mess. Hair on the floors in the bathroom, a shower stall no bigger than a prison shower, the toilet was located in the corner of the bathroom, 14 inches from the shower wall. The water coming out of the pipes was yellow. We were told to let it run a bit, it NEVER got any better.

We arrived in St. Thomas on Wednesday July 11, 2012 as part of a wedding party. This is where our disappointment began, we purchased the round trip transportation to the hotel from the airport for $62. This was a joke! We asked a police officer where our hotel was and he pointed to it across the street. Literally less than 100 yards from the airport terminal. We ended up walking to the hotel with our bags. I was appauled I had to pay $32 apiece for that!!

Would I ever recommend this to a friend, NO. Our experience in St. Thomas was a joke and I do not plan on going back, EVER.
