Stayed at this hotel for three nights, ate in the restaurant and the bar during my stay. It appears to me that the rooms seem to have been refurbished relatively recently. My room was quite small - nowhere to put my bag other than the floor or the bed while I unpacked, slightly odd open wardrobe space, only a shower and no bath. Shower was fine albeit that the water temperature varied from time to time. Bed was quite hard and would benefit from a mattress topper just to take the edge off it.... Read more

Stayed overnight for a wedding. Arrived at the bar for pre-wedding drinks. There was a lonesome young lady struggling to cope with the arrival of copious numbers of guests. After 10minutes of waiting I went in search of back-up staff. This had obviously not been given any thought. Our daytime numbers were over 100! There was absolutely no structure to the rest of the wedding day. lovely hotel, good mix of ,historical and traditional with the modern annex tucked at the back. my only main gripe - business or pleasure, was the breakfast. overall lovely choices and more than willing and helpful staff. however majority of food held in bainmarie's - and as we all know, if you are a 'late' eater/riser then bacon becomes tough as old boots and most choices will lose any semblance of heat - so i have to say whilst the hotel was excellent [they can't be blamed for our inconside... We stayed on our wedding night and had a poor experience from start to finish. They booked our room in the wrong name, our bags weren't in the room on arrival (despite asking for them numerous times) we paid extra for a suite so we could have a lie in and some luxury. Oddly, you couldn't see the tv from bed it is in the middle of the room behind a wall. Loud music 8am from reception etc. And to top it off... They have taken payment from my bank account despite saying at checkout that it was all ... Read more

We stopped for 2 nights B&B at The mount hotel which was our 1st stop of a journey we had chose. Hotel looked very appealing from outside and inside had wood panelled walls under and around the stair case when you walked in and it looked beautiful. Very clean and tidy and staff were cheerful and helpful. Rooms were pleasant and breakfast was very enjoyable each morning. Prices for the hotel restaurant to us was pricey and limited (catered out for company meetings and functions) but there are l... Read more

Excellent room, excellent service, and an excellent evening meal with good value wines accompanying. The function room (the former library) is a delight. Would love breakfasts to be prepared individually rather than 'self serve' from stainless steel vessels, but otherwise an excellent evening/night, and good value. The Mount was once excellent, had a period of 'faded glory', but now seems to be on way back up ... along with Wolves??

In March 2016 I held the wake of my late partner in the great hall. It was a well attended event and quite an emotional time. Our friends at a local brewery had produced a bottled beer inspired by one of my partnerā??s overseas adventures and they had bought 150 bottles to the wake so that guests could take away a small memento mori. Sadly when we arrived at the hotel the microphone I was given didn't work, I had to rely on my sister informing the guests individually. At the end of the eveni... Read more

I booked a single room with breakfast for a business trip at a very competitive rate. I later requested a price for an upgrade to a twin room. The Mount responded with a confirmed booking at no extra charge! I was so surprised that I even called them to confirm. Now that is what I call service!

Nice hotel unfortunately when there is a wedding and both nights of our stay there was. Everybody spills into the bar. What's comes with this is loads kids and our visit was ruined. There were kids running around in the lounge bar screaming and shouting. The weddings should be contained to the room where the wedding is to allow other guests. Local pub here we come!!!

Stayed here for a business trip for one night. While the outside looks like a stately home the rooms are model/contemporary and amazingly done. Think it was a delux room but had more space than I was expecting. Room was at the back of the hotel so no issues with traffic noise.

The food was delicious on the Friday evening in the restaurant and the wedding breakfast was equally as good if not better. Steve the master of ceremonies was just brilliant, even going out of his was on Friday night to come and say hello. There is nothing whatsoever I can say to fault this wonder hotel. So I stop here on a semi regular basis and have eaten my way through the menu and had so so service, but things where much improved on this recent visit. The new menu is quite inventive and the "torched" mackerel starter was a mouthwatering experience, whilst the Sirlion was cooked to perfection. Felt relaxed and friendly. The hotel itself has lovely comfortable bedrooms that are well provided for in terms of amenities.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. The hotel is in a quiet area and has free parking. Our room was large with a well equipped bathroom with large shower and separate bath. We also had a sofa bed in our room with TV on the wall and tea and coffee making facilities. We had room service on arrival which came quickly, was well priced and tasty. The dinner which we had pre-chosen was very nice, hot and served quickly. We had a good evening. Breakfast in the morning was good, plenty to choose... Read more

My daughter treated me to afternoon tea here as a surprise,I had never been to the hotel before and was really surprised how lovely the hotel is. Although it was a grey drizzly day we sat by the window and looked out over the gardens. Afternoon tea consisted of a choice of 6 teas,we opted for breakfast tea so this was served in individual tea pots which were quite big and we were also asked if we wanted these topped up when we had finished. There were 4 finger sandwiches each with different fill... Read more

We stayed at The Mount for our annual motorsport club dinner and presentations evening last weekend. Most people stayed over and I heard lots of complimentary comments. Our Deluxe Room, on the top floor, was large, modern and comfortable with a lovely little seating area. Our bathroom was also roomy and had a great shower. We missed our memory foam bed from home but we still awoke feeling refreshed. Breakfast was good, lots of choice both hot and cold. The dinner in The Great Hall was for ... Read more

I booked this hotel for my husband; the reviews looked good but he wasn't very pleased with it. The room and the bathroom were very pleasant but the reception, staff and food left much to be desired. On arrival at night he found the car park to have an unmade, uneven surface and insufficient lighting. On check-in the receptionist was busy on the phone so my husband was left waiting without any acknowledgement until "a manager" came over to help out. He'd arrived late so didn't use the restaurant... Read more
