I have had to stay here twice now, and the second time was only because a colleague booked the room for me. Right on the racecourse, which I guess is where they make the big bucks from. This place is in serious need of refurbishment, from the lobby, through to the bar, and up into the bedrooms, it looks like nothing has changed from the 80's. The room was cold, the bed wasnt comfortable and it all seemed just a little bit dirty (maybe it was clean but because everything was worn it maybe looked... Read more

Loved the location at the races. Rooms ok but hot even when heating turned down. Elevator is terrible and needs new controls. Bathroom standard ok Room - Bed was good firm but annoying light switch directly on headboard meant I switch the lights on 10 times by accident. Bar was very poorly manned, and beer selection very poor. Ok wifi connection

Worst place ever. Would not recommend. Disgusting service and management. Do not stay there. Will not issue receipts for money received. Have stayed in many hotels and this was the one from hell. Was supposed to have been a relaxing business trip. Nightmare

What an awful place to stay. Shabby hotel. Nothing to do around here. Tvs in room have limited channels. They state free wifi however the signal was dreadful therefore got no work done nor could you watch tv via the internet. As for breakfast...it was awful. Limited choice of tasteless food. Had to wait 3 days for a banana!

We stayed here 12mths ago for a family event so it seemed the only choice for a repeat visit. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and advised that they had just re-opened after a 11 week refurbishment and we were the 2nd people to check in! and apologies for the smell of paint. The young Jamaican lady on reception (sorry didn't get her name) was extremely pleasant and helpful and got the room sorted swiftly. We had a slight issue when we got off the lift and there was no sign to say whi... Read more

Stayed here last year and was a bit shabby Booked up again this year and was impressed, booked a room with a parade ring view, the hotel and room was clean & fresh. Rooms had decent air con and the wi fi was really good. Breakfast was good not a lot of choice but what there was it was good. Plenty of car parking.

Stayed for one night with a colleague on a business trip - on arrival lots of parking and a receptionist with a great smile and pleasant manner. Hotel in the final stages of a refurb so there is a small smell of fresh paint but nothing to bother you by. In the restaurant the chef and waitress couldn't do enough for both us - Mac n cheese the nicest I have eaten and when I asked for a little bit of salad on the side this was no bother - my colleague asked for a gluten free Spag Bol and a pudding ... We stayed here on a special 5,000 points break deal from the hotel group which was a great deal. The hotel room was really nice overlooking some of the race course. There was loads of free parking and the staff were friendly. There was a problem with my room card not working which meant I had to return to reception twice before it was sorted out but apart from that everything was good. We didn't have breakfast as it was too expensive. This hotel was really handy for visiting 2 National Trust pro... Read more

ihave lived in the midlands for so many yearys as a child and did not know we had a race cousre until i stay at an other hotel on derby day and some one asked for the the race course. the my sister had her 50 birthday party there two weeks ago. in the morning you look out and see most of the race course and see the wanderfulness outside mostly when when it is sunny.

stayed here previously and i cant find fault with the place really, what has got better is the staff though, from checking in to bar and restaurant and even to the morning breakfast staff they were all pleasant and friendly! not that much choice on the bar menu though that would be the only reason why it doeant get 5 stars, plenty of free parking and if youre lucky enough you might even choose a race night!

Only stayed for one night but found the hotel to be lovely and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel had clearly recently been decorated and was to a good standard and very clean. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. Would definitely stay again.

I recently stayed at this Holiday Inn with my sister. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel itself has just been refurbished so it is spotlessly clean and we received an extremely warm welcome from the friendly staff here. You could tell that they actually wanted to be there and went out of their way to providing excellent customer service. The room itself had a powerful shower, beds were made daily and clean towels were put in the rooms. There were also tea and coffee making facilities in the... Read more

We have a yearly show at the race course so it makes sense to stay here. It's just been refurbed and is looking very clean and fresh. The rooms still smell of paint but that will pass soon - great air conditioning. We forgot to switch it off the first night and I woke up thinking I was sleeping in a morgue. Fire alarm went off a few time due to new super setting making it go off if someone vapes in their room. But all of that means nothing they have a member of staff who I really hope they ... Read more

We stayed last year and found the hotel rooms tired and in need of some updating, so we were delighted to find this year that the hotel has indeed been refurbished. Not only have the rooms be updated, but so has the bar and restaurant area downstairs. We were staying over for the races and had a great night. Being able to stay at the course is a real treat and the staff working late were very good at dealing with a large group of us. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was a good spread. ... Read more

The hotel was excellent from check in to room, I enjoyed my stay there. Clean, fresh, comfortable room and friendly staff. I was at a conference next door, so I had chosen the hotel for ease, but I'm really happy I did as it was excellent.

I stayed here on a business trip with colleagues. It has a huge car park (which I assume is for the adjacent racecourse), and the hotel was clean , tidy with helpful staff. Fine for a business trip, or if you are going racing.

This is third time I have stopped here for a race night saturday including entertainment and racing and three course meal. PROS 1) Staff very friendly and helpful 2) Room nice with a very comfortable bed. 3) Food at dinner and breakfast very nice and extremely good value 4) Everything well organised and went well. CONS 1) When we arrived to take our table for dinner and racing we were put on the second level I asked the MANAGER why as I have bad knees and we had always stopped on the top floor, ... Read more

staff very pleasant and helpful - room spacious and clean - only BIG draw back which could be quite dangerous was the fact we could not alter the temperature on the shower/bath - I ended up using the drinking cups to put cold water into the bath - husband had to dive in an out the shower NOT VERY GOOD other than that very pleasant - bit of confusion as to whether breakfast had been booked if we paid in advance it was approx. £11.00 per head and if we came down at breakfast and paid there and... Had a lovely one night stay here for a function. The hotel has clearly been recently refurbished and was fresh, bright and clean. Lovely bar/lounge area serving Starbucks coffee. All the staff were really courteous and helpful. The breakfast was fine. The only downside was that somebody had pinched our free daily newspaper from outside our room.

Unforgettable party - booked a box for 12 with a four course meal!! Fabulous evening and a very special thank you to Megan who looked after us for the evening - nothing was too much trouble for her and she didn't stop smiling! Also, many thanks to the reception and tote staff for looking after us. The hotel and food could not be faulted. The most fantastic evening.

Booked an office party. Greeted in the car park by a drunken yob shouting racist abuse. The music was so loud we could not talk at the table. Turkey finished early. The beef was so dry my dog can chew on it for months. Only enjoyable thing was the races. Will never book here again

Staying for work, as a lone female felt safe. Staff lovely, so helpful. Room a good size with additional sofa, WiFi complementary as website said it was chargeable and had been on previous stay at another hotel in the chain(had put me off using holiday in as amount seemed extortionate!). Only negatives were quality of complimentary shampoo/shower liquid which was in a pump dispenser and very flimsy toilet paper, Redwings hotel locally was better for those two things and they are definitely budg...
