Stayed for four nights, reception very pleasant, overall the stay was very comfortable, relaxing, used the pool, the gym had been refurbished looked to be very clean with excellent equipment, breakfast was excellent very pleasant service, bar staff friendly. A longer stay this time, 4 nights and I got to use all the facilities unlike the last time. The evening food was very good, a steak cooked and trimmed just how I liked it. Breakfast has a good selection but has no fish option - and I do like the Hilton EMA for its smoked salmon at breakfast. Bar service was fine. Its Gym is standard Hilton small but plenty of kit. The pool is nice and wide so my early morning swims didn't impede any of the daily users. The club room I had is a good size with a s... Read more

Having stayed at this hotel some years ago, I was pleasantly surprised at the standard of refurbishment. Room was clean with modern fittings (including Wi-Fi). The bathroom was to a good standard with the only negative point being the lighting. Some form of lighting just above the hand basin would make shaving easier and I would imagine for ladies, to apply make-up. I did not eat at the restaurant but the bar meals appeared to be well proportioned. As always, bar prices rather high - as for ALL ... Read more

I have stayed in the renovated section of this hotel 5 or 6 times. It's a very nice hotel. It is a comfortable place to stay with a nice solarium. They used to have couches and comfortable wing back chairs in the solarium. Sadly they have replaced them with rather uncomfortable chairs. It has spoilt the old world feel of the room. On the positive side, staff is nice, Park is beautifull and breakfast is good . gym is well equipped. On the negatives, ground rooms are a bit aged, can feel humid and smell a bit musty. Wi-Fi is a TOTAL Joke!

Great to receive such a warm and efficient welcome. We were given a room on the Buckhurst floor- very nice. The room lighting was not very bright as is often the case in Hilton hotels but the bed were very comfortable. Breakfast at weekends is served from 8am but continental is available from 7.30am. However, we had to leave early so went down at 7.30- to find all the food available so had a superb breakfast of full English and pastries etc.

Old worn out rooms. Poor customer service at the front desk and room service. Not value for money at all and could hear everything from next doors room. Good location but lacks everything else. I'm aware there are new rooms which may be better.

This hotel is a good choice for a family if you are on a visit to LEGOLAND as it 10-12 miles away and works out a lot cheaper than the LEGOLAND hotel. We had a double/double family room which had two comfortable double beds for 2 adults and 2 grandchildren. The pool area although small is good with good changing area. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality. Although the hotel was busy we were not disturbed. Good value for money stay.

Visited here for my friends birthday last Friday for a spa day and afternoon tea. The hotel looked lovely on arrival and we were seated in the conservatory area for tea. Sandwiches were ok and the scones were lovely. But the cakes were 4 tiny triangles of sponge cake which had no flavour at all and very boring. Every other afternoon tea I've had has been a variety of different types of cakes not just all sponge. So not very impressed. We also ordered a Diet Coke each on the side which was £4 ea... Read more

This was my second stay in the last year. Love the historical feel inside and out. The hotel is excellent value for money, the staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. Had the breakfast buffet every morning, plenty of choices and great quality of food - the dinning area was very clean and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxing

Not the standard expected for a Hilton hotel. The room I had smelt of stale cigarette smoke and the bathroom wasn't very clean. The food was also disappointing. As a conference facility it serves a purpose but the hotel is very tired and dated.

I attended this hotel recently for a spa break with my other half, as both of us do a lot of exercise and our bodies were in pieces! The spa experience was lovely, and the use of the pool and jacuzzi was so relaxing. I highly recommend the hotel restaurant which served beautiful food. The breakfast included in our stay was delicious with lots of choice. The service across the hotel was friendly, and sometimes fantastic, particularly the receptionist who was fantastic at her job. Our only gru... Read more

this is the second time I have stayed here. The first time the room was dated and needed renovating, but otherwise acceptable. This time, 12 months later, the room is awful. The TV barely works, the WiFi signal is so poor it is barely useable and you can feel the springs through the bed. As the hotel was fully booked, there was no choice but to stay put. In fairness to the duty manager, he did try to sort it out the bed by putting a duvet over the mattress and gave me a complimentary glass of ... Read more
