Our room, food and service all exceeded our expectations. The Wykeham Arms is in a perfect position to explore Winchester and is one of the most beautiful pubs in a town full of beautiful pubs. Highly recommended.

The first two nights I stayed in Le Bureau room across the street from the pub, which was very comfortable. On the third night I stayed with my partner above the pub in the Hamilton Room. The name reflects the connection with Admiral Nelson and Emma Hamilton who stayed at the pub during his brief periods ashore. As a Nelson fan this was a real plus for me, especially the large amount of Nelson Memorabilia in the main bar which was fascinating. The author, Leo Marriot has written a book called "... Read more

Our stay in the Post Box Room could not have been faulted, large bedroom with comfortable bed, dressing room and large bathroom. Complementary drinks in the small fridge with coffee/tea making facilities also provided. The staff behaviour was very friendly and exemplary, with every request, however small, being treated with a 'can do' attitude. Even though we were only guests we were treated as one of the family. The only criticism would be the dinner menu, which was somewhat restricted for a t... Read more

This was an expensive nights stay but I booked it for the location and went on feedback through Tripadvisor. Firstly there's a road closed which made finding the small car park difficult - it would have been good to have known this. Welcome was poor. Room called luxury, really wasn't and overlooked a building site - I was glad we weren't staying here during the week. The noise from the bar was loud and and made sleeping quite difficult. Breakfast though was excellent as was the food at lun... Read more

We had a wonderful stay at the Wykenham Arms. It is a very cosy inn with a lovely pub, the rooms were spacious and the service was great. We had complementary cafetiere coffee and ales waiting for us in the room which was lovely.

I was travelling alone on a short business trip and took the single room. It was small but had everything I needed. A comfortable bed, was as warm as toast, good size tv, small fridge with water and free beer included! I had good Wi-Fi reception in the bedroom. Shampoo, soap etc provided in the en-suite shower room. The breakfast was superb and I should add the bar and restaurant area is so cosy and welcoming especially with two roaring log fires.

I visited this great pub exactly a year ago today with a friend visiting from Oz and we absolutely loved it so I decided to go back with another friend this afternoon. Well I can truly say it was even better than I remembered and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. In particular the really great guy behind the bar who some how managed to recognized me from the last time I came in and was just as helpful and friendly as he was a year ago to the day....I wish I got your name to personall... Lovely pub with plenty of character. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The room we had was beautiful with a very quirky bathroom. The breakfast was delicious and set us up for a day's shopping.

Very friendly welcome with a lovely bar and great breakfasts. Room had a strong smokey smell throughout the stay. Great central location and plenty to do in Winchester for a quiet weekend away. Very friendly staff who were always there to help

I've known of the Wykeham for years as my mum lives in Winchester. Been there many a time but never to stay. We were visiting my mum, from California, and decided to stay at the Wykeham due to it being the Wykeham really. Location is great, by the cathedral, easy walking for the town centre, and as I said, it's the Wykeham! It's a Fullers pub, so you get Fullers beers and a few others. We didn't have dinner - it was booked solid - but we had their inclusive breakfast which was fabulous. Re... Read more
