The hotel was a pleasant 10 min walk from town centre. Winchester is a historical town with lovely walks and lots of nice shops, pubs and eating places. A number of free entry places to visit. A pity you have to pay now to go into the cathedral. The hotel was was well situated. There was a nice outside sitting area, which was pleasantly unexpected due to the location. Great for a short break if you want to enjoy a bit of history.

This hotel is approached via a public car park and the first instinct is to use the exit and locate another hotel; however, that would be a mistake as the hotel has all that's required for an enjoyable stay (once you get inside). Rooms are clean, spacious and relaxing. If I had to complain, I'd say the restaurant lacked atmosphere in the evening - but that's easy to remedy as there are plenty of places to dine in Winchester. I was on business and therefore didn't get to try the spa facilities.

Had a great time here on Sunday. Very clean room. Hotel is very well appointed. Short walk to town. Pool and massage great. The bar snacks were yummy. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast of kings. We would definitely book again.

Love, love LOVE this hotel!! We have stayed here five times now and each time it does not disappoint. At 5pm on a Saturday, we decided to spontaneously visit. Nothing was too much for the Reception team and we were booked in, upgraded and relaxing by 6.30! We usually go on the Friday feeling offer, however as it was a Saturday we had the Fizz package. The value for money is insanely good! £140 for a room including two glasses of fizz and £50 off our meal. The meal was delicious. We always ... Read more

Booked the "Friday feeling" deal for a short romantic break with my girlfriend and everything was great . I think they must have upgraded us to a club room with kingsized bed which was nice , the room was very clean , quiet and reasonably well appointed . The staff were all friendly and helpful , and the food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast . The spa is quite small and modest as other reviewers have pointed out but it is all clean and in good condition . Was certainly nice to relax i... Read more

A modern hotel in walking distance of the city centre. Bed very comfy and room quiet. Little touches like super-thick towels, heated bathroom mirror and a decent hair-dryer cleverly concealed in the dressing table. Staff smart and mainly young - keen and helpful. Superb meal in the restaurant and the bar has a very nice outdoor seating area. Would stay here again.

We stayed here last Saturday as I wanted to visit Winchester and this hotel was chosen purely because of its peaceful location yet easy access to restaurants/bars and some sight seeing. Parking is limited for the hotel itself but has a big NCP next to it so it isn't a major issue, although for 2pm on a busy Saturday afternoon, we managed to park very comfortably in the hotel car park and was only just over £6 for a 24hr stay....bargain! We stayed here as a couple on Friday 27th May after booking the week before with Expedia for £95 per room with breakfast. We arrived early at 11.30am to be told our room was ready. Excellent efficient check in staff. We had a lovely corner room with 2 windows that opened, comfy bed and nice bathroom. Lots of couples there on the Friday feeling which was booked when I tried. I followed the advice on tripadvisor and booked 2 spa treatments in advance. I had a facial and my husband a massage. B... Read more

I am coming to the end of a 3 day/night stay at this hotel. Rather than waiting until I leave, I am sharing my observations now! Generally, the stay has been uneventful. The room is clean , with lovely towels and plenty of cupboards and drawers. But, a word to the wise, if you struggle with walking or have a poor sense of direction make sure your room is not allocated on the 3rd floor! I have never been to a hotel where I had to take two lifts to my room.one lift from ground to second floor, the... Read more

First impressions of the reception area was that the staff were very friendly and helpful. The foyer looked modern, clean and welcoming. The room itself seemed clean and welcoming if not a touch dated as far as the decor. There was however after looking a used shower cap on the hook on the bathroom door and a half drunk bottle of water in the fridge. The bed was very comfortable and large enough to sleep well. Breakfast in the morning was the high light of the stay however! There was a great sel... Read more

We decided to go on a very last minute night away and found this hotel as it wasn't too far to travel from where we lived. As i booked the same day as we arrived the only rooms left were the standard rooms. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and everyone at the reception desk were really friendly and helpful, you can park after 6pm in the car park at the front of the hotel for free if you wanted or the hotel car park was at the back and also reasonable weekend rates. The room was nice and a... Nice quiet spacious room, all areas of hotel clean, tastefully decorated etc. Used spa facilities daily, small pool but adequate loungers etc. and never crowded. We arrived at the hotel to check in but the room wasn't ready. Instead of just sitting us in the reception to wait, we were invited to have a complimentary drink in the bar and the staff couldn't do enough. The rooms are good as well and the hotel is in a nice setting. Definitely hope to visit this hotel again

To celebrate our engagement we booked a table at Steins in Winchester then thinking we might enjoy a drink as part of that celebration we looked on the Internet for a hotel to avoid driving home. The Winchester hotel and spa had good reviews so we thought we'd stay there. Sadly it was a poor choice. The welcome in reception despite us being the only ones checking in at the time was poor and definitely lukewarm. Our room was a long way from reception; the designer of this hotel probably now work... Read more

I came here with 2 friends for our 1st girly spa weekend. Spa was everything I hoped it would be, pool small but inviting and clean with a resistance flow in it for a bit of a workout, sauna and steam room excellent and Jacuzzi was relaxing and fun. We loved our facials and massages but 1 of us had a very disappointing manicure which I complained about and had refunded (the beautician got polish over most of the cuticles, smudged it and with only 1 coat) although she was lovely I wasn't going t... On the plus side the staff were polite and reasonably friendly. However the place is a typical big hotel with no character, narrow corridors and awful décor. Breakfast is cooked in advance and laid out on hot plates to congeal with no fresh fruit. We skipped it on our second morning and ate out. Also on our second morning there was no hot water in our bathroom. Obviously their systems can't cope if they're reasonably full. Strange car park arrangement - choose between paying the hotel fee or funding the local authority Greeting was less than effusive albeit efficient - the good news being I had been upgraded to a suite - overlooking the front car park and very pleasant. Bar was pleasant and the bar staff well trained and customer orientated Breakfast was fine without being impressive - the cooked breakfast... Read more

Excellent location for looking around Winchester itself and returning to the hotel the group of us enjoyed a very good evening meal with excellent service. Breakfast was good with a standard buffet selection. All in all, very good value for money.

We stayed here the night before embarking a ship from Southampton. The hotel was very busy with a wedding going on, but this did not disturb us and we slept well (we were very tired). The bed was comfortable and we slept with the window open all night, without disturbance. The bedroom and bathroom were both smaller than I'd expected. With a lot of luggage it was a bit cramped. The hotel itself is quite nice, modern and stylish and staff were friendly* We did not have dinner but can say that breakfast was good. Used the pool and although very small it was ok However the main issue for us was the price of the room. At £195 a night this was simply far too overpriced. It can get very busy, but the service still remains good and the food was excellent. Buffet breakfast was also good with a good choice. I stayed at The Winchester Hotel and Spa for three nights on a recent work trip. The staff treated me like a king, the breakfast was definitely fit-for-a-royal and the room ironically had an impressive king sized bed. The pool was my main reason for booking this hotel - something to do in the evening. If I am being honest, this is the only element of this hotel i would improve. Good Staff, Good Room, Good Food, Good Location for the Train Station.
