We selected the Charlecote Pheasant because it was a good location to visit Warwickshire. It was within walking distance of our first venue, the National Trust property Charlecote Park. The hotel is very close to the M40 motorway and Warwick being 6 miles away. We arrived at the hotel around 4pm after visiting Charlecote Park and checked in. The car park has plenty of parking spaces. Our room, a standard double room with bathroom, was on the second floor of the modern building. Good size and all... Read more

A stop over on our way home proved as pleasurable as previous visits. The room was well equipped, comfortable and clean. The hotel is well situated in a very rural and quiet position adjacent to Charlecote Park National Trust property and only 5 miles from Stratford upon Avon. The staff were mostly friendly, the receptionist being particularly helpful. However, the barman was rather taciturn and unprofessional. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast and will certainly stay again... Read more

10 old school friends have recently returned from another visit to the Charlecote Pheasant. It is one of the better Shearings hotels and is in a very nice area. My husband & I had asked for a walk in shower and were very happy with the wet room in room 20 (a first for us). The room was nicely done with plenty of sitting space for all 10 of to congregate in. I'm afraid that the comments I made for our last group visit still apply especially to the evening meals. All that can be said is that they ... Read more

Stopped here enroute for lunch. The greeting from the male suit in the bar was "Can I help you",we asked for a table for two in the restaurant - "the restaurant is fully booked out!!! No pleasantries or explanatory apology why. As it was strange, two thirds of the tables were empty the rest occupied by a small coach party. We went for a long weekend as a family celebration and before coming away I, as usual, checked on here. I was very concerned at what I would find. It is a Shearings Hotel as such I expected budget and crowds. It is clean and welcoming. The staff are, to a man, pleasant and helpful. The room was roomy and clean, free wifi, nice fluffy towels and teas & coffees replenished every day. (Though I agree that a biscuit or two would be great!!) We booked this hotel merely as a convenient base for Stratford and the bike routes around the area. We weren't expecting much after reading some of the reviews...However, we were pleasantly surprised. The (Premium) room was quiet and away from the main house and restaurant, which was accessible through the lovely gardens. The food was basic but good. The staff were some of the most smiley people we've ever seen and nothing was too much trouble. After a day out, drinking Pims on the sun terrace w... Read more

Bit of a whim stop off for dinner after a day out at NT property across the road. Didn't manage to catch the male staff member (Thurs 2nd June @ 16.30) who looked after us but he did an impeccable job - nothing was too much trouble and he was very considerate in moving us inside to a table large enough to accommodate the 6 of us when it got a bit chilly outside. Food was plentiful at a great price. Would definitely return if in the area!!!!

booked a short break for a trip to stratford-on-avon and was very pleased with what we found. None of the rooms are in the main building but this was fine. Room was a reasonable size and very clean. Unusually for a Shearings hotel the breakfast was buffet style but this worked well. If you needed something different like kippers or ham and eggs you just asked the waiter. Called in here after visiting Charlecote house. Not very impressed with the look - very much a motel and inside is nice and clean but that familiar identikit eatery look. Still, we thought we'd give it a try. Started with a couple of pints of lime & soda to cool down after a very hot afternoon. £5.20 - couldn't believe it, what a rip-off for a bit of cordial and some water (yes I know glasses have to be washed etc etc, but still). That made us think twice about staying to eat and drink somethin... Read more

Stayed here with tour group. I didn't like the formality of restaurant where you had to queue up to be marked off on a list and then escorted to a table. After-all it is a restaurant and should be able to sit where you want. The food was good and staff pleasant (mostly East European) and all slim and attractive. My room on ground floor west side was ok but I could hear doors opening and shutting and creaking of ceiling from room above. However, all was quiet after about 10pm. until morning. The ... Read more

I can't comment on the hotel facilities as its been many years since I stayed there. However.... The restaurant has deteriorated beyond comprehension. I foolishly expected a decent lunch. After all, although it's not haute cuisine, it isn't cheap as chips either. But it should be, because it's cheap food, poorly presented. I had chosen the chicken in white wine sauce.
