We had a lunch for 50 people fir my husbands 70th birthday. It was wonderful , we have stayed there many tjmes. But this was before its latest change of management and iwnership. Only a set menu which was pretty awful, very little choice, no a la carte menu anymore. The room was cold, smelt musty and none too clean. The whole hotel was occupied by people on a secret escapes special deal which was considerably cheaper than the price we paid. We checked out after one night and went home. Its a lov... Read more

We had a lovely corner room in the original building, very stately. Very imposing setting, nice restaurant, food and staff. On the terms we were on it was great value for money so we will definitely be back. We didn't use the Spa but it looked nice; you probably need to book early if you want a massage - a mistake we made.

Stayed in the newer part of the hotel for a wedding, which was awesome and a wonderful location for such an important event. Accommodation was comfortable but let down by dated decor and dirty cups in the room. Also there was no internet service available and no mobile phone signal, which is may be a blessing if you want a relaxing and uninterrupted stay but inconvenient - reception staff weren't answering the room phone at around 8pm, and the night staff just said it wasn't working, so we neve... Staying in the main hall is a lovely experience, however, I don't know if the hotel would be the same. From visiting there for a drink one evening the layout was more like that of an Ibis than a Mercure. I cannot comment on the hotel rooms as I stayed in the Hall. Apart from that, and the WIFI being very slow and inconsistent, everything else was excellent.

We stayed here for 1 night- booked via Secret Escapes. Emailed hotel before stay to ask for a nice room as it was our anniversary and got an upgrade to a suite. Room was fantastic - large, amazing bathroom with separate living area. A wedding was going on and we even had a air display right outside our window. Breakfast and dinner both good- a very enjoyable stay.

Stayed here for 1 night last weekend and wanted to drop my case off or check in early as we had a wedding to attend at a different venue and didn't want to be lugging a case in the back of a taxi in the early hours of the morning so we dropped into the hotel at 12:20 to see if our room was available as most hotels will let you check in or offer to take your case and keep it safe at the very least. Pluses: Amazing building (The Hall) and grounds; Good value for money (we paid £31 for a suite); Large rooms (well furnished & contemporary with high ceilings); Decent bathroom; Friendly staff Minuses: Very poor WiFi (would be no good for business travellers); Aircon so weak in the bedroom that we didn't sleep at all well (windows are sealed shut); Had to send a £25 steak back dining in the bar in The Hall as cooked well done when I ordered rare (guy serving was very good, in fairness to him... I had a one night getaway here with my girlfriend. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and it's great to be so far from other civilisation. The hotel is pretty big and a mix of buildings. Oddly enough The biggest let down was that the curtain hook in our room was clearly bunged in place and when i closed the curtain it pulled out some toilet paper that had been used to keep it in place. This supported my general feeling that the hotel wasn't very well loved. The pool was fine but not up t... Read more

Lovely hotel, excellent location, loved the ducks and rabbits that roam freely. Food really good also. We had one problem, I realise it doesn't happen every Tuesday by we were given room 43 for our two night break. Disco started in conference room and continued until just after midnight, asked if they could close Windows and doors on our side as the opposite side of room opens onto lawn and fields. Opted for a local overnight stay hoping for a relaxing night off. Maybe feel a little bit spoilt and enjoy some calm and luxury. While the hall grounds are tranquil and stunning, the hotel itself is not even close. The 'spa' is shabby, was crowded and noisy, with no where to for at least half the people in there to sit and relax. The room was average, the tv dusty and only workable by a remote control that was out of battery. The call to reception to replace them failed as the internal phone did... Read more

Stayed previously in the main Hall part which was amazing, this time we were in the hotel part. Our room was rotten in the bottom right & didn't open so had to rely on noisy air conditioners to cool the room and where the curtain had been fastened to the ceiling, previous attempts were still clearly visible. We came here as a reasonable base for Stratford Upon Avon with some luxury hopefully added in for my birthday. I understand from other guests that the main part of the hotel has some beautiful rooms but we stayed in one of the rooms in the "newer part" This room had a very low sloped ceiling by the window which you could not open and it felt quite hemmed in. The setting and the main hall are stunning to look at, yet for some reason they have made this an average Mercure hotel. It is not bad at all, but you just look at the images of the hotel and expect it to deliver so much more. Why they haven't put more effort in to the hotel, chosen one of the better Accor brands, I do not know.......A very strange combination!

We'd come for a family reunion weekend with 11 family members ranging in age from 4 to 82 with all rooms booked and paid for in advance. There was still a huge queue when the rest of our party arrived at 7pm. The twin room we'd booked did not materialise. Our elderly grandparents were allocated the family room while the family with the small children got a double. We eventually go... Read more

We had a good two day stay at Walton Hall and would certainly return. The hotel surroundings are wonderful and the hotel in generally well appointed. Impressive gym and swimming pool. Breakfast was very good and fresh white linen on the tables was much appreciated. Staff all very friendly and helpful, particularly Jonny on front desk who helped us change rooms. Impressive. First room on 3rd floor was ok but window did not open. It was a hot weekend. There was ac but we were in the country!. Seco... Read more

We were a party of five, myself and husband, daughter and son-in-law and son. We were given a lovely suite of rooms with two double and a single in the living area. We also had a small kitchen which was very useful. We used the swimming pool which was clean with good changing rooms. We went early in the morning when it was very quiet. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.

Hotel surroundings are fabulous and we stayed in one of the newer buildings. Rooms here have either balconies with windows or doors and the room amenities are adequate. Our room didn't have a safe (the holes showed where it once was) and one light didn't work however it was clean and tea/coffee tray was well stocked. The bed was big and comfortable and the building was very quiet. Complimentary hot drinks are available from machines in the lounge and leisure centre. Food and service in the rest... Read more

Where to start.... I read lots of reviews mostly good some not so but was very hopeful of a good stay. A 1 night stay for me and my wife we travelled 3 hours to get there and was not disappointed at all. I had called the hall a few days before to see if the rooms were allocated yet and was told not till the night before and was asked why so I mentioned it was a special stay and was hoping our room would be lovely. The Hotel and the setting were lovely but the Customer Service was terrible. We had asked for rooms next to each other when we booked and got there to find my daughters room was on the other side of the hotel resulting in a marathon run every time we wanted to see each other or share things. The key cards were frequently not working and when we called for help it took ages for anyone to come. When we complained about these things nobody seemed to care. I would stay here if you want a relaxin... Read more

The hotel is split into two parts you have the hall which has more executive rooms attached and then you have the hotel itself a bit further down with standard rooms, bar and breakfast area. It would of been nice to see some marmite spread in the breakfast area. Never got time to use the spa unfortunately. Bit confusing when you arrive which reception you go to as there are two not very well sign posted with which is which. Overall a nice hotel with beautiful views of the grounds around ... Read more

We stayed in a junior suite in the 16th century hall, and it was very nice. The suite was spacious, and great value for money. The hotel restaurant is a very high standard, and the staff extremely attentive. The only downside was that you cannot pre-book spa treatments, and when we arrived they were fully booked.

We were blessed with amazing weather so could roam the beautiful grounds-very pretty. Staff were very courteous and attentive. Great stay at Walton Hall. Clean and modern room, fantastic surroundings and great breakfast. Would definitely visit again for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle. Our friends had their wedding reception at Walton Hall and they couldn't have chosen a more idyllic and beautiful venue! The grounds the hotel is set in are just lovely. The receptionist were very nice and helpful although we did have to reactivate the keys before we'd even got into the room. One of our daughters and her husband were visiting from Australia so we were looking for somewhere a bit special to stay. We chose this hotel as the hall and grounds looked amazing, and they are. Stayed here after the Game Fair at Ragley Hall. Comfortable but our room was a bit stuffy as we couldn't open the windows due to a wedding event happening at the main part of the Hall. Nothing more than unfortunate timing. Beyond that the room was absolutely fine, and if you have dogs, this place is close to perfect. Huge exercise area out the front. Breakfast was perfectly OK although my wife found the continental side of it a bit limited. Would use the hotel again.

We visited for 1 night and I would recommend the hotel if you want to get away in the beautiful countryside. Hotel was situated down a long road very secluded but not far from the local village. Rooms were to a good standard and the public areas very nicely presented. The restaurant was excellent the service was brilliant and food very good, couldn't fault any of it. The grounds the hotel is set in are wonderful, especially if you want to go for a lovely walk by the river.

Lets start with a positive the location and grounds are stunning and with better management this place could be a gold mine. Alas, to us it appears to be a bit of a Mercure training centre and because of its secluded/rural location takes it's customers for granted. Do not book a ground floor room as we found this very stuffy as you can only open the window a little. That said we slept like logs.
