If my experience can help anyone make a decision... find an alternative place to stay. I stayed at this hotel around 5 years ago, and remembered it as basic but overall did the job fine. It has deteriorated considerably; basic is fine, but filthy is not. The rooms are not clean. There was a large blood stain on the mattress, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned (dirt/hairs in bath, sink and floor) and the kind of stains on the bath/shower that build up over a long period of not being cleaned proper... I need a place to stay as I was working late host a boxing show in Manchester, before heading down to Stoke the next day. I booked into the Paddington using a booking app for a double room with breakfast included. I was given a twin room, and no explanation as to the reason why. As I was in a rush, didn't query it either, but they knew I was a lone traveller. The room was a mishmash of styles from across several decades, all a bit worn and alittle dusty. The ensuite was again dated, however the... Read more

Yet again, I've looked at websites to select a hotel for a business trip to Liverpool, found what seemed to be a nice picturesque one which turned out to be a budget, 'workingman's' hotel!. Not that there was anything wrong with it to be honest..it didnt profess to be anything which it wasnt, was clean and tidy but sparse, lacked any atmosphere and the facilities were basic.

Oh dear, oh dear!! Remember coming here a few years ago, when Jill Callan was head housekeeper for previous owners. Nice friendly hotel and really clean. How things have changed! Definitely would NOT recommend now! Not nice at all. Stroppy staff, dirty and unwelcoming! Recommendations; GO ELSEWHERE!

After feeling chuffed with myself for finding a bargain, I arrived at the paddington house hotel. In its heyday, the place would have been wonderful I'm sure ! we checked in at the dated reception, to a very friendly receptionist (one of the positive aspects of the hotel). When taking our items into the lift - the door on the first floor to leave the lift was broken - leaving us to lift the door from its catch , already not ideal ! the door to our room had clearly been kicked in on multiple occ... Needed a cheap hotel for a night out in Warrington and booked this hotel through Booking.com before reading the Trip Advisor reviews. Yes the hotel is dated, yes there are areas that are in need of renovation and yes some of the fixtures in the room need renewing. However, I paid £38 for B&B and didn't expect the Ritz. What I got was a simple friendly hotel with adequate amenities and a comfy clean bed. Breakfast was fine as well. Just remember, if you want something a bit more upmarket you... Read more

i'm always honest when writing a review. positive or negative. after all its the livelihoods of the people that work there and their reputation. lets be blunt, i would not bring my wife for a romantic break. lots of the other reviews have pointed out poor decor and shabby furnishings. yes its dated. and not somewhere that i would like to spend a lot of time. but it was clean. it was value for money and the customer service was good. i enjoyed the all you can eat buffet breakfast, though i was in... I've stayed here a number of times for work over the last year, each time I was attracted by the cheap price, and each time I regretted booking it the moment I arrived. This could be a lovely place, but it's really run down and dirty. I think the local council use it for emergency housing as a lot of guests didn't look the type to be paying £35 a night. The first time I stayed there was a couple "at it" in the room next door, and the walls are so incredibly thin I could hear everything ??? ... Read more
