We stayed at this hotel for one night on the way down to Ilfracombe. We had booked an Executive Room having had fabulous stays at the Holiday Inn Chester West Executive Rooms on many occasions. When we arrived we found that though it was an Executive Room it was half the size of the one in Wales and though it had been decorated recently we were underwhelmed. On the website it stated that we had bathrobes and slippers, but we only found slippers. We mentioned this to the man on the desk who looke... Read more

The new refurbishment has worked and the hotel and its staff are to be commended. Breakfast is fresh and excellent quality. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Great convenient position, modern, reasonably comfortable, but irritating problems from the beginning. Firstly the trolley available to take our heavy luggage to our room had a fault with its wheels so in the end the reception clerk had to help us. as it was impossible to wheel straight. The room was OK - typical room for a chain hotel, even though we had upgraded so it was a bit larger. Dinner was pretty dire - an accountant's menu - very boring, no sparkle in the menu at all - try our "priz... Read more

Recently stayed here on a work course in the area. The hotel is typical generic chain hotel but the rooms are modern, of a good size and spotless, The biggest complaint is the lack of fresh vegetables available on the restaurant menu. All food appears to be fried or griddled so after a 3 night stay it is a little tedious. All in all decent hotel and decent value.

Stayed here just for 1 night for a girls weekend away as we wanted to see Taunton & was a good location for the 4 of us that live in different parts of the country. The 2 x twin rooms we had were of a good standard, clean & comfy. The reception staff were very friendly, advising on taxi's, suitable places to eat etc. The Night porter was great (we thought he was the manager - so smart in a suit) giving us extra teabags, milks etc. The buffet breakfast was hot, great quality and the restaurant wa... All the staff were very helpful, especially the gentleman on reception in the evening. Would definitely return and recommend.

From the grumpy greeting if your are unfortunate to check in late to the lost boiled eggs ordered at breakfast this place continues to disappoint. This time around I was offered a refurbished room which was OK. They also never acknowledge your status with their reward scheme and forget to log the welcome points. Shame the holiday Inn express next-door was fully booked again.

Booked this hotel for a business trip. Though the reception was a bit chaotic (wrong name) all the rest was fine: good AC in the room, new showers, ample gym (with pool) but most of all: quiet room. at least mine was. And that is surprising, as the hotel is next to the motorway: I could still sleep with the windows open. Obviously this not a leisure stay hotel: is business and mostly blue collar. Only thing that was not up to scratch (in my opinion) was the bed.
