We rather like this hotel because it means we can bring our dogs but not end up in some doggy old dive. There's nothing particularly glamorous about it - it's a typical corporate chain on an unassuming office park right on the junction of the motorway - but that makes it incredibly convenient. Air conditioning meant we could regulate the temperature (nice and straightforward - nothing complicated), comfortable pillows & beds, and a decent breakfast all made this incredible value (and if you're n... Great location just off the M5 with plenty of parking and a convenient Harvester in walking distance. Staff friendly and helpful, room clean and comfortable. A very good inclusive breakfast provided, self serve and topped up regularly, plenty of choice. Great value for money.

As per previous reviews it's a very good budget hotel, perfect for a stop over. Good value, friendly staff and the refurb makes for lovely rooms. Very quiet being well back from the M5. Just ashame the harvester was closed while we were there.

We booked an overnight stay via the Internet. The process was very easy and we were expected. The staff were very polite and helpful and allocated us a room on the ground floor as we have as all dog. Our room was great and the bathroom had an ingenious use of the door (double use). I think the hotel has had a recent refurb as everywhere was smart and clean. The stay included a continental breakfast and we were only expecting a cold buffet, and were very pleasantly surprised at the variety on of... Read more

Stayed here over the Radio 1's Big weekend which was the ideal place to stay just off the M5 as we were travelling down from the North. The room was big enough for our needs and the bed was comfy. It was a bit noisy on the Saturday night in the early hours but I guess that was due to people coming back from the big weekend. I didn't personally eat the breakfast but my family enjoyed the cold things but said the hot food wasn't that great. We couldn't get the wifi to work in our room which w... Read more

My wife and I recently spent four nights here, using it as a base to watch Somerset cricket (or shop). We had a good welcome - the staff were exceptionally friendly throughout. The rooms were not enormous, and strangely coloured fairly dark. The beds were very comfortable, if a little hard. The bathroom had everything you would want. There was a walk in shower, and bath gel etc provided. It was good to have the breakfast in the same building - cooked if you like it - the sausages were way abov... Read more

A quick book-in was followed to a lift-ride to our room which was prepared, clean and large., there was a flat-screen t.v. inside and a alrge en-suite with a good shower and tea/coffee-making facilities. The decor was pleasant on the eye, the bath-towels were top quality and the bed very comfortable. The brekfast was an eat-as-much-as-you-can and although the sausages should be replaced with better ones that don't explode, the array of food was impressive and most of it was of the healthy option... Nicely located, clean. well decorated rooms, staff excellent, what more do you want? Rooms have obviously been refurbished as the decor was fresh and clean and a steam iron was provided - in a HIE! Walk in shower (7/10 for power) no bath and air-conditioning provided. Could do with more power sockets (esp. next to the bed) but other than that, absolutely fine. Although there is no restaurant, you can order a variety of pizzas in the hotel or visit the Griffin (Harvester) for the usual pub fa... Read more

We broke our journey to Cornwall at this hotel, primarily because of the location - just off the M5. Very friendly welcome from the reception team. Good standard as one would expect from this chain. Limited evening menu but other places are a few minutes walk away e.g. Harvester. The Manager suggested a local pub and rang them to try to secure a booking for us. The staff are superb - very professional and friendly.

The reception staff were very welcoming and cheerful and gave us a great upgrade to a vast family room. The hotel appeared very new but was in fact an excellent renovation. Stayed just for 1 night as a stopover. Room/bed/bathroom was very nice - clean and comfortable (as you would expect for HI) and there was PLENTY of onsite parking available. We were allocated a ground floor room, which if I'm honest, I was a little concerned would be noisy due to other guests coming and going, but there was no issue at all. Really could not fault it. Bed was especially comfortable and the place was very clean. Plenty of free parking if you have a car. Staff were also friendly at check-in and departure. On the edge of Taunton and the option to eat onsite was the Harvester next door (I opted for a 10 minute walk instead). See separate review. Even though it was a little expensive than in the past (although we did book only a week ago) it always represents great value. I find that holiday inn express can vary depending on where you are, but this is a fine example. The desk team were spot on, acknowledged my membership and had me checked in before I knew it making for a pleasant experience. The room was brilliant. Great Christmas decorations & warm welcome, off to a great start! Loved the room, it felt comfortable & had a great bathroom. Lovely space at reception for a relaxing drink in the evening. Breakfast is a weak point though. The coffee & pastry selection were good but the cooked options weren't great. I don't eat sausages & the scrambled egg just wasn't appetising. Having said that, we did enjoy our stay & were very comfortable despite the freezing outdoor conditions.
