My friend and I visited the hotel just for a spa day with lunch and two treatments included. We got parked really easily, and were provided with towels etc as soon as we arrived. We found the whole pool area quite cold, and the jacuzzi not as warm as we would've liked but the steam room and sauna were perfect. We were aware that there were refurbishments getting carried out on the leisure facilities which wasn't too distracting but may have been the cause of the cool air. We stood for five minut... This imposing hotel is the old school house in Stirling. Sitting just under the Castle and the old jail, it is accessed by a courtyard car park just after the hotel. The appears to be ample parking but it is also used by locals for the leisure facilities so can get busy. Reception is 3 or 4 steps up from ground level, with no handrail so not great for those with mobility problems. I do think, however, I saw a separate entrance for disabled access. Deep tartan carpet is laid around the area an... Read more

Literally halfway up the hill that is Spittal Street in Stirling the Highland Hotel is a really good location from which to explore Stirling. Located in an a converted former school the architecture of this hotel is full of character and it has plenty of amenities such as a swimming pool, squash courts and gym, a good bar and restaurant and an excellent breakfast. Plenty of car parking and with clean comfortable rooms. What more could you ask.

This hotel is great. Great location, tons of parking options, KING size bed and very affordable!! This is a large room and bathroom compared to most European standards. Check in was easy. They have a restaurant and a bar with two separate menus. Salads, sandwiches and more formal meals if you choose. Very friendly staff and the building its self is very pretty! Close to everything.

Came with my partner for the night. The hotel benefitted from the central location and was busy with tourists. Despite this, we were quickly checked into a spotlessly clean room. Later we had dinner which was first class, and the slow cooked beef is to die for. We had breakfast which looked OK but was cold and we did mention this to reception who advised the problem was the swinging doors to the kitchen(s) and was being addressed. We checked out effortlessly. The location was excellent, the ... Read more

We spent only one night here during a trip to Stirling and the highlands and loved it. The architecture and atmosphere in this former school building gives you such a sense of history when you stay there and we loved wandering around the old corridors and stairs exploring. The pool and spa area is lovely and a great way to spend a couple of hours relaxing before dinner. Can't comment on the evening meal as we chose to eat elsewhere at night but if the breakfast is anything to go by, then I'd b... Read more

The hotel is steps from the fabulous castle in the historic old town of Stirling, and is itself historic, being a converted school. The hotel staff is excellent, the restaurant served food of a very high standard (especially the lamb dish), and the room we stayed in was also clean and comfortable. I have no real complaints, but the one thought was that the conversion from school to hotel had occurred a while ago, and had not achieved its full potential. After all, the basic structure, a histo... Read more

The hotel public areas are super and capture some of the history of the building. The bedroom (a premium room) are traditional and a tad dated in style and priced at highish end for what you get... They have a lot of rooms, but could benefit from further updating. Had breakfast which was fine, although think they could think about the buffet layout - not nearly big enough for the number of guests.

It is on the hill leading up to the Castle, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from the Hotel, and is in the middle of the historic parts of Stirling. A side advantage is that the Hotel is very easy to find if you are driving as all you do is follow the signs to the Castle when you reach Stirling, and you cannot miss it !! The leisure pool temperature fluctuates a lot and never stays steady for long. Today it was far too cold. It would help if the temperature was publically displayed so one could decide whether or not to take the plunge

The hotel was spotless, the staff all so helpful and friendly. The heated indoor pool, steam room, sauna and hot tub were wonderful and included in the price. The full Scottish breakfast was fresh and hot as much as you wanted. If that was too much for you there was cereal, toast, croissants, cold meat, cheese and fruit. Our room was large, with a table and 2 armchairs and a large tv. A lovely bathroom. Will stay again when in the area.

Great location. Excellent food. Friendly and professional staff. Would return and recommend to friends. old style school with interesting features including an observatory. Only drawback was a 3pm check in.

Room was very comfy, the meal was delicious and breakfast was just what was needed ??? Staff were brilliant, but would have liked the meal to have been a bit earlier. Overall great value for money and enjoyed my stay, and would come back and stay again. ???????????
