My friend and I visited the hotel just for a spa day with lunch and two treatments included. We got parked really easily, and were provided with towels etc as soon as we arrived. We found the whole pool area quite cold, and the jacuzzi not as warm as we would've liked but the steam room and sauna were perfect. We were aware that there were refurbishments getting carried out on the leisure facilities which wasn't too distracting but may have been the cause of the cool air. We stood for five minut... This imposing hotel is the old school house in Stirling. Sitting just under the Castle and the old jail, it is accessed by a courtyard car park just after the hotel. The appears to be ample parking but it is also used by locals for the leisure facilities so can get busy. Reception is 3 or 4 steps up from ground level, with no handrail so not great for those with mobility problems. I do think, however, I saw a separate entrance for disabled access. Deep tartan carpet is laid around the area an... Read more

Literally halfway up the hill that is Spittal Street in Stirling the Highland Hotel is a really good location from which to explore Stirling. Located in an a converted former school the architecture of this hotel is full of character and it has plenty of amenities such as a swimming pool, squash courts and gym, a good bar and restaurant and an excellent breakfast. Plenty of car parking and with clean comfortable rooms. What more could you ask.

This hotel is great. Great location, tons of parking options, KING size bed and very affordable!! This is a large room and bathroom compared to most European standards. Check in was easy. They have a restaurant and a bar with two separate menus. Salads, sandwiches and more formal meals if you choose. Very friendly staff and the building its self is very pretty! Close to everything.

Came with my partner for the night. The hotel benefitted from the central location and was busy with tourists. Despite this, we were quickly checked into a spotlessly clean room. Later we had dinner which was first class, and the slow cooked beef is to die for. We had breakfast which looked OK but was cold and we did mention this to reception who advised the problem was the swinging doors to the kitchen(s) and was being addressed. We checked out effortlessly. The location was excellent, the ... Read more

We spent only one night here during a trip to Stirling and the highlands and loved it. The architecture and atmosphere in this former school building gives you such a sense of history when you stay there and we loved wandering around the old corridors and stairs exploring. The pool and spa area is lovely and a great way to spend a couple of hours relaxing before dinner. Can't comment on the evening meal as we chose to eat elsewhere at night but if the breakfast is anything to go by, then I'd b... Read more

Very conveniently located right next to all of the tourist destination in central Stirling. The family suite we had was lovely and had a separate room for our son which included his own TV and DVD player. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great. Prices for food and room service were reasonable and the wifi was free and relatively reliable. The spa and leisure facilities were great and open a lot longer than I would expect from most hotels. The pool was spacious and at a n... Read more

Just back from over night stay db&b.food was fantastic staff where all very pleasant and so helpful, leisure facilities were great as well ,parking at hotel was good . Only small gripe was having to pay an additional cost of £10.95. For a sirloin steak of main menu I felt was a bit dear . Food and service were extremely well done.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. The room was very pleasant, breakfast was delightful, staff was helpful and courteous. I had a nice swim after our castle tour. The location is very convenient to tour Stirling. I would definitely go back.

The hotel is steps from the fabulous castle in the historic old town of Stirling, and is itself historic, being a converted school. The hotel staff is excellent, the restaurant served food of a very high standard (especially the lamb dish), and the room we stayed in was also clean and comfortable. I have no real complaints, but the one thought was that the conversion from school to hotel had occurred a while ago, and had not achieved its full potential. After all, the basic structure, a histo... Read more

I've stayed at this hotel on more than one occasion and although the decor is a little outdated in parts, it never disappoints. The building has an interesting history & is located in the heart of Stirling. Plenty of parking too, although, if you are travelling on foot you should be aware that Stirling is a hilly place & this hotel is located near the top of a hill. Beds are extremely comfortable, food is great, staff are friendly & accommodating, and rooms include free wifi & an abundance of TV... Read more

Have just returned from a one night stay at the Stirling Highland Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was great and an added bonus was it was on the top floor so we had an excellent view right across Stirling. The reception, cleaning, leisure and MOST of the restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The dinner in the restaurant was lovely, couldn't fault the food at all however the waitress who greeted us upon our arrival into the restaurant was very glum and couldn't even raise a s... Read more

The hotel public areas are super and capture some of the history of the building. The bedroom (a premium room) are traditional and a tad dated in style and priced at highish end for what you get... They have a lot of rooms, but could benefit from further updating. Had breakfast which was fine, although think they could think about the buffet layout - not nearly big enough for the number of guests.
