My wife and I Celebrated our anniversary meal at the hotel and we weren't disappointed, from a pre dinner drink to the dessert wine, the food was scrumptious, the attention to detail was wonderful, my wife had the Cod with a lobster bisque and I had the Bavette steak, so tender and flavoursome with the peppercorn sauce, pea puree and lovely chipped potatoes, a good cheese board to finish with a glass of desert wine, great service by the staff, thank you for making our anniversary meal memorable

I recently ate lunch at Trevalsa Court with some colleagues. We had asked in advance if gluten free could be accommodated and I can honestly say this was one of the best lunches I've had that was gluten free. They provided gluten free sandwiches, a chicken salad and even two varieties of gluten free scones (all hand made). The bread was really soft and unlike so many other gluten free breads. It's also worth noting that the general spread of food provided for our table of 9 was plentiful and del... Read more

To be on the safe side I rang the hotel before I booked to make sure it was indeed dog friendly, they said they were so I happily booked. The night before my stay I rang to book a table for dinner only to be told that my dog was not allowed in the dining area. When I asked what I was supposed to do with my dog during breakfast I was told she could be caged, left in the car or shut in the bathroom. To be fair the hotel did say we could have our breakfast outside if the weather was nice - whoo... Read more

We two and our little dog we're delighted with our three day stay and had no problem with a dog friendly hotel asking residents to keep the dog safely locked away in bathroom or car during our meals, not all people are dog friendly, especially in eating places. We had a large sunny room overlooking the lovely garden and sea, we thought the breakfast and dinner were imaginative varied and delicious, though we might have liked less artistry and more vegetables! . The staff throughout were friend... Read more

Great location only a short walk to Mevagissey village. Our room was lovely and very spacious, breakfast whilst fairly basic had enough for everyone. The location makes this hotel (in my opinion). It's at the top of the hill on the way into Mevagissey (from St Austell) so avoids the need to negotiate the narrow village streets in a car. Additionally the hotel garden leads to the coastal path and the steps down to Polstreath beach. The are a number of different routes to walk to and from the vill... Read more

We were lucky to get a cancellation. It is a good hotel with reasonable sized rooms and a very good restaurant. The mussels were wonderful - enormous and very tasty. The staff were excellent and very attentive. The owner was manning the bar and was fun to talk to and recommended a very good wine. Altogether a very pleasant experience. I would highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Trevalsa Court for three nights for a special birthday. We had stayed at the hotel twice before and remembered it with great fondness. . The owners were away but staff were friendly and helpful. We had DBB and the food was very good, but service was slow. My main disappointment was the room. We were in no 7 - a nice size and good views but there were dabs of paint over the walls as if they were testing the colours . The blind on the main window wouldn't shut properly.... Read more

A great hotel with charming staff and a lovely view over the sea. The room was well appointed however the basin and bath tap handles were not great if you don't have good finger strength. If I was looking for a grumble I would say that the food was trying a little too hard - it wasn't bad but could have been better.

Warm welcome on arrival, Shown to our room (No 5) we found this room to be very hot, asked to move rooms... this was done very quickly and without any fuss (No 7) what a lovely room.... Lovely panoramic views over the bay... The hotel is a little way out of Mevagissey down a very steep hill...The food in the hotel is very good but a little expensive.... but you get what you pay for... The dining room can become crowded if the hotel is full....

We stayed just one night - a Saturday. The hotel is a fair hike uphill from the harbour area and is a bit of a challenge to find (it certainly was for my SatNav!). The location though is beautiful with lovely peaceful views from both the room and the back garden, of the coastline and the sea. We stayed in room 6 which is a medium sized room but with great views. The rooms are modern, clean and well decorated. The assorted display of pebbles and shells in the room were very attractive to an 18-mo... Read more

Absolutely a good escape and retreat from the bust season! Close to Eden project for a good walk. Back to the hotel room to have a panoramic view of the sea then walk to the town centre for dinners ! Absolutely enjoyed the weekend with my family.

Stayed here with the family for a short stay while we went to the Eden project. We were lucky to have three days of glorious sunshine. The room we had was fantastic and the building itself felt very relaxed while maintaining a feel of history. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Rooms clan and cheerful. If you are going to arrive late be aware the hotel resterant finishes 9. You need to walk the 10 minutes into town to the shark fin as it's the only thing open then. The best room is ... Read more

The best thing about this hotel is it's location on the cliff top with wonderful sea views, and the South West Coast Path at the end of the pretty garden. However our stay was marred by several things. Firstly our room (Room 5) is directly above the kitchen so had it's own powerful form of underfloor heating which in August was no joke. Even with the window open and the small fan provided on the room was uncomfortably hot and not conducive to a good night's sleep. Secondly the service was poor :... Read more

Sorry to hear moans about driving for 5.5 hours to get there, took me 10.75 and did I expect a free drink - no. Lovely hotel, great location, brilliant breakfast - yes people do drink the Orange juice but if you wait it does get re-filled. The breakfast is cooked to order so may take a little longer than re-heated stuff but is that a problem? I had a single room which was lovely with a sea view, can't comment about the one over the kitchen. All in all fantastic setting, brilliant helpful staff a... Read more

We had a lovely meal on a Saturday night in August, the service was good, and we left content. Two minor issues, my Rib Eye steak was a little over salted ( and I like salt :) ) and a fraction under cooked. Any where else and I would have posted a 5, but you will spend very nearly £100 for a meal for two with bottle of wine, not a problem for me, but at that price I would have expected a little more. So don't avoid the Trevalsa but I think they should shave a little off the price or up the... Read more

This is a small personally-run hotel with a small number of rooms. It is comfortable without the uniformity of a brand. The location is excellent: overlooking the sea, a private south-facing garden, right on the Costal Path, a short if steep walk to Mevagissy, a cove beach below (a long way below, you don't want to forget anything). The food is of an excellent standard. The staff are friendly and the proprietor welcoming. The occasional lack of training in the staff is charming rather than ... Read more

We visited for celebration meal while on holiday at Pentewan Sands, we were so pleased we chose this restaurant and enjoyed the food so much we went back 2 days later for an early birthday celebration. Made to feel at home even though we were only visiting and not staying in the hotel. Would highly recommend, and we hope to get back in spring for a weekend stay with friends

I recently paid a return visit before joining friends in Gorran Haven, and enjoyed the continuing warm welcome, the comfortable facilities, the excellent food and the beautiful garden. Everything was clean and functioned as it should. The sea views from the garden and my room were very relaxing. And I had kippers one morning: proper ones, not nasty yellow dyed things. And venison one evening. This is probably the finest dining to be had in Mevagissey, and it certainly worked for me.

Stopped off here to have tea on a sunny afternoon. We were offered a seat in the lounge with great views but took up the option to sit out on the terrace and soak up the truly amazing view. The garden is quite secluded because it is surrounded by hedging and trees, plenty of tables and chairs to take your pick from. The cream tea itself was excellent and more than enough for both of us. The hotel also does full afternoon tea. Whilst visiting we asked to look at one of the rooms and we hope ... Read more

Arrived very late on a Wednesday night. We asked for anything to eat and got offered sandwiches, two rounds of sandwiches and two packets of crisps £18. The room was adequate, but more what you would expect in a guest house or a B&B. Quite small. The breakfast view was great, sat outside with view over the sea. Breakfast was OK but could have been better, asked for boiled egg, and got a boiled egg. Not sure there is anything close to here. Price was as dear as some 5 star hostels would ask for.... Read more

Just stayed for the weekend as wanted to take my parents to Cornwall for the weekend. I had an awesome single room on the Ground floor which had its own door on to the gardens and stunning views of the sea. I was lolled to sleep the first night by the sea. We ate at the hotel both nights, food was excellent and imaginative. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Due to the hotels size- not too big it was snug, relaxed and not overly formal.
