Excellent value for money, rooms are a great size, hotel grounds are large and well maintained, breakfast had an excellent selection and the customer service was outstanding. It has a Spa that is new, well equipped and offers an immense amount of treatments. My only critics would be the rooms can be hot, although each does come with a desk fan, they still struggle and the bar food was basic and a little on the pricey side. However would I stay there again...yes I would as the room rates and faci... Read more

Have spent the past month here, on and off. We love it. I LOVE DEV!!!!! And please never ever ever take the piri chicken burger off the menu!! It's amazing! Reasons to stay here: 1. Dev 2. Chicken burgers/Andy 3. The reflexology by Robyn ū??ętrip 4. The scenery 5. Pool and spa area Also, don't bother trying to help Dev, as he won't, for health and safety reasons!! When I lost my husband, he managed to gather a search party within minutes! If he ever leaves, I am starting a petition on change.o... Read more

A much needed relaxing spa break. The hotel has recently had a refurb, very tasteful and tranquil. Perfect venue for weddings. My friend and I booked in on a package deal which included a fabulous afternoon tea with dinky little cream cakes, sandwiches, scone, jam and cream and a pot of tea each. Presentation was amazing. After mooching around and exploring the grounds, lake and woodland we had two lovely treatments in the spa - scalp massage and foot massage. The therapists were very attent... Read more

Needed hotel convenient for Shrewsbury and also for fishing on River Severn. Perfect, Bus stop on main road so did not need car. Room was in Stable Block, (could be named better). Lovely big room, spotless sheets, good supply of tea, coffee facilities. Bathroom very large and clean, beautiful wardrobe with sliding mirrored doors, surprising how many hotels don't think about this.

The hotel is magnificent, and the rooms are clean and comfortable, the bathrooms too have large soft towels, but the shower was not a shower, but a dribble. The rest of the plumbing also needs updating. I got a fair deal on the room rate, but watch those food and drink bills in the bar, they really shoot up for very little !

The old manor hotel is tastefully integrated into the new buildings. There is a wonderful oak panelled drawing room overlooking the lake and very nice bar and dining rooms. We had room 20 in the original building, it was at the very top of hotel, (no good if you have mobility issues as you have to climb up the original rather grand wooden staircase that is a little uneven). Room 20 had fabulous exposed beams with triple aspect and tastefully decorated with all facilities you expect. Very sp... Read more

very nice hotel and bar, booked late but was easy to check in. hotel grounds are lovely and rooms are set out nice, with all the little extras. the only down side was the heat in the rooms, I had to ask to move to another room, hotel staff are aware of this, as the mentioned that the rooms are very hot, staying in the room would have made it impossible to sleep. second room was better as it had 2 windows that opened fully. great staff cant fault them, just the heat in rooms spoilt it, and it w... We stayed at the Albrighton for a week at the end of May. I have to admit when we first entered the Lakeside annexe where our room was located I was a bit worried as it is definitely due for new carpet and a general refurb, as was our room, which also needs new carpet and the curtains are a bit worn. That being said we loved the room, we had a Priviledge room which was a large room with enormous bathroom, really comfortable King size bed, double aspect windows overlooking the ornamental lake, wh... Stayed for one night for business. Good to have a pool (although it is very small), sauna and steam room to chill out. Had evening meal as well as breakfast and food was very good. Clean, well kept and in very nice surroundings. Quite busy whilst I was here and looks a popular venue for various stays.

This was a splash out for me, a spa treat and was a bit disappointing. The steam room didn't work, and locals said rarely did, the sauna was not very hot for some reason, the pool had kids jumping in from all directions and not that big, so hard to swim. Room was lovely as are the gardens. FOod quite good. Staff friendly but hard to get their attention! Probably good for a hotel, not so great for a spa.

My wife and I stayed here recently for a short 2 day break and were pleased with the location which was just 10 minutes drive from Shrewsbury. We booked a superior double room on a B&B basis. After checking in we were disappointed to find that we had been allocated a room which was designed for the 'disabled'. We mentioned this to the receptionist but as the hotel was fully booked they could do nothing about it. Whilst the room was a good size and comfortable it was a little difficult when using... On business in the Shrewsbury area and after a week of busy city centre hotels I needed something away from the noise and the rat race, arrived at the hotel and first impression as you drive along the driveway is "private country retreat" parked the car and just stood and watched the water fountain in the pond and the ducks messing about, a few guests sitting out enjoying the sun and having a wine or two, red carpet gives the entrance to reception away, no front desk like most hotels just two ta... We stayed at this hotel for four days with a coach company. During that time we had no hot water in our room, for three days, which I was surprised about as usually Mercure hotels are the best! The service in the restaurant was excellent but the food very mediocre. Our room maid was excellent and looked after us very well. Altogether a very disappointing stay.

Stayed overnight last week and was pleasantly surprised with this place. OK, so there was a fire alarm upon arrival and everyone was outside in the car park. But the royal welcome added to the charm and the room upgrade much appreciated for the slight inconvenience. We were early for check in but were able to use the facilities and I must say that we enjoyed the spa. It seemed a new addition, and well used, and the pool, jacuzzi and steam room helped us settle into a relaxed mood from the ou... Read more

The hotel is set in lovely grounds and the room we had was spacious, clean and well maintained. The Spa facilities were also good but watch out for baby classes when they cut off half the pool and sing nursery rhymes, cute but not relaxing when you are trying to escape! Staff were also very friendly and helpful - would visit again....

I stayed here for 2 nights as I was attending a wedding just up the road, the hotel building and grounds are very impressive! Staff were friendly and helpful, the only issues really are with the rooms, the one i stayed in really needed a little refurbishment. The carpets seemed really old, bathroom needs re-grouting, shower was spraying water in every direction, ridiculous amount of cobwebs around the windows. If things like that don't bother you, I'm sure you'll love it, but I wasn't really imp... Read more

Stayed here for one night after visiting Chester zoo. Room was nice with clean bathroom and shower. But nights sleep was constantly disturbed due to a wedding reception which seemed to happening outside our window. Had to call reception at 1:30am to complain. Then upon leaving we wasn't even asked how our stay was! Wasn't happy at all!

How nice to stay in a hotel with windows in the bedrooms that actually open, albeit only a bit for safety‚??s sake. I was in room 2 which was spacious and had a four poster bed. Below the TV (which I did not try) there was a cupboard containing an unfilled fridge and a kettle and crockery with various teas including herb teas. There was a pencil and writing material and lots of sockets to charge your devices from. The wi-fi took a bit of patients to set up but worked acceptably after I got it go... Read more

We have just had the most wonderful family wedding at this hotel (60-70 guests), a listed building set in the most beautiful and extensive grounds. We were blessed with excellent weather which showed it at its best. This hotel has been set up to accommodate only ONE wedding party per day, which is a huge advantage. We were not crowded out by strangers. The reception staff were charming, efficient, knowledgeable and helpful, and one felt immediately that this was a very well set-up venue. ... Read more

Stayed here with my boyfriend for 1 night in May. Check in was quick and our room which was located in the stable block was large and very clean. We used the spa facilities on the Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, we found these very good although both of the experience showers in the thermal suite were broken which was a shame. Also meant that people weren't showering after using the saunas and entering the pool. We took a particular liking to the funky spa loungers!! We had a lovely bar m... Read more

This is a good solid bet if you want something predictable. Facilities are clean and tasteful. The old house is quite lovely and the gardens well kept. The staff were friendly and attentive. It did not feel as personal as some of the smaller hotels that are not associated with a chain, but one could hardly fault this accommodation for that alone.

The gardens surrounding the hotel are beautiful and have probably featured in many a wedding photo - very special. The approach and exterior of the hotel, create a feeling of luxury and grandeur. However i did not really feel it lived up to this and was left a bit disappointed by the end of our stay and felt the costs were far too high for the actual experience.

Stayed as part of a coach party. Our room was lovely and spacious but was on the 2nd floor and too hot despite opening windows and a fan (over 35 degrees one night). There was difficulty finding some rooms because of non-existent signing. The gardens were beautiful as was the main hotel but it was a good job that it was fine for our 5 night stay as you appeared to have to go outside to get from the majority of the rooms to the dining room, bar etc. The evening meals all had to be prebooked a...
