While visiting family we stayed here. Situated in a business park on the outskirts of Shrewsbury it is certainly not glamorous but is very comfortable and convenient. Standard Holiday Inn Express fare, comfortable beds, clean rooms and very helpful staff. We have used this chain on many occasions in the past and this hotel is standard for the chain. Breakfast is basic but sufficient. Goodness knows where this hotel chain sources their scrambled egg mix ! It is pretty indescribable. It is mu... Read more

On arrival, we had problems getting through the barrier. On entering the reception it was an ok welcome. Was given the key and told where to find our room. Made our way upstairs, but key card did not work. Send hubby back to change it, he returns still does not work! So off he goes again, third time lucky. After spending the day in Shrewsbury we returned to the hotel. Worse nights sleep I have had! The fans kicked in from downstairs, constant humming, bed was uncomfortable, and too hot but could... This was a late booking for an overnight stay whilst visiting various Shropshire National Trust and English Heritage houses. A very pleasant greeting, a spotlessly clean room, a very good night's sleep with no noise and then a decent breakfast with more choice than I get at home! Excellent value for money!!

We stayed here for a long weekend and was not disappointed. The room we had was large and comfortable. The hotel is a couple of miles out of the town centre but the taxi fare was £4.50 so reasonable. Breakfast was ok but on the Sunday morning they seemed to be struggling because of the amount of customers. Breakfast was included in the price. Would use this hotel again when in the area.

Large, welcoming, clean with friendly staff. Typical Hilton hotel. Just what you would expect. Had no problem getting through barrier at any time of our stay. Booking in and check out were quick. Only gripes were 1) mirrors in bedroom. The one above the dressing table was so high up the wall that my wife had to stand up to do make-up, dry hair etc and the full length mirror was very peculiar. It made you look squat and baggy and reduced me from 6foot to about 4-6". Second gripe was the disabled ... Read more

Stayed for two nights in June. Had a great welcome by the reception staff. Our room (103) was up to the usual Holiday Inn Express standard, comfortable bed, excellent bathroom, tv etc. We decided to have our evening meals at the hotel rather than drive into Shrewsbury. Although the choice of dishes was limited, the food was excellent ( we had lasagne). Quite a number of other guests were eating there as well. The food prices were competitive and the bar prices were as you would expect in a hotel... Read more

Pleasant stay in a clean room. Staff were very professional and attentive. Just noticed someone moaning about a fire evacuation in the early hours so they must have been staying the same night as me. My view is better safe than sorry and it was no fault of the staff or the hotel. They acted promptly and efficiently and had the safety of residents at heart. Would return here.

Stayed for two nights, room facing the car park was quiet and comfortable. Evening meals were expensive for the portions you got and the menu quite limited. The WiFi was very slow and unusable for even limited business use. Smoking immediately outside the entrance of the hotel meant that arriving and leaving you had to walk through a smoke cloud

I'm sitting here in my room in which the AC does not work, the TV does not work and the WIFI is slow! Other than these points it's all great at this hotel! On the plus side it's clean, cheap and friendly!

My wife and I stayed here in June 2016 during the weekend of the Shrewsbury food festival. The hotel is close to the A5 and in a quiet location during the weekend. However, it is a little out of town, and due to the festival, there were delays of 3 hours to get taxis both directions. Other than this, the service was good, we had early check in and the hotel is recommended. Just get up early for breakfast- there wasn't much left!

First time here and I was really impressed to me it's all about the people and straight away you get the impression they really care, a great greeting, a nice room, clean and well appointed and importantly in a quiet position so a great nights sleep. Free parking helps in a secure car park no rip off hidden charges here. Wifi was free and good able to play boom beach with no intruptions. As always in holiday inn express breakfast was free and good. No complaints at all and you can tell the s... Read more

We had a family room for one night. Very clean, very quiet. Excellent value for money. Friendly staff. Breakfast was a bit 'meh', coffee wasn't good and some things had run out with more than an hour to go but at this price, no complaints.

For the money you cant go wrong, the staff here were excellent, room was very clean and tidy . A good budget hotel, dont expect massive menus or grand breakfasts, this is a basic clean comfortable hotel. There are a few pubs within walking distance to cater for your drinking and eating needs.

This was an overnight stay to attend a wedding. Check in was efficient. The room was probably one of the best I've stayed in at a budget hotel: spacious, very clean and with everything needed. It's in a quiet location, although very handy for road network. The bathroom was also larger than you'd expect and the shower was very powerful and even had a seat to make feet washing easier, although it did feel a little slippy once wet. A buffet breakfast which offered a wide variety of choice was inclu... Read more

We stayed here recently as I had a job interview the following morning. The room was clean/tidy and had all the amenities we required. I have previously stayed in another competitor and find that their beds are outstanding - I was disappointed with the quality of the bed in the Holiday Inn as I expected they would be of a similar standard. We attended for breakfast - sausages were excellent however, I suspect that the scrambled eggs were powdered and not very tasty. The rest of the breakfast... Read more

Great Location with the A5 on the door step Got a decent price through IHG But It's an express, so don't expect anything flashy. It's a cheap decent hotel which is clean. Ideal for touring the area off the A5 I expect we will be back.

Our room was spacious and clean with efficient air con. However, our experience at breakfast was not so good. All the food items were running out and no one seemed to be keeping an eye on this so a wait for different components was needed. One woman was walking around with her plate of scrambled eggs for some time waiting for baked beans to come out. Cutlery and bread were also running out and there were a lot of dirty tables that had not been cleared.

Rang on Saturday 30th July to cancel our booking for Monday 1st August which I know was short notice but my father in law was dying.I understand the booking said no cancellation refund available but under the circumstances I thought they may be lenient and refund some of our money. However despite the fact my father in law died on Tuesday 2nd August they still wouldn't agree to any refund.Obviously there is no compassion in the management there so would never book there again.

We have stayed at a few hotels in this chain and this one fits the standard. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower. The location is slightly out of town and the area is very quiet with no other facilities. Continental breakfast was good and varied (I rarely eat a cooked breakfast so can't comment) with free newspapers also available One downside is the lack of separate boiling water for tea. I shall keep saying this till someone listens. If the hot water for tea c... Read more

We spent one night here on our way North. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, offering to direct us to local pubs or restaurants for our evening meal. Our room was fine, large and with a big bathroom that was also disabled accessible although we did not need that. Everything was clean and the bed comfortable. As the hotel is located on a business park it was pretty quiet at night. Breakfast was fine - all self service but enough for our needs. All in all a good experience and we would ... Read more

I stayed overnight on business and found the room very comfortable. However, the air con did not work but being a cool evening it really as not a problem. I mentioned the air con to the lady on reception and I was told that an engineer had condemned one of the units and it was going to cost too much to repair. When you start to look around you can see dirty carpets and scuffed walls. It also appeared other quests has some issues as the staff were always going of to someone's room. The locati... Read more

I stayed in Shrewsbury for business, arrived fairly late at the Holiday inn Express booked two rooms for one night. We were greeted instantly on arrival, promptly checked in and informed about the restaurant serving food until 10. This was perfect because we were both very tired. Ate in the evening and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast the following day. The hotel was very tidy, clean, basic and all that I expected. Special mention to the friendly staff and would recommend for the brilliant cu... Read more

I admit to being a bit of a snob when it comes to staying in Hotels, well specifically if I'm on holiday, however this 1 night stopover was about convenience to the Crematorium so obviously didn't require the same consideration. I found the staff both when I telephoned to enquire and in person on our arrival to be friendly and helpful. One pre-requisite was that the Hotel allowed dogs and in fact not only does it welcome them but because mine is in training to be a service dog they waived the c... Read more

Have used Holiday inn Express lots of time so when I wanted to visit Shropshire I would book Holiday Inn this was a bad mistake, I had read the review of this hotel on trip adviser but thought they may have made some improvements how wrong I was. To start with the breakfast pastry's were hard or over cooked, the fruit juice was very weak and sometimes you had to wait for the staff to bring out more hot food from the kitchen as they hadn't cooked enough. I think my comments are very similar to others and are a repeat of those I left last year when I stayed previously - my room was a very good size and really comfortable, the shower was excellent as were the toiletries and quality of the towels. However, if Holiday Inn Express are setting themselves in a price bracket above Premier Inn / Travelodge why don't they provide a decent breakfast? It would take minimal effort to provide a wider variety of items of a better quality and for guests to be ... Read more

We had a drink on our return from dinner and the young lady again was very chatty and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and as soon as anything ran out it was replaced immediately. We have used this hotel before, but this time the staff are better and the facilities in much better order. The stall on this visit were very good particularly "Mario" - who was friendly and attentive to detail to ensure all facilities and the serving of dinner/ breakfast was far above satisfactory standard. He also successfully encouraged/ guided other staff to assist him.
