Enjoyed both stays, only an overnight on each occasion but an earlier arrival on the second occasion allowed the chance to sit in warm sunshine outside overlooking the lawns and lake. Breakfasts are good, when busy there are occasions when items run short but they are always replenished quickly. Had a burger from the bar menu, again quality and well presented at a reasonable price. What makes the Kenwood is the staff, everyone we met were friendly and tried to make our stays enjoyable. Really lovely hotel with good service and nice facilities. The gardens are tranquil and beautiful - and is an oasis of calm - bearing in mind the hotel is situated in the centre of Sheffield. If you like to stay in an independent hotel with character, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Returning home early from a disappointing caravan holiday, decided to check on the internet for a stopover en-route. Found a sister hotel to Eastwood Hall (PH hotel group), the Kenwood Hall in Sheffield. Booked for 2 nights via the phone with Central Bookings, service and assistance from Karen 300 %, this young lady must be one of the best assets the company has not only a credit to PH Hotels, but to British tourism in general. Arrived at Kenwood Hall and was overwhelmed with the ambiance in the ... Read more

Large hotel with comfortable but unexceptional rooms. Grounds very pretty with lake. Breakfast average, though you could squeeze your own orange juice. Dinner was good, plaice perfectly grilled. The pool is fine for a splash but not really built to allow decent exercise.

Stayed in executive room which was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is quite large and offers everything including weddings. The food is good and cocktails worth trying. Breakfast was varied but felt that the hotel would benefit from actual service of breakfast rather than buffet style. Also why does there have to be constant music, slightly annoying. Reception staff brilliant as the reservations had made another mistake. This is a lovely stay but the reservations is a complete let down... Read more

This hotel was brilliant! The breakfast was amazing and the views to the lake were stunning. After breakfast a ramble around the large grounds was breathtaking. The only problem was the size of the pool. It was a bit too small for the size of the hotel. Over all it was a super stay.

This is a nice, comfortable hotel in a good, central location but let down by the following: - disabled access. I was in crutches / in wheelchair. There were lifts behind heavy doors which needed opening for me meaning independent movement was impossible. I had to hobble out of the restaurant to see the specials board after waitress told me there was no board in the actual restaurant. The paths through the grounds are uneven and therefore largely inaccessible. - swimming pool. Small, kidney ... Read more

Great value hotel in a lovely woodland setting with good food and really close to the city centre. Also dog friendly which is often quite difficult to find these days. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was really nice and not overly priced. Would certainly recommend this place if you fancy a couple of days in South Yorkshire. Close to all the local amenities with Meadowhall Shopping centre just a couple of miles away. Would also recommend a visit to Kelham Island Heritage ... Read more

The first issue with our stay here over the weekend of 11th June 2016 for a wedding at an event nearby, was the booking process. This hotel is now part of the Principal Hayley group and so I initially visited their website in order to check availability for a family of four, staying in one room. The website showed that there was no availability for this combination of guests in a single room, for a single night. I had tried to book this hotel before and was told, when I contacted central reser... Read more

Stayed here one night. £15 for two drinks at a bar furnished with chairs from the 1950's but less comfortable was not a good start. The bar area for this 4* hotel was cold and uninviting. The room was ok but the fittings look tired, eg fridge clearly torn out of room and left as an empty cupboard. The mattress was too short and I'm only 5'9"! It was uncomfortable. I just thought that the £200 bill...yes £200 was miles above the value. The premier inn in town at a fraction of the price has a ... Read more

I stayed with my fiancé and daughter and although the setting is beautiful the room and facilities could do with a little work. Firstly the taps in the bathroom work but are broken, the toilet took 4 attempts to flush each time used, the paintwork throughout the accommodation is marked, chipped and stained which just gives it a grotty feel. The pool area is dated however lovely and warm, shower was broken. We booked a room for 2 adults and a 4 year old and ended up with 2 single beds, usually... Read more

Our friends were staying here for the weekend so we joined them on Sunday evening for a meal. The location of the restaurant is lovely overlooking the lake the decor of the dining room is sparse more like a cafe and the chairs are vinyl seats so not very comfortable. A comfortable and spacious hotel with good facilities. The Restaurant offers a sufficient variety to have a choice and is food is presented well. The only negative for me which is normal when travelling alone on business is that service is a little slow in the Restaurant, and just want to have dinner and retire to room. You might want to take some long distance glasses too if you want to watch tv in bed.

The public areas of the hotel are lovely, however our room and in particular the bathroom was tired and in need of refurbishment. Stayed here all week and it's ok, the breakfast is a bit rubbish but I can live with that. However when the fire alarm goes off 5 times between 3am and 5am I expect at least an apology and maybe a token compensation like a free brekkie - they could not have cared less! Appalling attitude. This hotel is in a lovely suburb of Sheffield and the grounds are full of mature trees. Some rooms have lovely views of the tree tops due to the site slope. The hotel was full because of two weddings. At breakfast the waiter seating people though clearly working hard, shouted whether the people they were seating wanted tea or coffee. That showed a lack of training for a four star hotel. The breakfast buffet was broad with porridge usual fry up and lovely hot croissants.

I think most reviews of this hotel have it spot on. Great staff, nice gardens, but faded glory. It is well located just a fiver away from the city and or/bars and restaurants. Use City cabs if you need to travel as they text you when the car is on the way and what car it is-so helpful. Breakfast seems to have a published price of £14.95, but can be bought for £10 which is still the high side for what it is. Peroni at £5.10 a pint is steep.
