Enjoyed both stays, only an overnight on each occasion but an earlier arrival on the second occasion allowed the chance to sit in warm sunshine outside overlooking the lawns and lake. Breakfasts are good, when busy there are occasions when items run short but they are always replenished quickly. Had a burger from the bar menu, again quality and well presented at a reasonable price. What makes the Kenwood is the staff, everyone we met were friendly and tried to make our stays enjoyable. Really lovely hotel with good service and nice facilities. The gardens are tranquil and beautiful - and is an oasis of calm - bearing in mind the hotel is situated in the centre of Sheffield. If you like to stay in an independent hotel with character, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Returning home early from a disappointing caravan holiday, decided to check on the internet for a stopover en-route. Found a sister hotel to Eastwood Hall (PH hotel group), the Kenwood Hall in Sheffield. Booked for 2 nights via the phone with Central Bookings, service and assistance from Karen 300 %, this young lady must be one of the best assets the company has not only a credit to PH Hotels, but to British tourism in general. Large hotel with comfortable but unexceptional rooms. Grounds very pretty with lake. Breakfast average, though you could squeeze your own orange juice. Dinner was good, plaice perfectly grilled. The pool is fine for a splash but not really built to allow decent exercise.

Stayed in executive room which was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is quite large and offers everything including weddings. The food is good and cocktails worth trying. Breakfast was varied but felt that the hotel would benefit from actual service of breakfast rather than buffet style. Also why does there have to be constant music, slightly annoying. Reception staff brilliant as the reservations had made another mistake. This is a lovely stay but the reservations is a complete let down... Read more

This is a nice, comfortable hotel in a good, central location but let down by the following: - disabled access. I was in crutches / in wheelchair. There were lifts behind heavy doors which needed opening for me meaning independent movement was impossible. I had to hobble out of the restaurant to see the specials board after waitress told me there was no board in the actual restaurant. The paths through the grounds are uneven and therefore largely inaccessible. - swimming pool. Small, kidney ... Read more

Great value hotel in a lovely woodland setting with good food and really close to the city centre. Also dog friendly which is often quite difficult to find these days. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was really nice and not overly priced. Would certainly recommend this place if you fancy a couple of days in South Yorkshire. The first issue with our stay here over the weekend of 11th June 2016 for a wedding at an event nearby, was the booking process. This hotel is now part of the Principal Hayley group and so I initially visited their website in order to check availability for a family of four, staying in one room. The room was ok but the fittings look tired, eg fridge clearly torn out of room and left as an empty cupboard. The mattress was too short and I'm only 5'9"! It was uncomfortable. Use City cabs if you need to travel as they text you when the car is on the way and what car it is-so helpful. Breakfast seems to have a published price of £14.95, but can be bought for £10 which is still the high side for what it is. Peroni at £5.10 a pint is steep. The place is just a bit tired! The rooms are old and dated and they need modernising. It was probably a nice place when it was originally converted into a hotel. I would stay at a budget hotel in the city. You know what you are going to get!

Reserved a room. Went to book in and they had mixed up dates so no room reserved. Then offered attic room for £140. Had to walk through someones wedding reception to get to our room. Room was tiny and mouldy.

We stayed here to visit the Peak District. It's a typical 4 star hotel . Staff is nice and friendly . But the whole service is not great really . I asked for my bedside lamp to be changed as its not working , never happened . We also asked some batteries for the tv changer, never turned up, we went up to the reception after half hour . Later on realised its not the batteries , the remote is my working . Couldn't be bothered the phone up and tell as we knew it wasn't going to happen.. The area... Read more

Where do I start booked online for a deluxe room with breakfast only charged us for 3 rooms and two upgrades took over a week to refund the £480! Arrived no way of an apology and then still charged us the £8 for room upgrade!! Room was shabby and the bathroom was a disgrace ordered breakfast to the room and again over charged!! Would not recommend at all. Such a shame with such beautiful surroundings the four poster bed was in a terrible state with screws on show see the pic. The bath was scr... Read more

I stayed here for business purposes, the rooms are very spacious and have all the amenities you would need. Comfortable bed gave me a great nights sleep. The bathroom is big, with a great pressure shower and toiletries are provided. We had a meeting room booked, all presentation equipment was provided and refreshments throughout the day. Lunch wasn't great. It was annoying the floor above us had works going on, sounded like they were putting a carpet down, constant banging and drilling in the mo... Read more

The hotel is a bit tired and the bed was bad. When my partner or I moved the bed bounced so much it woke the other up. This hotel needs new higher quality beds as surely the whole point of a hotel is to provide a good nights sleep.

Went for a two night break. We got there after 4pm on a Saturday afternoon after spending an hour driving around looking for it! Directed to a room in the 600's. After climbing three flights of stairs after corridor after corridor that never ended. Got in room it was large but bed looked old and saggy. Pillows had no stuffing, bedding just looked old and used. Whole room was just old, even cover for bed was faded.Miles from reception. Sink had hairs in. There was no information leaflet and the... Just spent two nights at Kenwood Hall. While it had a lovely terrace and views across the lake. This was not a pleasant experience. The room was dark and smelt of stale smoke. It was not clean, I had to clean the wash basin before I could use it. On the second day the dirty coffee cups were still just left there with no clean ones. I had to go to the housekeeping room and ask for more. The first night I ate in the bar area, the tables were sticky and when the meal arrived the lettuce was covere... Read more

Sort yourselves out kenwood hotel this was my worst stay I've ever had there in over 15 years my relaxing 2 day break wasn't good, you messed up and it's no good going into detail about it is as your staff do not want to listen to complaints that was very clear to see and I see from previous trip advisor reviews no one gets a response from you ....you will lose customers

We found the room really nice and clean and had a lovely view of the grounds. We thought the beds and pillows were very comfortable. There were lots of complimentary goodies in the bathroom. Had both dinner and breakfast and the food was excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

We stayed for a weekend, visiting Sheffield to celebrate a family member's Birthday. The main building was attractive, but interior pretty shabby and outdated. There is a very unattractive extension. The traditional gardens were really lovely and well-maintained, apart from the paths. Bar food was very good. I felt that overall, the tariff was very high- particularly for Sheffield (£120 per room per night, including breakfast).

The checking in and out was seamless and the reception staff excellent. I would have given a higher mark but there were several bits and pieces that weren't right. The fridge didn't work and we were taking wine to friends so wanted to chill it. The bottled water wasn't replaced for our second night and the room generally looked a bit tired. However huge comfy bed, completely private balcony over looking the lake and great room service. Wouldn't take much to make everyones stay memorble.
