Stayed here for one night only. Friendly greeting and shown around hotel. Large rooms downstairs and comfortable chairs etc. Small bar for anyone wishing to have a drink. Bedroom was adequate but bed very low and mattress was not too supportive. Did not like to use the shower as tray could have done with a clean. Possibly just tired shower tray. Breakfast was ok. Car parking was quite 'tight' pleased the parking area was not full.

had a fantastic time room 11 was lovely and bright lots of space and quiet had a nice time and all staff friendly loved their dad very funny and talkative x lots of places to visit nearby the village was only a short walk away which was very quaint only thing was that we went out of season and found that even though the sites said they were open when we went they were closed not a great problem as I called ahead and checked to see if they were open before heading off.

A hotel that offers budget rooms, conveniently located near Shanklin town centre, this place offers warm comfortable rooms, plenty of hot water (essential after a long walk) Wi-Fi that actually works, & great breakfasts. We have visited this hotel on several occasions before & it never disappoints. The Hotel doesn't serve dinners, but Shanklin offers varied restaurants & pubs for your evenings. We will be back!!

we were welcomed by the staff who showed us round the hotel and helped us to our room with our luggage. The room was very nice, modern and clean. It looked as though it had recently been decorated. we had free wifi. the hotel is located a short distance from Shanklin town. we found this a good base for our trip. I was impressed with the room we were given. it was very good value for money. we would recommend this hotel

From the moment we arrived we were made extremely welcome. We were travelling on cycles and the owners allowed us to store these overnight in the laundry room where they were safe and dry. She made our stay very comfortable and couldn't have done more to help. Great breakfast and free wifi.

Nice clean room, friendly woman on reception,a decent,if small bathroom, comfortable bed, soft pillows and a very pleasant garden at the front.Only a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Shanklin old village and 10 minutes to the main town of Shanklin.I was on a room only deal so never had the breakfast but a fellow guest told me it was outstanding, and only £5.The room itself was only £35 a night-in July.An absolute bargain. If you want a good budget option then look no further.

A group of friends travelled to the Isle Of Wight for a long weekend in our classic cars. Somerton lodge offers secure private parking which is a must for us. We had a lovely welcome from Mike and Agnes and the hotel was clean and comfortable. Any requests were granted and nothing was too much trouble.

3 x Adults took a long weekend at the Jack up the 80's music festival & wanted a Hotel nearby to stay. We found the Somerton Lodge Hotel in Shanklin. A wonderful location, a few minutes walk from the old town, a very clean hotel. Agnes was very helpful in everything requested of her, breakfasts were excellent and the beds were very comfortable. Stayed for one night here, following a stay elsewhere. Our greeting on arrival was pleasant and informative and the room on first glance was adequate. However, whilst using the loo, I was glancing around as you do and I noticed a big blob of blue shaving foam and what looked like dried bogies (maybe not, but not pleasant nonetheless) under the sink bowl. Following that, there were empty wrappers under the beds, a few hairs in the shower and grubby cups. We are not obsessive over cleanliness, ... Read more

I spent two nights at this small Victorian house hotel which is a comfortable 5 minute walk from central Shanklin & many restaurants. I could leave my car in the rear car park and enjoy a beer with my dinner in town. The downstairs double room was clean & comfortable. It had an en-suite shower room, tea making facilities and a modern flat screen TV on a bracket on the wall. So there was no need to watch the football on the large screen TV in the hotel lounge, where there is a small bar. It was a... Read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at Somerton Lodge. The breakfast was excellent - we both had the vegetarian option - and there was plenty of it. Our room was comfortable and quiet and all the furnishings were modern and attractive. We would definitely return any time! Somerton Lodge is a hotel for adults only.

Stayed 2 nights here and the room was good. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The hosts were pleasant and very helpful. Good location close to the old village and restaurants. Only one niggle - no hooks in the rooms for coats and towel drying.

Stopped off here for a night on the island and really couldn't fault it. Clean and friendly, very well priced and a handy location for exploring. I imagine the parking can be a bit tricky at busy times, but we had no issues, and the breakfast was more than ample, particularly if you made your way through the "courses" on the menu!

I have just returned from a two day break, in Shanklin, Isle of Wight. I stayed at the Somerton Lodge Hotel, which was very clean, very good value and had the most attentive management and staff. This hotel is central and it's very easy to reach all parts of Shanklin, the bus stops right outside. I liked it so much, I think that I'll go back next year!

Nice hotel in ideal location, walking distance from centre. Off road parking. Comfortable modern rooms with big TV and en suite. Standard but tasty breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Have stayed her more than once and consistently satisfied with my stay. Off season some good deals and certainly worth every penny. Definitely recommend.

I stayed from Sunday evening to Wednesday morning and would quite happily still be there. Indeed if it wasn't for the fact that I was missing the dog, I probably would be. The first thing that impressed was the warmth of greeting accompanied by helpful suggestions about where to eat. The standard of decoration particularly in the public areas is superb and a wonderful advertisement for owner Mike's other life as a house restorer. The bar, dining room and tv lounge (don't worry, you've got one ... Read more
