No lift to bedroom Very noisy overlooking main road/ traffic lights. Stayed two nights no replenishment of toiletries poor selection of tea & coffee in room. Very disappointed overall and expensive £9.50 for glass of red wine! You have to step into bath for a shower not good if elderly or frail/disabled as no hand rails. Breakfast excellent though with friendly and helpful staff.

We stayed last February and enjoyed the excellent location, close to the Cathedral and shops. There was a relaxed feel about the place and a nice open fire in the reception area made it comfortable to lounge about in after our day sightseeing. The only downside was that some of the decor was a bit tired (landing and room). We had an evening meal on one night which we enjoyed. Despite the menu being rather uninteresting looking the quality and presentation of the meal was good as was the service.... Read more

Venue was well presented for a celebration lunch in a private room, The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and made an effort to prepare the outside seating on the first sunny, warm, day of spring! A surprise touch was the "congratulations" dessert. The food was nicely served, well cooked and tasty. The effort we made in pre-planning with your staff was well worth it.

I have stayed at three of the "main" hotels in Salisbury centre and the White Hart wins hands down. The biggest advantage to the White Hart is off street parking at the hotel. I have found, even with rooms looking onto the main street, not having any issue with noise and thought the room quite fine for what I paid and the toilet facilities good. The wifi was strong and had good throughput. There are no lifts at this hotel and that could be an issue for some for the staircase can be a challenge a... Read more

Upon arrival we were able to park the car easily in the hotel car park (although this is not free!). The welcome was friendly. The room was lovely although the bathroom would benefit from a refurbishment and some of the furniture was looking tired. The one problem with the room was that it was so hot! We did try to turn down the heating but without success. The bar area was lovely and was manned by the wonderful Tim who could not do enough to help. He even knocked up a late supper for us o... Booked a room for my husband's birthday as we wanted to go away for the weekend and spend some time together. The overall experience wasn't great. The room on the second floor overlooking the main road was extremely hot, dark and noisy so we didn't sleep very well. There was no complimentary water in the room (minibar empty) - we were charged £5 at the bar for 2 bottles of still water!!! Salisbury - yes, Mercure White Hart Hotel - definitely no.

Having booked a prestige room for a special couple of days away we were very disappointed to be shown to a very small room with an ordinary double bed. The manager was very helpful as were all the staff, but as the hotel was full there was nothing that could be done. A nice free bottle of wine with dinner helped to ease the disappointment and the next day we were moved into the type of room we had expected with lots of space and a super king bed. The hotel is very conveniently placed in the city... Read more

Bar man Worked very hard, but as the bar area got busy during the evening he needed help as service became very slow. Good thing there was a bar opposite the hotel where we could frequent during the busy period. (Although this lost the hotel bar money, as a number of other residents where also there for the same reason). Reception, cleaners breakfast staff and 1 bar man excellent hard workers. Will be back. Please send details of offers and hotels within your chain.

We arrived at the hotel at 9.15pm, the staff were wonderful. And managed to a meal for us all, which was lovely. Rachel was the receptionist who coulden't be more helpful. Lovely girl. The room was lovely and warm, we coulden't open a window though, but overall we all enjoyed our one night stay immensely.

Booked our room on line to get favourable rates. We then spoke to hotel staff requesting for a room that we had stayed in November 2015, who were only too pleased to accommodate our request. Jonathan at the FO recognised us since our last visit and as always was very helpful and ensured we had a good stay. We will definitely visit Salisbury again and stay at this very friendly hotel

This is a dated hotel but with charming areas like restaurant or secret garden, the bathroom is quite small, but it was good for us. It is close to the marvellous cathedral and the city center. There is a rear cark park (7GBP) This hotel has two floors but it has not lift, we went for a very good offer because the normal price is very high. Good free wifi and fresh fruit at the reception. The staff is nice too.

After a long journey from Paris, we splurged booked the Privilege Room with extras. This included a 3 course dinner and breakfast. We arrived at 8:00pm at night wit our 1 year old son and it was no trouble for the staff to serve us dinner at this time. The hotel is lovely and has been nicely refurbished. The courtyard would be lovely on a nice day, however it was raining for us. The location is perfect to walk into town. The carpark was very handy the next day when we went exploring, as we we... This was one of the most relaxing, comfortable stays I have had in a hotel. The building itself is beautifully decorated, with a lovely courtyard garden for al fresco dining - something we took advantage of on our first night. Our family room was spacious and comfortable, and the annexed children's room afforded us all some privacy. Decor was attractive and calming, without that generic dullness found in most hotel chains. Stayed here last week, and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very well located and has ample on site parking. Staff are very helpful and reception staff were informative and welcoming. Help with luggage was very welcome. Room in the older section was of a reasonable size and bathroom adequate and clean. What really impressed me was the quality of the food. It is very conveniently situated for the centre of Salisbury and has excellent parking facilities. I have stayed in the Hotel on several occasions over the last 30 years and very little has changed. The standard rooms are small and lacking in modern facilities, it is quite a struggle to get to the top floor for over 80's and the restaurant is average.

This hotel has a good location within walking distance of all the interesting places and amenities. Parked our car in the hotel car park on the Friday we arrived and did not use it until our departure on the Monday. Had a executive double on the second floor. We stayed here for a few nights in June. After a rocky start with a very small room which the lovely Hannah dealt with professionally and sympathetically. The hotel is located in a very good spot for seeing the sights of Salisbury and the staff are always happy to point you in the right direction. Breakfast was vast and tasty. The bar staff looked after us, turning the TV up so that we could enjoy the Wales v Belgium games. Nicely presented breakfast. I had the pleasure of visiting the hotel for dinner. The staff were very friendly (at reception, the bar, and restaurant) and from that I would feel comfortable staying at the hotel. For main course we both went for duck which was a lovely large piece of meat; the leeks and croquettes to accompany were just the right amount; and the side "smears" (never sure what to call them) were excellent strong flavours - rhubarb tang was a great idea. This hotel is extremely well situated in the centre of Salisbury, close to the Cathedral, but is nevertheless quiet at night (at least we were at the back). We thought that Mercure stood for a virtual guarantee of good standards, but we left feeling a little dissatisfied and neglected. The Staff, the building and the décor were all a little tired and threadbare. Our reception was from a fairly underwhelming young lady who needed a bit of development to welcome people. An enjoyable stay: the bedroom was small and well appointed, apart from a rather shabby armchair and noisy fans outside. The view was restricted, over a roof which had not been swept for too long. The staff, whether in the restaurant or the bar or at reception, were universally welcoming and helpful. The absence of a lift was not a drawback for us, but others might find this difficult.

This was a close thing between three and four stars - the hotel is a bit vanilla and four stars conveys a sense of being special, which this place is not. But everything worked, the staff were good, the breakfast fine. I suppose £6.50 for convenient overnight car parking is reasonable. So not a wonderful place but an efficient one which offered what I wanted at a reasonable price.

Evening meal was tasty and expeditiously served, and the buffet breakfast was fairly wide-ranging, with tea/coffee served promptly.

A very nice hotel. Excellent facilities with one draw-back it does not have a lift. Overall we would happily stay there again and recommend it to others. The mattress was a little hard for us, but this seemed to be common across the eight Mecure hotels we stayed in during our holiday. We also understand that this is a personal preference as well.

The White Hart is a very convenient city centre hotel that could do with a make-over. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Our roadside room was a good size and had everything we needed but looked a bit tired. The weather was hot and our choice was a very noisy air-con unit or a noisy road if we opened the window. The wifi was free and connection was easy. Food in the restaurant was good.
