A completely superb venue for my cousin's wedding reception. A perfectly located, beautiful historic hotel; oak beams, leaded windows, antique furniture and quirky ornaments hanging from the walls. The staff were friendly and so very helpful, delicious food, especially breakfast. My room was immaculate, spacious and well serviced, with breath taking views of the River Avon. A special mention must go to the front of house manager, Sara Shepherd- Jones who's knowledge of the history of the hotel ... Read more

We arrived early, before check in. The friendly front desk staff checked with housekeeping and got us in our room right away. Very nice room, spacious, clean, nice shower. Beautiful view from our room towards the river. Dining room staff was friendly and attentive. Food and drink were very good. Plenty of items on the menu to choose from. They even stayed open a little late for us. Overall, a very pleasant experience. The staff and view are the most memorable parts of the hotel.

This from the front looks very English and inviting. I had my elderly father with me and unfortunately their showers bar 2 are all in the bath tub. For elderly people this can be difficult. Apart from that it was a clean and a professionally run hotel not your little guest house down the road. If you want a quaint english experience this is not for you. The breakfast was basic. If we wanted a cooked meal it was extra. Sorry guys but expected more for the price I paid. My father had a lovely... Read more

Although usually described as a 13th century inn, my very limited knowledge of architectural history makes me question that description. There may well have been an inn here in C13, but I suspect that Historic England is more accurate in describing the buildings facing the street as 'C16 modernised'. In fact I think that two separate buildings have been absorbed into what is described as the 'heritage' part of the old. Whatever the truth, this range of buildings is very old and the timber fra... The hotel is situated across the meadows of the river that flows past its grounds and is a ten minute walk from the cathedral. The rooms are of a good size and the room we had during our stay overlooked the river and the cathedral. Well appointed with good storage space for luggage, a fair sized bathroom, a couple of easy chairs and a table as well as a desk, along with tea and coffee facilities as well as a coffee maker in the room made our stay a good one. Lovely back water hotel, found by using 'Great little breaks' We were given a super big room overlooking the river and cathedral and they downstairs ones even have their own little sitting out area. Lovely helpful staff, good food and superb breakfasts. Just 5 mins from the cathedral and centre walking. Couldn't fault it . Will take dogs but charge a lot so we didnt take ours but not a very suitable for dogs, anyway

Lovely large suite with an excellent bathroom. On the whole very attentive and professional and friendly staff. The backdrop with the river is both stunning and very relaxing yet it's close enough to stroll into the centre for some reatil therapy or a visit to the cathedral or open garden tour. The afternoon cream tea hit the spot and the breakfast was varied, delicious and plentiful. This is a place my sister and l will visit again and agian when we are in the area.

We have stayed here several times it is close to the cathedral and town centre . From outside it looks quaint and relatively small but it is a bit of a tardis. It has a large car park. The rooms are very large with a big bathroom with bath and high powered shower, also included are nice toiletries and tea making facilities. The restaurant has a good menu and the food is excellent . We also found all the staff very helpful and professional. All in all every stay has been a pleasure.

Any hotel in such a beautiful setting will attract custom just because of it's location or it may be especially handy for locals (walking distance from offices or easy parking ) & thus may pay less attention to basic hospitality issues. It's a perfect place (geographically) to be when on your way to the west counties It's a very old building, but with all the things you need from a good hotel. There was a mistake made in regards to the planning: two double rooms instead of a double and a twin, but that was quickly solved. Restaurant is good, fine choice and a lovely sit on the terrace along the river.

I asked reception at 8:45am if they could arrange a button hole flower for us by 11:00 am. The receptionist said yes. We received the flowers as we came out from breakfast at 9:30am. The hotel building, decor and grounds are beautiful, on a river and very near Salisbury Cathedral which is just a few minutes walk away.
