We arrived it was very sunny and we had two dogs so wanted to sit outside. Many of the were empty but covered in uncleared dishes. The worst thing was all the cigarette buts on the ground it was hard to find a place clean enough to lay the dogs down. We ordered the food and I decided to have the rib beef with cauliflower cheese Sunday lunch, when my meal arrived it was a large sticky bbq rib and chips, I explained that it was supposed to be a Sunday lunch. The waitress took it away only to a... Read more

A nice hotel, well located for the Catamaran crossing and all the amenities of Ryde. My room was tastefully decorated and had a really comfortable bed. Service in the restaurant was attentive even though it was a busy evening, and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. What impressed me most, though, was the friendliness of all the staff I met, who went out of their way to be helpful.

Stayed here for a few nights in May and had an enjoyable time. Great location, good food, clean rooms and friendly staff, what more could you ask for! The bar overlooks the sea front with a large outdoor area, weather permitting. Very good value considering breakfast is included and with restaurants and shops just a few minutes away this hotel is well worth the money..

We stayed at the Ryde Castle last week for one night. The parking was easy and plentiful. The check in was easy and so informative. We were given a room on the first floor overlooking the seafront. The room was beautiful, great bedding, spotless bathroom with all the amenities you could need. We didn't use the wifi so can't comment on that. During the day we found the hallway noise quite loud and worried it would effect our sleep however we heard nothing after 10pm and had a brilliant sleep. Br... Read more

We stayed here for 1 night and will defo be coming back the room was lovely sea view, very clean. We had dinner and breakfast both meals were delicious. The hotel is so close to everything you could possibly need. We had a brilliant time. We visited the Amazon world zoo which was great but taxis were so expensive for only a short journey. There are loads of shops, pubs, restaurants in walking distance.

This is one of the Green King outlets. Very comfortable seating, a well stocked bar. Garden seating for the sunny weather and right on the Esplanade overlooking the Solent and Portsmouth. In keeping with this Pub Group they offer a large and varied menu and a good range of wines, beers and spirits. They also do a special menu for those who do not have a large appetite. They are residential also, although we were staying elsewhere.. We dined there twice as we know that the menu is always of a go... Read more

Stayed here for 1 week for a work event and really liked the charm of the place. Ate in the hotel every morning and evening and found the food to be of a good standard and tasty. The staff were all lovely and were very accommodating. I would stay here again if I returned to the isle of white.

The lunch here is what I would expect to pay £5.99 at a cafe , very basic with microwave veg , frozen Yorkshire and meagre slices of meat , as a local have tried twice just in case having an off day as the main menu of steak and fish is good. Cleanliness hit and miss , dirty glasses , sticky bar and tables having to be cleared of glasses by customers. A shame as lovely venue but The King Lud better value lunch option.

My husband and I visited for two nights with my mother and father (my mother's 80th birthday treat). You couldn't wish for more attentive staff. We ate both evenings in the hotel and the food was very nice, good value and there was plenty to choose from. The breakfast was superb. The rooms, with seaviews, were lovely with comfortable beds. My parents room, No 5, was on the end and lovely and peaceful. Only negative comment was the our room, No 3, did have an adjoining door with Room 1, and a... Read more

Paid £145 for a twin room. We were only allocated one key and were told to look after it or would face a £50 fine "IF WE LOST IT". We were informed on arriving that there would be no one on the front desk after 12pm except a night porter and if we arrived after this time we wold need to "LET OURSELVES IN". We didn't see anyone around when we returned and let ourselves in with the one key at 1pm. This is not what I expect when I have paid this sort of price for a room. There should have been... We visited this Hotel to eat a couple of times as we were renting a house in Ryde for half term. We were a large group and the staff were very helpful and accommodating finding space for us at what was a busy period for them. There.were good menu choices and any special offers were pointed out to us which was appreciated

After the comfortable experience of the Isle of Wight Festival we had to stay over on the island because of no ferry availability. This place is a gem. Fresh, clean and manned by nice people. New barmaid was so lovely in helping with things and the young lady serving breakfast was so nice. I really liked it. Tried to book for next year but no availability. I'm not surprised. Great staff. Makes the difference.

We popped in to here after enjoying a day out at the Pirate Festival on Appley Beach on Fathers Day. We had a small budget left so ordered two adult roasts and a childs roast. When we checked our change we was charged less than what we thought and asked if this was right. We had a response of "Yes it is half price now" When the food come we had two waitresses come with all of the food and asked if we wanted any sauces, because I wasn't bothered on what type of mustard they bought both over. Hotel is situated overlooking the sea on the Esplanade in Ryde not far from the Hoverport. On site parking is good and free. It is a 5 minute walk into Ryde where there are plenty of restaurants and bars although the hotel has a good basic menu if you don't want to go out. The room that we had was on the back of the hotel and appeared to have been recently refurbished. Bathroom was excellent. Room was clean. The public areas of the hotel needed some attention showing some wear. The hotel was qu... Read more

Just returned from a weekend celebrating a friends 50th. The hotel is lovely. We had room 14 which was superb and overlooked the sea. Very clean. The problem is the service, no one on reception and had to ring a bell, although the receptionist as lovely. Now to the food! Do not eat in the bar, the food is well below standard and just checked on a plate! My bacon and chicken salad was inedible and looked so unappetising! My husbands steak was more fat then meat! The breakfast though was rather... Read more

We have stayed at Ryde Castle several times but this time it was not so good . The Staff and rooms were good , but the breakfast was poor on the Saturday ...the Bacon and Sausage were very poor . After a long day with the Grandkids we were looking forward to a good nights rest , but round about midnight we were woken to lots of shouting and screaming which carried on for about a hour ....not impressed .....

Had two very nice nights here and I can't fault it ! Staff are very nice and attentive. Room very clean and tidy. Breakfast. Although a small portion was very nice with lots of tea and toast to fill up on. Ample parking and just a very short walk to everything Ryde has to offer. One very happy customer

We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my husbands birthday. The room we were given was small and very very warm. The windows did not open fully so could not get any breeze into the room. Didn't sleep at all well, because it was so warm we had to have the windows open and all we could hear was the noise from what sounded like the kitchen extractor fans all night. We decided on the first night to eat at the hotel. Never again. On trying to order I was told that everything we wanted was o... Read more

We have just had a week at the Ryde Castle hotel. The room we had booked wasn't as we expected i.e. A sea view. It should have been pointed out that standard rooms are at the rear. The bar was the only venue to eat as the restaurant is not open until Thursday and the weekend , although breakfast each day was served there. The bar has stained seats and not conducive to an hotel of this supposed standard. The wi fi connection was a disaster. Our room was very small, no draw space so underwear etc ... Read more

The service at the bar was the poorest I have experienced. Bar staff were miserable and had to wait an extremely long time to get served with no greeting. The food was AWFUL for the price I paided which was equivalent to London prices for the quality of what you would get from Iceland superstore! DISGUSTING!
