Ideally located about 15 minute drive from the centre of Tunbridge Wells. Room was very clean, comfortable and well maintained. Food was good and reasonably priced, Helpful staff. Special mention to the young man on reception at 0600 on Thursday 12th May. Even although he was approaching the end of a long night duty he could not have been more helpful with a clear focus on delivering quality customer service. Happy to recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again.

We stay in hotels at least one day and often more, every week of the year. But this hotel was the biggest disappointment we have encountered in the last couple of years. Good location on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells. Initial impression is great as you walk into the Oast high ceilinged reception area - unfortunately it is all down hill from here...The whole hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment and updating, the chairs are stained and threadbare in the lounge and restaurant areas. We were part of a group (30 people) spending three nights at the hotel, dinner bed & breakfast. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was good, and the rooms were fine. This is a good location for visiting Royal Tunbridge Wells and nearby attractions. As a group we negotiated a good deal and overall we were very pleased.

The Mercure website and call centre was as per; total snafu, I gave up on the charming Asian lady in the Accor club call centre who could not get to grips with DINNER, bed and breakfast. This was a last minute, "I've got some spare cash" job started trying to book on-line at about 5p.m for that night with dinner. After eventually speaking to someone at the hotel found that the D,B & B deal meant you got 2 x £22 off your dinner bill. I later after booking the D,B & B BEST price guaranteed at £1... Read more

Easy to find and enough parking spaces! At my arrival, the car park was mixed with many oldtimers as Jaguar E-Type, Morris, MG B GT, Singer (?) and few others. It fitted perfect the ambiance of the building which is old style but everything functional as you need it. The staff was very friendly and cared very good about the guests. Everytime again.

I spent one night here for business. The grounds of the hotel are nice but my room was located up several different small sets of stairs that were a bother with a case. The room itself was quite dated and very stuffy. It was hot out that day and the room was very hot to sleep in. The check-in desk staff were friendly as were the servers at the restaurant - both at breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was fabulous and even had vegetarian sausages, that were cooked fresh. Having stayed for two nights, the staff were excellent however, I do think the hotel looks tired in certain areas. Breakfast is basic but of a good quality, however having used the restaurant one night, not all dishes were available thus limiting choices. it was also expensive, particularly the wine list considering this is not a 'high end' hotel

I was impressed by the entrance hall which was origionally an oast. (See picture). Had to queue to get to reception because a lady was changing rooms. The porter came out to help her and he looked as though he had been cleaning out the bins. We were directed to the dining room and when we got there, it was empty. Not even staff. After having a search round for staff, we had to make a lot of noise to be noticed. We had a choice of tables as they were all vacant. The carpet could really benefit... Read more

Average room and hotel with awful food. I ordered a 'superfood salad with seared butterfly chicken' and recieved chicken breast on quinoa, carrots, peppers and red onions as a replacement. If you forgot to buy the broadbeans, peas, sunflower seeds and pumpkin don't offer the salad because this version was absolutely disgusting. I've stayed in a Mercure hotel before and know how it should be served so didn't appreciate being fooled.

I have not marked this hotel higher as it seems to be accented towards corporate clients, but saying that we certainly enjoyed our stay here. The bed was comfortable, The bathroom clean and spacious and the breakfast excellent. The only slight problem was with the swimming pool where some of the tiles had fallen off the walls, but this is a minor issue. Otherwise we were very impressed with the hotel and shall return.

The receptionist is sometimes very busy when there is a surge of new guests but handles the situation with aplomb. I really like this hotel and have reviewed it before. It's almost homely, very friendly staff, all of them I have met. Speedy check-in, very clean rooms and great facilities. Easy parking - and it's free! (Not all hotels are). It knocks spots off some of the other hotels in Tunbridge Wells that charge a similar room price, but that's all you get..a room. I have one complaint. The price of drinks from the bar. Ridiculously expensive. I mean, £9.90 for a glass of wine! £29.00 a bottle?... Read more

I have stayed here a few times the rooms and service are ok, you could find better but also worse. This time the hotel was ok but this time the restaurant was not as good, staff did not seem to know what they were doing and the food could have been better. I have eaten here before and that time it was a lot better, this time could have been a off day. The hotel dose offer all you need for a £75 room and I would try it at less once more just maybe eat out.

i tend to have to stay at this hotel every few months or so and tend to choose it due to its location. However there's always just something that stops the stay from being a good one. This can range from a strong smell of urine in the bathroom, to just a dribble of water coming out of the shower. However the staff are always pleasant and if you are down early enough, the breakfast can be delicious.

It is categorised as a four star, but trip advisor reviews provide a 3.5 satisfaction scale and this I think is a fair classification of the hotel. It is a very large establishment and appears to have been developed a decade ago. It has a swimming pool, free Wi-Fi, nice fixture and fittings that you associate with a four star, but it is a decade old and well of course show signs of wear and tear. There was music (some party at the hotel) until midnight, right next to my room disturbing my sleep. Breakfast is as late as 0730 compared to other hotels where breakfast is served at around 0630. Otherwise the hotel is ok, with a big parking space and other amenities.

The staff here were really wonderful during my three night stay, Sophie at the front desk, Vincent & Marisa in the restaurant took very good care of me. The room was cozy with a single and queen bed, TV and hot pot. Bath amenities were nice and I could have floated in the bathtub. Surprised that there was no alarm clock or pen in the room. Beds linens were very nice although much too warm for the duvet, for me. The hotel is located on some of the main bus routes so easy to get to and from... Read more

We had booked an overnight stay at the Mercure Tunbridge Wells from Australia as we knew we were flying into Gatwick at around 6pm at night and didn't want to have to hunt for accommodation at that time of night on our way to Kent. We duly arrived around 7.30pm and were met quite smartly by the receptionist and directed to our room. Our room was quite nice, clean although the bathroom was showing a bit of age and the shower over the bath was quite hazardous to negotiate with wet feet. As we... Read more

We paid for an upgraded room on the first floor and the room was a good size but not very clean, there was dust on a lot of surfaces. Decent quality bed and well equipped bathroom. The maid needs to be allowed more time to give a good clean. Suprised that there was no safe in the room.

A perfectly average hotel in desperate need of a refit. Situated in a quiet location off the A21. Average buffet breakfast in somewhat cramped room, evening meal tasty, average but not good value for money. Staff all friendly and helpful

The Mercure looks very welcoming from the outside, but inside it's looking a bit run down and in need of modernisation. Most of the staff are friendly, but some lack key customer service skills. The reception needs another member of staff at busy times; the poor lady working there when I arrived was overwhelmed with new arrivals, complaints about bookings and requests for access to the spa. The room I stayed in was clean, but could really do with a lick of paint and some new furniture. There w... Read more

We wanted a nice city break Royal Tunbridge Wells ticked the boxes for us. Looking for a hotel to stay Mercure came up at a very reasonable price for two nights with breakfast. On reception: the receptionist checked us in, very helpful greeted us with a lovely smile and offered to give us a guy to carry our suitcase up the stairs to our room. Our room: Very comfy with a good size bed, plenty of room to hang clothes; the room is really well equipped: Iron with a board, hair drier, good TV, tea ... Read more

I stayed two nights at Tunbridge Wells. The first night was atrocious! With a wedding going on downstairs outside my room, the noise during the evening was unbearable with pumping music and people screaming and shouting. I spoke to the manager who unfortunately was unable to change my room but promised me after 10pm it would quieten down as the doors to the garden would shut keeping everyone inside and the volume and base would be turned down to a reasonable level. He was apologetic and kin... Read more

Very reactive service and pleasant staff. All our requests and preferences were immediately taken into account and remembered. The Classic double room which we occupied w.as comfortable for a stay of 4 days, and we were glad of the tranquility. There was a large wedding reception during our stay, and we didn't hear a sound in our room. We dined every evening in the Restaurant, and the Health Club was much appreciated. Stayed over night here while attending a wedding nearby. room was clean and abover average and the breakfast has a large variety. staff were friendly and attentive even when reception/restaurant became quite busy. only complaint would be an error with reception booking us a return cab ride from the venue but this may have been the fault of the cab company so cant hold it against them. had a lovely nights sleep and the bed was large and comfortable. would stay here again.

My husband had to attend Tunbridge Wells hospital early on a Monday morning so we decided to book into a nearby hotel overnight on the Sunday. This hotel was only a 5 minute walk from the hospital so was ideal. We arrived mid afternoon and checked in quickly and took our bag up to our room. The room was a standard double but was very spacious with tv, hairdryer, coffee making facilities, shampoo AND conditioner and plenty of fluffy towels. 2 night stay for a wedding. Plenty of parking. Reception staff efficient and pleasant. Room on ground floor. Clean but furniture a little tired in need of updating. Bar staff a little slow but pleasant. Food at dinner very good with a good selection and it was hot. Breakfast had a very good selection catering for everyone needs. We did not have tome to use leisure facilities but friends did and were not disappointed. Alice a receptionist was very helpful.

I have to charge you 15 quid more if not booked on line, bar area is small, food was nice but typical tun wells more expensive then the average. Room was clean but dates how they can charge £ 85.00, if get for £ 60.00 stay if not go elsewhere it's was nice to have a swim though

Handy location to main routes in the area. Room comfortable and perfectly adequate; ours nice and quiet. Receptionist very welcoming and helpful. Pool and changing facilities could do with an upgrade and a good clean but, overall, an unexpected bonus. Breakfast (on a Sunday) was full to bursting with tables in use in the lounge. I'd certainly return to this hotel again, even though I didn't rate it as excellent. The room was a little small but perfectly adequate, and the service at reception was efficient and pleasant. The restaurant was busy, and this affected the service, but my complaint was dealt with efficiently and to my satisfaction, and they were very helpful regarding some dietary requirements that I had. Don't know what to think about the restaurant :Tasty food but had to wait for quite a long time to hear they didn't have one of our starters. Asked for bread but they didn't have any!! I've stayed in less shabby looking Travel Lodges. The staff on reception were good, but that doesn't make up for the "studio". Granted, it was a very large room for a hotel, but the furniture was old and tired, the bathroom looked like a kitchen, the ironing board and iron were in full view (everywhere else, they're in a cupboard, not bolted to a wall), the cushions were dirty and the bath plug was missing. The hotel is not up to the standard of previous visits to Mecure Hotels and certainly needs some TLC. Very old fashioned although the rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. This hotel is the epitome of a tired British 1970 hotel. Mercure will never be able to disguise the fact that it's an old house with a kid 20th century extension, and it's quirky was is definitely not cute. The tir dense was also evident in the staff. It took 30 mins to check in, the queue was only 3 people long. There was only one staff on the desk, but another was fiddling with a printer cartridge. My sister and I stayed here in November, after purchasing a "spa day" with Wowcher. The hotel is ok, but incredibly tired looking and really needs redecoration. The first room we were given was awful, blown light bulbs, peeling paint on the ceilings, the view from the window was a roof and cracked work surfaces where the tea/coffee was situated.
