My partner had booked a deal via travelzoo for DB&B with a bottle of wine. On arrival we were lucky to get a parking space in the hotel grounds. The room was small but clean & comfortable with a fridge (handy for cold drinks). The evening menu was limited but meal was fine. An excellent varied choice for breakfast. The spa, gym & pool facilities were good. An ideal location for Richmond station, bus stop outside (remember your oyster card, no cash taken on bus). Excellent value.

Our daughters booked afternoon tea and b&b at the hotel with Secret escapes deal After arriving by train we had a 25 minute walk up Richmond Hill in new shoes big mistake the hotel is right opposite the park but nothing else ! The room was not ready so could not freshen up had to sit in the clothes we had travelled in for our afternoon tea which was very nice and plenty we sat by the window but couldn't see a lot due to big hedges in front of the hotel But after we was given our room which see... We stayed for a night in May. The hotel provides plenty of parking and its right next door to the entrance to Richmond Park. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, there is a limited range of choices but the quality of the food was superb and the guys serving at the tables did everything they could to please. We stayed in an excellent room, having been lucky enough to get given an upgrade to a suite with a balcony. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was exceptionally powerful and ... Read more

The room was a very standard twin which was not a big deal as there was a pool to go and relex in............ not on a Friday; as there was swimming lessons for children until 6pm. So we missed out on using the pool. The food was good and the staff very helpful. Overall a nice night away but would not go again as not being able to use the pool was a spoiler for us.

We had a great experience at this hotel the last weekend. The choice was a great one. The hotel employees are really helpful and they anticipated to any request. Nothing was too much. We decided to stay in the bar on Thursday evening. Although, we were 35 persons ordering food and drinks together, the person behind the bar managed the situation with a big smile and really effectively. The food was very tasty and well presented. This was a Birthday present from my best friend. We were both very disappointed at the lack of quality! No China cup and saucers, only plain worn out white everyday breakfast ones. Just the little added touches were missing, like a pretty doily on the old scratched cake stand. No tongs to pick up sticky cakes. The sandwiches were made of cheap supermarket bread which was hard and the selection was minimum. To add a glass of fizz was an extra £16 which is extortionate. An expensive low budget e... Read more

We had our little girls birthday party in Richmond gate yesterday. Such a great milestone for us so we wanted to celebrate with style. And Richmond gate didn't fail, in fact exceeded my expectations. We had a sophisticated afternoon party for 4 year olds - 20 kids, over 10 moms and some dads. The dads were so happy as the manager opened another room for them to not miss the important football, the moms had overflowing prosecco while the children had fun running around in the beautiful garden. ... We booked a small room but when we showed up with our two-year-old in tow, they upgraded us to a balcony suite which was huge and just so lovely. We wandered into Richmond, had a pub lunch round the corner and went 'bambi hunting' in the Richmond Park just two minutes away. Such a beautiful part of London. The pool at the Cedars is nice for laps and there's a great spa and steam room (and gym, which I didn't use but looked well-equipped). Brekkie was also great, in a glass-roof conservatory. Our... The reason this review is a 3 not a 4 is due to the checking out procedure. I was charged the full mount of £315 on leaving, however the hold amount of 292 was not put back into my account until 5 working days after our departure - not informed of this. This lead to a week with 300 pounds less in my bank than I needed which caused disruption paying my end of month bills - Very unimpressed. The room, spa and food was all average and not worth the amount per room even with a discount.

The hotel is quaint. Rooms are really small and cramped. Its not a full fledged service hotel. Not fancy rooms. Room at hotel was at the back over looking the beer garden luckily it was quiet. Room well presented and clean, but take your own pillows! Ours we're very lumpy. Breakfast was good , evening meal menu very limixed. All staff very helpful. Real plus with this hotel is its position, Richmond Park is just around the corner. You can walk down to the river through Richmond Gardens then along the river to Richmond. We went to Kew Gardens from Richmond.

My daughter booked several rooms for her wedding, and it was a night mare! they messed it up so many times. I had to wait over an hour for my room to be ready, my 80 year old mother was very upset, front desk just said that they were busy from the night before so rooms not ready, even my daughter the bride had to wait over an hour for her room. Young lady in the bar very slow and when I went to pay she said not to pay at the bar but at front desk, but front desk did not know why she said that. B... Read more

I??ve had quite a few ??afternoon teas?? over the last couple of years, and this is the standout. The hotel is at the top of Richmond Hill, there are great views from the terraces opposite. There is a large car park outside. My wife & I arrived about 30 minutes early, but it was not a problem, we went straight through to where the teas were served. We were offered a choice of tea or coffee to drink, we both went for tea. We then had to chose from a selection of blends, all offered as te... Read more

Ideally situated for family arriving from locally and abroad for a wedding. Got a deal on the number of rooms we booked and a separate room for Sunday breakfast. Whichever taxi company the hotel used failed to get some people to the wedding ceremony as they were taken to the wrong registry office. Staff at reception should be au fait with that sort of information and to be able to pass it on correctly to the taxi driver.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Richmond Gate Hotel. I stayed three nights on business and the room was clean and bright. The bathroom was spacious and had a great (overhead) shower. The food was terrific, breakfast lunch and dinner (burger in the bar). Everyone was really accommodating, the bar staff being particularly attentive to both my colleagues and me when we chose to do some work there one evening. Can fault the hotel, and wonderfully placed right next to Richmond Park. Be sure to take a... Read more

Hotel was a bit dated. rooms are quite small but I think Normal for London. They did not have a power converter for my US phone laptop etc. 10 min walk to Richmond I bought one cheap and left if for the next person. The part next door is massive with wildlife that is use to people, especially the deer and bucks. This is a great value and location. I recommend it. Excellent modern fitness center and swimming pool.

Great value through secret escapes, stay included excellent evening meal and breakfast. Location is superb with entry to Richmond Park over the road. Room is not large but provided everything you need, comfortable bed plenty of clothes storage, drinks fridge and excellent shower. There is free use of the small leisure centre at the back of the hotel too which you can access without having to go outside. First things first. Richmond terrace, with Turner's famous view, is probably 45 seconds walk away. The Richmond Gate (to the park) is maybe a minute, and within 5 minutes you can be down by the river (though the walk up takes considerably longer) or seeing deer and squirrels. Overall then, an amazing setting. Does the hotel live up to it? A bit like the curate's egg, it's good in parts. Strengths: Breakfast - plentiful and fresh Friendly staff (can't believe that a fellow reviewer found otherwi... Read more

The hotel is literally by the entrance to the park and about a 15 minute walk into the town centre. The staff were very accommodating, especially the Spanish barman (sorry didn't get your name) was very knowledgable about his wine and spirits and was great to talk to. The food was very nice if a little restrictive. The room was roomy and well stocked with tea and coffee. We used the gym as the pool was busy with swimming lessons and incredibly hot. My wife and I booked through "Secret Escapes" and went on Saturday to celebrate our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. I E-Mailed them a couple of weeks prior to our visit to book a table for dinner (included in the package) and mentioned the reason for our visit. On arrival I was informed that we had been upgraded to one of their best rooms - one with a four-poster bed at the top of the hotel. The first thing you notice is the hotels depressing decor. The second is the oddly placed reception. It's in a corridor and when you are booking in or out people have to navigate round or over your bags. Staff however are very friendly. We stayed in room18 which is tired and in need of redecoration. The mattress was lumpy and the base was badly stained. Although the room appeared clean it wasn't. Cobwebs could be seen from the pelmet to the ceiling and dust was easily visible on the light ove... Stayed the night of our wedding and was so disappointed - would never stay there again. There was no acknowledgement of it being our wedding day. Staff in the breakfast room were appalling: not greeted, had to get up and approach staff to get drinks, coffee was undrinkable as it was so strong, breakfast buffet had run out of a number of items of food and it was only about 9:30am! I lost the will to live on complaining to them any further and just left the breakfast room. Arranged a late chec... Read more
