My partner had booked a deal via travelzoo for DB&B with a bottle of wine. On arrival we were lucky to get a parking space in the hotel grounds. The room was small but clean & comfortable with a fridge (handy for cold drinks). The evening menu was limited but meal was fine. An excellent varied choice for breakfast. The spa, gym & pool facilities were good. An ideal location for Richmond station, bus stop outside (remember your oyster card, no cash taken on bus). Excellent value.

Our daughters booked afternoon tea and b&b at the hotel with Secret escapes deal After arriving by train we had a 25 minute walk up Richmond Hill in new shoes big mistake the hotel is right opposite the park but nothing else ! The room was not ready so could not freshen up had to sit in the clothes we had travelled in for our afternoon tea which was very nice and plenty we sat by the window but couldn't see a lot due to big hedges in front of the hotel But after we was given our room which see... We stayed for a night in May. The hotel provides plenty of parking and its right next door to the entrance to Richmond Park. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, there is a limited range of choices but the quality of the food was superb and the guys serving at the tables did everything they could to please. We stayed in an excellent room, having been lucky enough to get given an upgrade to a suite with a balcony. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was exceptionally powerful and ... Read more

Wow from the moment we walked through the door into reception . The hotels decor was spot on and i definetly felt like staying here was going to be a real treat and it just got better and better. The lady who greeted us on reception was really helpfull and friendly , she was really welcoming and guided us through what facilities were availiable to us during our stay. We went up to our room and again it gets another wow , the room was huge .. decor again was lovely and very clean . The bed wa... Read more

The room was a very standard twin which was not a big deal as there was a pool to go and relex in............ not on a Friday; as there was swimming lessons for children until 6pm. So we missed out on using the pool. The food was good and the staff very helpful. Overall a nice night away but would not go again as not being able to use the pool was a spoiler for us.

We had a great experience at this hotel the last weekend. The choice was a great one. The hotel employees are really helpful and they anticipated to any request. Nothing was too much. We decided to stay in the bar on Thursday evening. Although, we were 35 persons ordering food and drinks together, the person behind the bar managed the situation with a big smile and really effectively. The food was very tasty and well presented. We loved the burgers on the wooden board and the chips in the buckets... Read more

Don't go in the basement rooms. They are a bit noisy with the side road and constant disruption of other travelers banging doors, etc...They have a breakfast room and reasonably good amenities (health club, pool, etc). More geared towards families.

Comfortable and very popular. A small bar, good dinning room and breakfasts were great. Some on-sight parking available. We stayed here to be close to Kew gardens. Still a $15 cab ride away. Staff was all great.

A well-run hotel. Nice staff, clean and tidy, nice rooms, great breakfast - can't fault it. We got a very good rate including afternoon tea and breakfast. The afternoon tea was very generous - we could not eat it all!

This was a Birthday present from my best friend. We were both very disappointed at the lack of quality! No China cup and saucers, only plain worn out white everyday breakfast ones. Just the little added touches were missing, like a pretty doily on the old scratched cake stand. No tongs to pick up sticky cakes. The sandwiches were made of cheap supermarket bread which was hard and the selection was minimum. To add a glass of fizz was an extra £16 which is extortionate. An expensive low budget e... Read more

We had our little girls birthday party in Richmond gate yesterday. Such a great milestone for us so we wanted to celebrate with style. And Richmond gate didn't fail, in fact exceeded my expectations. We had a sophisticated afternoon party for 4 year olds - 20 kids, over 10 moms and some dads. The dads were so happy as the manager opened another room for them to not miss the important football, the moms had overflowing prosecco while the children had fun running around in the beautiful garden. ... We were lucky to have a Secret Escapes offer for one night's stay here. Location is amazing, at the entrance to Richmond Park with the glorious Thames meandering beneath the Hill (OK, a bit poetic!). We arrived after spending the afternoon at Hampton Court so we missed the afternoon tea included in our break, but we were offered this on the following day, very generous and unexpected. We had a lovely quiet room, overlooking the garden, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent, parkin... Read more

Fantastic attentive staff. Great food. Absolutely amazing value for money for dinner bed and breakfast deal. Good quality sheets and comfortable bed. Air conditioning, but windows open too. Had a really wonderful stay - although they had a wedding going on so we couldn't eat in the main restaurant, they gave us a fantastic room for dinner for the four of us. Will definitely go back .

Room was small and a bit dated, however decent for the price I paid. Queen size bed was comfortable, but pillows not good. We had two rooms. One was ready when we checked in around 2:00 pm, but the other not. No problem - we dropped all bags in one room and went out. A few hours later returned, got the new room key, but when we entered, another persons bags were in the room. Accidents happen and issue resolved quickly, but don't leave valuables out in case it happens to you. There is safe in al... Read more

We booked a small room but when we showed up with our two-year-old in tow, they upgraded us to a balcony suite which was huge and just so lovely. We wandered into Richmond, had a pub lunch round the corner and went 'bambi hunting' in the Richmond Park just two minutes away. Such a beautiful part of London. The pool at the Cedars is nice for laps and there's a great spa and steam room (and gym, which I didn't use but looked well-equipped). Brekkie was also great, in a glass-roof conservatory. Our... Another delightful stay at my favourite hotel in London. Rooms are comfortable and more spacious than central London hotels. The Spa is a fabulous facility with large swimming pool and well-equipped gym. Richmond is a great place to shop and Richmond Park just up the road. What is amazing about this hotel is the personal attention from every member of staff. They just can't do enough to make your stay comfortable and happy. I have a rather restricted diet and often eat in the restaurant. The ch... Read more

The reason this review is a 3 not a 4 is due to the checking out procedure. I was charged the full mount of £315 on leaving, however the hold amount of 292 was not put back into my account until 5 working days after our departure - not informed of this. This lead to a week with 300 pounds less in my bank than I needed which caused disruption paying my end of month bills - Very unimpressed. The room, spa and food was all average and not worth the amount per room even with a discount.

Phoned hotel 10 times before being able to make a booking for afternoon tea and told by a curt gentleman that the only time available was 3pm, so reluctantly booked this via Virgin experience day. On day we had an accident and phoned hotel and they were happy for us to arrive later. When we arrived the lounge was very small and there were 2 other couples, there was no atmosphere and it was uncomfortable as everyone could hear your conversations. We ordered our drinks which came about 10 mins bef... Read more

The hotel is quaint. Rooms are really small and cramped. Its not a full fledged service hotel. Not fancy rooms. It's very close to the Richmond park and you can walk down to the terrace gardens and then down the river. Not a close walk to the tube station and high street. I like Richmond as an area and thought this was a perfect location.

We stayed for two nights when visiting Kew Gardens and had the most wonderful stay. Richmond is a fabulous location for a short break, it has a lovely park and riverside pathway, you can walk for miles straight from the hotel. Very easy to reach via tube and train, took us less than 30 mins to get right into central London as well. The hotel is a beautiful building and has lots of the original features, balance with lots of modern touches. We were spoiled with a reall nice large room which wa... Read more

This is my 3rd stay at the Richmond Gate Hotel and it probably won't be my last! Our room was at the front of the hotel on the second floor and was beautifully decorated, spacious and well equipped. This is the older part of the hotel which doesn't have a lift and so not recommended if you have mobility issues. That said I love the quirkiness of this period property and although there are some parts in obvious need of restoration it is clean and well cared for and in my opinion its slight imperf... The hotel was very busy with in house weddings and consequently the staff were stretched and on occasions somewhat chaotic, but they were always friendly and kind and when we returned home and my wife found she have inadvertently left some items of clothing in the room, they searched for them and sent them to us by post the very next day. If we ever need to stay again in Richmond, we would use this hotel.

We received a wedding gift to visit here for afternoon tea. We told the receptionist we have afternoon tea booked, all seemed fine, we were then seated and greeted by our waiter who supposedly was meant to look after us. Our waiter was completely clueless to afternoon tea and how you should treat your guests, he never gave us a menu for drinks, just asked if we wanted tea or coffee, no menu to tell/show us, never asked us about any allergies, the food was brought to the table, not one mention... the website for this hotel looks very nice but unfortunately the hotel is very old and dated and staff do not have a clue. Dinner was a very rushed affair and very plain with not a great deal of choice wine served in incorrect glasses and dinner plates taken away before you have finished your last mouthful. also the leisure facilities were very dated which just made them look very unclean and I was not comfortable in them at all. I am sure some people would love this kind of hotel but its not ... Read more
