Stayed here for two nights at the end of April for my daughter's reception at the Beetle & Wedge down the road on the Thames. Friendly helpful staff, plenty of parking, nice bar and restaurant. Morning buffet included. Rooms had been updated recently and were very modern with small balcony looking of the Thames. Easy walk into town or across the river to Goring where they are other shops and restaurants.

I stayed in room 42 which was newly renovated- very tastefully decorated, comfy bed, bright and airy with a beautiful view over the Thames. Staff was friendly even if I must say that service at the restaurant was quite slow. Food was very nice though! I missed some yoghurt on the breakfast table otherwise that was fine too! And the surroundings are to die for. Take a run or a walk along the Thames - amazing!

The Swan is on the Thames waterfront on the Streatley side of the Goring Gap. The Boathouse café/deli is a ideal stop prior to walking the Thames Path in either direction, towards Pangbourne/Whitchurch or towards Wallingford. Scenery is enchanting. The Boathouse staff are a happy welcoming crew and the food is interesting and varied. After a stroll along the Thames or around Goring/Streatley the restaurant at the Swan is ideal with a reasonably priced and varied menu. The Swan and Goring/Str... Read more

The room was large and furnished nicely. The breakfast was delicious. The view of the gardens are lovely. I would definitely return to this hotel! Make sure you can carry your bags up and down the stairs. Nothing major but just a recommendation.

Everything was perfect for our lunch for 50 people at The Swan recently. We had pre lunch drinks outside on the lawn in beautiful sunshine followed by a delicious meal. Particular thanks to the chef for accommodating our gluten free requirements and for providing a gluten free lemon tart for one of the guests. The staff were unfailingly courteous and efficient. Everyone was having such a great time that they stayed on and we only just managed our deadline for leaving. Thanks to everyone for hel... Read more

This appears to be a hotel of 'two halves!' I recognise the hotel is in a period of renovation but I have no idea what determines what room you get!? Old or new! Sadly I got one of the old rooms. I won't say the issues I had initially however what I will say is that it was dealt with swiftly and professionally and I was moved rooms. So thumbs up to the reception staff. Still I was in a very old and tired looking room, room 7 I believe. Old carpets, tired out furniture, groaning floorboards and ... Read more

What a location this marvellous Hotel has, I say marvellous because that's what it is but there it ends. Dreadful service, we waited in one of the lounges overlooking the river for someone to even acknowledge our existence, staff passing to and fro, not one stopping to clear tables full of previously used coffee cups and dirty plates. The result after waiting for twenty minutes or so, we just left and went elsewhere.

We went last Sunday for Sunday lunch and sat outside overlooking the River Thames. The beef was cooked to perfection and a generous portion size (3 slices) served with a large Yorkshire pudding and 4 kinds of veg (including several roast potatoes). The only weak point was the gravy as there wasn't enough of it but once we requested more it came quickly and made the food even more delicious. The service was very good and nothing was too much trouble and done with a smile.Sitting alongside the Tha... This is the sixth year I've stayed on the trot. The staff were friendly as always. My room had everything I needed and was clean, though it was dated - the bathroom in particular worn and scruffy. I know they're renovating rooms and I'm sure the new ones are far nicer. The room was exceptionally hot, even with the window wide open, making it very uncomfortable for the night. Shame to find they didn't have the pool or jacuzzi anymore as this was the main draw. I've only rated it a 2 as unf... Read more

Myself & partner stayed here for one evening in February. The hotel is situated right on the Thames, a beautiful setting & very tranquil. We stayed in the wing of the hotel that had just been renovated. The reception area was quite dated but we was told that the new wing will be the new main reception area. The room itself was very large & spacious. Room was clean & bathroom was particularly of a high standard. Restaurant was very busy which of course is a good thing. Food was very nice - in... Not been here for a while until recently. The first impression wasn't good - externally it needs decorating - and quickly! However we went through to the riverside terrace and were greeted by lovely waitresses. Great table next to the river edge, great view, fab 3 course lunch and a nice selection of wines. A good menu with something for everybody. £70 for a couple including a nice bottle. Feel good factors - free table water - sparkling or still. No service charge added - not even as an optio... I stayed here for 3 days during June 2016. The hotel rooms are currently being updated. Mine had been done and was lovely-roomy, clean and modern. The hotel has a separate bar and large dining area with meeting rooms on two levels. There is plenty of parking and a gym and spa. There is plenty todo in the local area and the hotel is ideal as a relaxing base.

Chose to stay here as it's right on the Thames and an ideal spot for a one night stopover on our walk of the Thames Path. Lovely location . Room very recently refurbished and very good. Reception area in need of redecoration as is exterior of hotel. Bar and restaurant good overlooking the river. Our seafood risotto was not as good as we'd hoped. At breakfast service was very slow and we had to keep asking for things - we were not alone in this. Overall, good location refurbishment needs comp... Read more

Stayed here for one Friday night in June at a cost of £120 B&B for two. Pleasant staff, reasonable food. Restaurant is bright and clean with nice river views. Hotel is showing its age in parts eg wallpaper scuffs in corridors, damp patch on our bedroom wall needed attention/repaint, missing grout in ensuite tiles, very grubby table on the balcony of the room, and noisy water pipes which can disturb neighbouring rooms at night. Overall satisfactory, but some maintenance/attention to such detail ... Read more

The location, by the river and in a lovely English village is idyllic. The menu was, however, a bit short and simple. having said that the food and service was very good. we sat in the orangerie / conservatory with a fine view of the Thames - but the party in the other half were a bit noisy and the lack of soft furnishings (curtains and carpet) meant that their noise disturbed us.

Sunday morning stroll to The Swan and coffee at the Boat we tried to lots the skinny latte is, flat whites, black and a cappuccino! Big mugs of great coffee- if we hadn't seen so much before we left home we should have left some room for their yummy looking food. That you on the river is wonderful. The place is decorated with rustic rural charm . Clearly very busy and popular. Definitely want to try again and one to try if you're in Streetly and Goring

An amazing meal and service for my husbands 40th birthday. We were a party of 16 with 4 children. Everything went to plan and was set up to a high standard. The food was perfect for the adults and children. The venue was lovely with a great view of the river. We hired a boat before the meal and had a lovely relaxing time. Raquel was brilliant with all her help organizing such a wonderful evening. I will certainly be recommending you.

Positives: Nice location, generally clean. Negatives: Read below....! Apologies in advance for my frankness, but I feel I simply must issue a poor value warning on this hotel. I would add that as a business traveller this is not my own money, but still feel it necessary to highlight the poor value for money on offer. Indeed had this been my own money (£110 per night), I would have walked out shortly after and found a better room at a Premier Inn for significantly less money! Whilst having ... Read more

Called in for lunch to check out the venue before confirming a larger party booking in a few weeks time. The views from the outside terrace are picturesque but unfortunately my food, on this occasion, was rather disappointing . I chose the cod and chunky chips. On presentation everything looked fine and the batter was light and crispy but I was soon to find out that the cod had not been completely de-boned and the skin had been left on. The mushy peas were bland and tasteless and did not live ... Read more

A long time ago I visited here so it was time to come back. The hotel is in the middle of a major refurb. and we were fortunately given a "new" room which was very well designed with limed wood furniture and flooring and a large bay window overlooking the grounds and river. The bar area was nice with plenty of snacks. I thought that there weren't enough staff serving at breakfast as we had to wait to be served and catch the waitresses' attention; would definitely stay again however.

We were in the area for a sporting event and stayed here on the final evening. The location of the hotel is superb sitting on the Thames by the weir. At the moment the Hotel is being expanded and everything is a bit disorganised and somewhat chaotic. The new section looks lovely and once finished I am sure the hotel will be excellent. We stayed in a huge room in the older part of the hotel which is in need of renovation and modernisation but views from our outside terrace over the river were l... Read more

We didn't stay here, but stopped for lunch while visiting the village. We sat outside by the river and watched the various boats go by. Lunch was delicious with salmon and soup. The hotel is currently undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment. When this is finished, it really will be stunning. In the meantime, the building work was intrusive and unfortunately spoilt what was supposed to be a celebratory treat after my son's graduation. No quiet time to relax and enjoy the garden and view of the river, before the builders arrived on the dot of 9am and started drilling right outside our door leading out to the decking. The Swan is a two storey building perfectly positioned on the banks of the Thames. It is undergoing a long term refurbishment at the moment but this did not effect us eg no bangs, building material left around etc. We had an upper floor bedroom with a balcony which gave lovely views of the river. Most upper floor rooms do not have a balcony but look out over the river ( assuming you pay extra for a river facing room - otherwise you overlook the car park). I know it was a lovely day but it was very disappointing that food ran out by 2pm. It might be an idea to find out if they have anything for you to eat before you go.

The hotel is going through modernization and the renovated rooms are very nice. The staff are excellent and very accommodating. The food in the restaurant for evening meals is of a limited menu but the fish and chips i had was the best i have had in a long while. Similarly breakfast there is an adequate choice with freshly cooked items would recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled aggs
