The standards are very high all around, from the decor to the restaurant and the approachable and welcoming attitude of the staff. A few minor nagging details that could be improved on is the connectivity from pc to tv in the rooms (which just didn't work at all), as well as the wifi being on the slow side, and the draft beer at the bar was a bit warm and not very lively. Apart from that, excellent hotel, would stay again.

Overall my satisfaction with my experience at the Penta Hotel Reading was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful when needed. The buffet breakfast was outstanding with plenty of choice to suit all tastes and dietary needs. My room on the first floor was comfortable and well appointed. On my first night the curtains would not close properly so the street lighting illuminated my room. However, the staff quickly remedied this the next day and no more street lighting intrusion was experience... Read more

Cool hotel....more like a nightclub or trendy bar. I have stayed there a couple of times now and other than a slow checkout process, the staff have all been truly excellent. Helpful, friendly and sincere. They all look like cool baristas! The food is simple but fine, the rooms are pretty good and the gym is acceptable. Definitely worth looking at vs the other mainstream brands.

Very helpful staff in particular Patricia, Anpeluke, Kristin, Mer and Adam I hope that I have spelled their names correctly. The accommodation was fantastic and I can not fault it at all. The Hotel food was a very good quality , However, overpriced as a result, I ended up eating out at (as high a quality food) in the local restaurants. In all I stayed in the hotel for around 11 weeks.

Kinda like walking into a night club to start off with, once checkin was sorted out we made it to our room. Room was ok. However, the window wouldn't shut so I had very poor sleep, the noise from the road was constant, probably wouldn't be a issue if the Window actually shutter properly. Also the shower was broken, I told the cleaner however, I don't think she really cared

I have stayed several times at this hotel. I have to say the Staff are great, helpful, friendly and efficient. Food is off a good standard. My only issue is with the rooms, I find them clean and tidy but very noisy to a point where I find it difficult to sleep at times. I have heard there are some quieter rooms, but have yet to find one!

I have just had a very good night at this hotel. From the outside, it's not very beautiful. I wouldn't quite call it 'brutalist' modern hotel architecture, but it's somewhere between tacky, clunky and kitsch. The lobby is large and rather cavernous, depressing in a new-wave-hotel kind of way. The hotel is situated at the rough end of the city centre, with a slot machine entertainment centre, bars and cheap cafes nearby. At 1600 on a Saturday afternoon, when I arrived and walked from the stati... Read more

I stayed at this property for about a three weeks in April 2016. Location: The hotel is located in the centre of Reading, close to shopping centres, bars and restaurants. Rooms: The rooms are modern, clean & tidy and comfortable. The one gripe which I had, was that the AC did not do much and the rooms (all three which I stayed at in 3 weeks) all were very hot. Overall, the hotel has a great vibe--nice decor, cool music and lighting in the lounge/bar/reception area, nice modern appointments in the rooms, nice breakfast offerings--but there are few details that made my stay unnecessarily unpleasant: 1. Wifi - The free wifi is TERRIBLE - only 0.2 MBPS--a throwback to the days of dial-up. Having to pay extra for reasonable speeds is annoying, and feels like I'm being nickeled and dimed. Good hotel, located off the A329 but without the noise of a busy road. Staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast is good and available for long enough to suit most people. I found the room comfortable, though I didn't sleep well the first night The second night however was good. I was in early enough to put on the AC to cool the room. I would happily recommend the PentaHotel Reading for business and to be honest for couples.

Lovely staff, bar & restaurant facilities however, if I am paying £174 for a one night stay I would expect a lot more from the rooms. I also paid an extra £25 for a 'city view' which was a building site & an Argos.

Penta never fails in its standards. There is a few things that makes this hotel stand out: 1. The atmosphere is unique and when you walk in, it is far from the generic hotel layout that everyone else follows. This makes the fact that you have to be there for a week of work so much better. 2. The beds and pillows are super comfortable, I mean I can get lost in a cocoon of pillows when sinking in to watch some tv and go to sleep. 3. The movies are free! 4. Having had a great stay at the Pentahotel in Reading earlier in the year I was very keen to return when the opportunity arose. I wished I hadn't bothered! I stayed here one night in September 2016. On trying to check in at 6:15pm, I was told my room was still unavailable, and I had to go out and come back a couple of hours later. I thought that was disgusting. This hotel is one of the most expensive in Reading, which is already an expensive area. Not to be able to check in until late evening is terrible service. We love this hotel, we stay here every year when we visit reading to do our Christmas shopping & it never disappoints us. Staff are always pleasant & helpful. We love the lounge bar, great vibe and great selection on the drinks menu.

Nice looking hotel inside the outside lets it down. In our room I noticed in the shower you have got missing sealant around the shower base where it looked all dirty. Also a spot light in the bathroom was half out. We ordered evening room service the food was lovely and well presented but unfortunately not that warm. I was shocked that your movies was free so that was a nice surprise. Overall nice hotel but let down but problems that are so easily solved.

My partner and I stayed for a quick getaway. Clean and spacious rooms, lovely staff. There was great media facilities in the room, complementary shower gel etc.The free Wi Fi connection wasn't very good for streaming. The bar was great, there DJ on Saturday night was also a nice touch. Would definitely stay again. Th only thing I would change is better Wi Fi connection and more firm pillows, I woke up with neck pain as the pillows were too soft

Awesome hotel, was pleasantly surprised at how funky the hotel is - it has a Vegas vibe to it. Really enjoyed my stay, was very clean and comfortable. It is really stylish and the staff and top notch, helped any way they could. Would definitely stay again

I stayed for one night, the bedroom was spacious and clean, food nice in the restaurant. The bedroom was overlooking the front road and the noise insulation from the window was not sufficient. The blinds were too short and left a 4 to 5 cm gaps at each end so plenty of lights! If you plan to be up before 6, a room on the first floor is the place to go! I mentioned this at reception in the morning, but nothing was offered in compensation.

Great Service. Reception helpful polite and accommodating. Room was lovely and suited my tech needs when it came to connectivity and powering devices. My only complaint would be a lack of sleep due to a noisy air vent(not the air con) which couldn`t be shut off. Being a light sleeper this became an issue for me. That would be my one and only complaint about the venue. Thank you for my stay.

Extremely friendly staff, brilliant decor and atmosphere, very comfortable and clean rooms, located very close to the town centre, and easily accessible by rail. Only slight improvement for me personally would be to offer slightly firmer pillows, and have an iron and ironing board already in the room.

Highly recommend this Hotel, but you really need to use the "Penta Gamer Suite" if budget will allow. The biggest bed, the biggest bath, PS4....and a retro Pin Ball Machine! A great location in Berkshire.

My first time staying at the penta hotel in Reading and I was pleasantly surprised. Rooms are very nice, clean with really comfy beds plus an excellent shower. My only negative comments are that the staff behind the bar don't exude customer care and it is very dark in the lobby and bar area. On a big plus breakfast was very good and I can highly recommend it! It was also a bit expensive at £120 for the night and I would say a rate closer to £80 would be more appropriate.

Very good stay. One annoying thing was the big screen in the bar - what's the point of having it if there is no sky sports and a dreadful picture quality like we were stepping back in time to the 80's !!

My second time staying here. And it seems like deja vu. Stayed here for the RTS dinner dance. And for the second year in a row the darn lifts were down to 50%. Bit of a problem in a fully booked hotel. Rooms were fine great in fact but staff seemed unsure what to do. They were completely and utterly overwhelmed by bar service. Bad bad bad. Overall a mediocre experience. And they have the same pattern carpet as the Overlook Hotel in the Shining movie. Weird.

Everything about this hotel is ok, except that in the foyer and restaurant they play intolerably awful music, very loudly. I mentioned this to a receptionist, which said "I share your pain". One could hardly do more to create a bad first impression.

Very disappointed. This is supposed to be a quality hotel - having the reception off the end of the bar does not scream high class. The staff were young and unhelpful - no porter or concierge service which meant having to struggle with the luggage trolley ourselves. The music was appalling in the public area and 2 of the 4 plugs in the room were broken. The wifi is distressingly slow too and that is inexcusable at this level of accommodation. The bed was indeed comfortable, but the thermostat cl... Read more

I must be honest, I'd never heard of pentahotels. It was the venue for a friends party so I got a special rate.It is an ideal location very close to Reading centre and not too far from station. Check in was efficient and staff friendly. My room was clean and the bed was huge and comfortable. The breakfast one of the best I,ve had in a hotel. The decor wasn't really to my taste but a minor issue really. I wouldon't recommend this hotel.

We had three major problems with pentahotel Reading. 1. When we arrived, the duvet and duvet cover had an odor generally found in a toilet (#2, not #1). It took far longer than it should have on the phone to reception to persuade the staff to come change it. 2. There was construction underway next to the hotel beginning at 8:30 or 9 am. Very loud machinery, and the windows had gaps which let in most of the sound. (See attached picture) 3. Finally the wifi was completely atrocious. Took sev... Read more

Stayed for two nights at this hotel and having not stayed before, wasnt sure what to expect. -Its about a 10 minute from the station and relatively easy to find, although I had to ask a couple of people and the website could have benefited from clearer instructions. The receptionist gave me much better directions back to the station and I wish I'd known that before. -The first night, my room was so noisy (room 123)! It overlooked a main dual carriageway and even with the windows closed, it sound... Read more
