The standards are very high all around, from the decor to the restaurant and the approachable and welcoming attitude of the staff. A few minor nagging details that could be improved on is the connectivity from pc to tv in the rooms (which just didn't work at all), as well as the wifi being on the slow side, and the draft beer at the bar was a bit warm and not very lively. Apart from that, excellent hotel, would stay again.

Overall my satisfaction with my experience at the Penta Hotel Reading was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful when needed. The buffet breakfast was outstanding with plenty of choice to suit all tastes and dietary needs. My room on the first floor was comfortable and well appointed. On my first night the curtains would not close properly so the street lighting illuminated my room. However, the staff quickly remedied this the next day and no more street lighting intrusion was experience... Read more

Cool hotel....more like a nightclub or trendy bar. I have stayed there a couple of times now and other than a slow checkout process, the staff have all been truly excellent. Helpful, friendly and sincere. They all look like cool baristas! The food is simple but fine, the rooms are pretty good and the gym is acceptable. Definitely worth looking at vs the other mainstream brands.

Very helpful staff in particular Patricia, Anpeluke, Kristin, Mer and Adam I hope that I have spelled their names correctly. The accommodation was fantastic and I can not fault it at all. The Hotel food was a very good quality , However, overpriced as a result, I ended up eating out at (as high a quality food) in the local restaurants. In all I stayed in the hotel for around 11 weeks.

Kinda like walking into a night club to start off with, once checkin was sorted out we made it to our room. Room was ok. However, the window wouldn't shut so I had very poor sleep, the noise from the road was constant, probably wouldn't be a issue if the Window actually shutter properly. Also the shower was broken, I told the cleaner however, I don't think she really cared

I have stayed several times at this hotel. I have to say the Staff are great, helpful, friendly and efficient. Food is off a good standard. My only issue is with the rooms, I find them clean and tidy but very noisy to a point where I find it difficult to sleep at times. I have heard there are some quieter rooms, but have yet to find one!

I have just had a very good night at this hotel. From the outside, it's not very beautiful. I wouldn't quite call it 'brutalist' modern hotel architecture, but it's somewhere between tacky, clunky and kitsch. The lobby is large and rather cavernous, depressing in a new-wave-hotel kind of way. The hotel is situated at the rough end of the city centre, with a slot machine entertainment centre, bars and cheap cafes nearby. At 1600 on a Saturday afternoon, when I arrived and walked from the stati... Read more

I stayed at this property for about a three weeks in April 2016. Location: The hotel is located in the centre of Reading, close to shopping centres, bars and restaurants. Rooms: The rooms are modern, clean & tidy and comfortable. The one gripe which I had, was that the AC did not do much and the rooms (all three which I stayed at in 3 weeks) all were very hot. Worst hotel ever, the staff are rude and unhelpful. The don't really care about customer services at all. Food ok but not worth the month. Overall, the hotel has a great vibe--nice decor, cool music and lighting in the lounge/bar/reception area, nice modern appointments in the rooms, nice breakfast offerings--but there are few details that made my stay unnecessarily unpleasant: 1. Wifi - The free wifi is TERRIBLE - only 0.2 MBPS--a throwback to the days of dial-up. Having to pay extra for reasonable speeds is annoying, and feels like I'm being nickeled and dimed. What a little gem. We found it a little difficult to find, and you have to park (and pay) in a carpark elsewhere, but one settled in we were very impressed. Clean and sleek room with all mod cons, free bottled water, good soap etc (no pump arrangements!) All for less than £65!

We spent two nights at the hotel, staff were friendly and helpful. We were impressed by the standard the rooms were large and clean with very big beds. It was extremely helpful to have an early booking in service and a late departure time.

Lovely staff, bar & restaurant facilities however, if I am paying £174 for a one night stay I would expect a lot more from the rooms. I also paid an extra £25 for a 'city view' which was a building site & an Argos.

Penta never fails in its standards. There is a few things that makes this hotel stand out: 1. The atmosphere is unique and when you walk in, it is far from the generic hotel layout that everyone else follows. This makes the fact that you have to be there for a week of work so much better. 2. The beds and pillows are super comfortable, I mean I can get lost in a cocoon of pillows when sinking in to watch some tv and go to sleep. 3. The movies are free! 4. The very small touch of having a fog-... Read more

Could not fault at all. Great rooms, good central location for walking into town, brilliant service from staff and probably the best part...the bar serves 24 hours! Will definitely be staying here again and recommending to anyone looking for a hotel in Reading.

I would urge hospitality managers from any hotel in the UK to visit. Penta Reading does it well and right. Breakfast could not have been more inventive, there was even home baked banana loaf and every fruit available. The guy on reception who may have been Spanish or Portuguese was kind, attentive and took pride in his role. This is obviously a forward thinking company that operates in a culture of respect and genuine effort to please. Gorgeous bar area which was not overly busy during our hen g... Read more

Having had a great stay at the Pentahotel in Reading earlier in the year I was very keen to return when the opportunity arose. I wished I hadn't bothered! I will be writing to the management separately with my list of criticisms and observations but in general the whole experience was let down by the terrible service offered by the young staff - most of whom seemed to be completely disinterested and wanted to do as little as possible. To give two particular examples: It was clear that the rest... Read more

first impressions on seeing the hotel from the outside not wonderful but once you get in , surprisingly it is has a contemporary design and is spacious, clean and airy. the background music is lovely nice mellow r+b, café del mar kind of music. the staff were accommodating and the breakfast was good...you had a choice of continental, to full English...buffet style. All in all the short time I spent there weekend was comfortable and pleasant. If ever I am visiting reading again I will de... Read more

My wife and I stayed at this hotel several times and have decided that this is our favourite of all outside London hotels. I cannot for the life of me work out why some sites consider this as a 3 star, when it is a solid 4 (possibly 5 compared with some of the junk out there) The Room - clean, spacious and quiet. Comfy beds with premium TV included. The Breakfast - decent variety of hot and cold choices. You can order veggie options and eggs how you like them if you wish. The Service - second... Read more
